Arrival in the Canaries in February, specifically in La Caleta de Famara, Lanzarote, with a car rented in Playa Bianca, reached by ferry from Corralejo, Fuerteventura, a place reached in turn by a Ryanair flight, Pisa-Fuerteventura.
La Caleta de Famara, there are 10 miles of straight road in a breathtaking view to reach, is a town frequented by surfers, there are a dozen schools and surf hire, and dozens of people who practice this sport.
From the beach, very windy, you can see the kite-surf and surfing in the sea, a mountain rises at the sight, the Isla de la Graciosa behind the waves, a town on the sea and a beach, rather than beaches, very beautiful.
La Caleta de Famara is a place closer to Europe and certainly recommended to those who practice surfing the Atlantic Ocean wind is blowing all the year round in this enchanted place.
Lanzarote is the most north-east of the Spanish Canary Islands.
It owes its name to Malocello Lanzerotti, the Genoese navigator, born in Varazze (SV), who first discovered it in 1312 and occupied it for some time. The area is 806 km2 (fourth island of the archipelago), the population is about 140,000.
Arrecife is the main center of the island.
The main tourist attraction is the island's Timanfaya National Park, located in the west and characterized by volcanic landscape.
Other attractions are the caves of Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes.
The cave Jameos del Agua, was formed during the run of molten lava into the sea, the ocean water filtering, has created a blue lake in the Jameos.
To access this fantastic place, in addition to € 8, you need skills in dealing with these many steps, accessing the Jameos del Agua you can see the changes you made the genial Manrique, bar, restaurant, swimming pool and concert hall with a 'perfect acoustics!
To get to Jameos del Agua, follow the road signs, take the bus that goes from Arrecife to Orzola, number 9, with only three runs from Monday to Friday, and two races on the weekends.
From Jameos del Agua, I headed to Cueva de Los Verdes, is the open part of an 8km tunnel in the lava, eruption 5000 years ago he created, 6km of this tunnel have emerged, and this is within 2km of the ocean ! Also visit this place, to date, 2011, you need 8 €, and the visit is certainly more worth of Jameos del Agua, although not recommended for those suffering from claustrophobia.
From Cueva de Los Verdes to the Mirador del Rio, there are breathtaking views.
Then arrived at the Mirador del Rio, the breathtaking views are unfulfilled, because everything is an unique and unimaginable.
In front of the Mirador del Rio is a small island is the Isla Graciosa, Caleta del Sebo is the only town inhabited island, which is part of the so-called Canary Minor, the row of volcanic islands that extends north of Lanzarote .
The Mirador del Rio is a former military post, renovated for use as a vantage point, inside there is a bar and a restaurant and a terrace where you can enjoy the view, an idea increasingly Manrique.
From the vantage point you can admire the steep fall of consolidated lava pouring into the Ocean.

Turismo Haria - Lanzarote.
Lanzarote Submarine Safari!
A little bonus video on the reputable Submarine Safari from my week in Lanzarote. This underwater excursion operates from Puerto Calero in on the south coast, a pleasant and upmarket seaside village.
I'm not a fish fan so don't expect in depth (ha!) subtitles, but I hope you enjoy the video anyway! Just sit back and watch the fish go past... ????
Not sure I've seen a submarine trip report before, so I thought I'd make this for a bit of fun. Definitely better - and more humane - than any aquarium.
A full length trip report is available as always, this Sunday.

