UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Russia
World Heritage Sites of Russia multimedia project was initiated to draw public attention towards the beauty of the unique architecture of Russian UNESCO World Heritage buildings. The installation was presented for the first time in Moscow during International Museum Festival INTERMUSEUM that is considered the main cultural event in Russia. With the support of 12 interactive MultiTaction Codice markers, the visitors were able to open the colorful visual content. Each of the markers was dedicated to a specific architectural sight. Once the marker was placed to the table, the text box with the information and photos was shown on the table while a short introductory movie was playing on the wall. With the help of innovative technology, each participant was able to take a fascinating virtual journey through the beautiful World Heritage sites in Russia.

Pilgrimage to Solowetsky (RU)
Andrey, who lived for one year in St.Gallen, told me about a pilgerimage to Solovetsky Islands, located in the Onega Bay of the Withe Sea, Russia. We participated this pilgrimage from 13 to 18 September 2010, organised by the Parish of St. Catherine of Alexandria, Pavlovsk town, St.Petersburg eparchy (Приход Святой Великомученицы Екатерины города
Павловска Санкт-Петербургской епархии).
Historically the islands have been the setting of the famous Russian Orthodox Solovetsky Monastery complex. It was founded in the second quarter of the 15th century by two monks from the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.
After the October Revolution, the islands attained notoriety as the site of the first Soviet prison camp. The camp was inaugurated in 1921, while Lenin was still at the helm of Soviet Russia. It was closed in 1939, on the eve of the World War II.
In 1974, the Solovetsky Islands were designated a historical and architectural museum and a natural reserve of the USSR. In 1992, they were inscribed on the World Heritage List as an outstanding example of a monastic settlement in the inhospitable environment of northern Europe which admirably illustrates the faith, tenacity, and enterprise of later medieval religious communities.

339th Infantry of American North Russia Expeditionary Force disembark from ship at Archangel Russia in World War I.
US soldiers of the 339th Infantry Regiment arrive by ship at Archangel (Arkhangelsk) Russia, during the Allied North Russia Intervention in World War 1. Most are soldiers carrying their rifles with bayonets affixed to them. But several are bandsmen, carrying their instruments. Russian stevedores stand on the dock as the troops disembark. The ship is painted in camouflage colors. The troops assemble in formation on the pier. Sacks of flour are unloaded by crane from the ship as Russian peasants load them into horse-drawn carts. A U.S. soldier is seen performing guard duty at the scene. The loaded carts are driven across the pier, where they are unloaded by men and women, and slid down narrow planks, to women in small boats. A few women pose in their boat, for the camera. View of two boats with small sails raised, rowing away from the pier, with their cargo. A woman struggles to row a dory, loaded with flour sacks. Russian children pose on the dock. One holds a container of milk bottles (World War I; World War 1; WWI; WW1) Location: Archangel Russia. Date: September 1918.

Malye Karely Wooden Architecture Museum - Moscow , Russia
Malye Korely (Russian: ????? ??????) is a village in Primorsky District of Arkhangelsk Oblast, in the north of Russia. The main sight of the village is an open-air museum, featuring the traditional wooden architecture of Arkhangelsk area. The museum is located on the right bank of the Northern Dvina River close to the mouth of the Korelka River, about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southeast from the city of Arkhangelsk.
The museum was created on July 17, 1964.[1] Traditional wooden architecture has been recognized at the time one of the most characteristic features of Russian Norths, and some of the buildings, churches, chapels