From Teguise, to the north, you reach Haria, just around the corner during a road overlooking a valley, thousand palms sprouting, and Haria, indeed the city of a thousand palm trees!
Haria looks like a desert village. Whitewashed houses and thousands of palms.
A show that makes this the most beautiful village of Lanzarote.
During the summer months from June to September the average maximum temperature can be up to 32 ° C, although relatively rarely, while at night is kept around 20 ° C. In the winter the highs are around 15 to 25 ° C and then decreased up to 14 ° C at night, rarely falling below this limit.
The rainfall for the year 2006 amounted to 1171 mm, although very poorly distributed because most of the rain fell in October (164 mm), January (281 mm) and February (488 mm). Due to its geographical features, most of the rain falls in the mid-north-west, including the Famara massif, leaving the other half tended to dry.
The island airport at Arrecife Guacimeta.
There has recently been added to the destinations through low-cost EasyJet with connections from Madrid-Barajas Airport and London Gatwick and Ryanair, with 18 links including Barcelona, Bologna, London, Glasgow, Dublin, Madrid and Frankfurt.
Arrecife is also the main port, with ferries to Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Gran Canaria).
There is also a link between Playa Blanca and Corralejo (Fuerteventura).
Internal links are limited to a number of buses (locally called guaguas) that connect the various localities of the island to the capital Arrecife.
There are a large number of car rental agencies (Alquiler de coches), and in some places you can rent bikes.
I have rented car to car CICAR at a cost of € 25 per day, without presenting a credit card.
Exploring the island in this way is an interesting alternative also benefited from very mild climate, roads and little traffic, for more, very flat.
The eruption began September 1, 1730 and ended six years later, destroying much of the island.
An active magma chamber is located 4 km depth below the Montanas del Fuego, at a depth of a few centimeters, the temperature reaches 100 degrees Celsius, and 10 meters is already at 600 degrees centigrade.
The Montanas del Fuego are located in the center of the Parque National de Timanfaya national park dedicated eruption of 1730, 51 km squares of lava, where you can enter only if accompanied by a guide.
See the third part of the video.
While outside the park can also go hiking for independent and adventurous roads, and assuming the insurance risk if you drive a rental car, miles and miles of road separates you from a hole well-marked hiking trails that take you in places to the fascinating volcanic cones, lava, lava so much, and deserted beaches and unreachable, born in the black lava on the sea.
Inside the Montanas del Fuego is the Restaurant del Diablo, we will order any type of meat will be cooked on a grill fueled by the volcano in the back.
Further north of the park, on the same street is the Visitor Center Mancha Blanca, free admission, where you can see through audiovisual rooms playing the volcanic eruption of 1730, certainly a place to stay!
I have embarked on a trek on the Caldera Blanca 450 meters, an old volcano, where you can see all the surrounding area, lava, ocean, lava and ocean, off the cone of a volcano has something of the surreal, is a wonderful thing!
These volcanoes, these places, these waters have a mystic, Lanzarote is one of those places that leaves its mark!

A part of the island is characterized by the cultivation of vines very special.
The walls are small circular Gering man prepared to protect plants from wind, where a hole is dug and the bottom of which a growing vine that produces excellent wine Malvasia. On these fields the farmer spreads a pall of fine volcanic ash absorbing the dew at night, it provides the moisture needed by plants.
You can taste many products in these tropical islands, from exotic fruits such as papaya, avocado, mango and plantain (banana tropical fruit) to the large variety of tropical fruit juices and many other local products such as palm honey, jam cactus, tropical banana cream, and even the wrinkled papas (potatoes, sweet and exotic, boiled in salted water and served with yogurt and garlic sauce or spicy).
Aloe vera is also widely cultivated in the past was considered sacred by the indigenous Guanches.
The plant is used for many purposes: the juice is used as an energy drink, tonic, derivatives are also used for their soothing and cosmetics.
Lanzarote was designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, also thanks to the local architect Cesar Manrique.
In the village of Taro de Tahiche, 5 km from Arrecife is the headquarters of the foundation named after him, hosted at his residence and which contains sculptures, paintings and architectural designs of greater integration with the volcanic island.
Lanzarote is located near the sub - Chinijo archipelago formed by the smaller islands of Graciosa, Alegranza, Montaña Clara, Roque del Oeste and Roque del Este.
Puerto del Carmen just south of Arrecife and Costa Teguise in the north of the capital.
The first location is an excellent starting point for those wishing to explore the south island, especially in the Timanfaya National Park and the valley of La Gering, plus the ability to get off at Playa Blanca and take a day trip to Corralejo (Fuerteventura ), while the second is more within reach of the caves of Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes.
Once in Orzola, you can take the Battel reaching the Isla Graciosa, in addition to the views of the Canary Minor.
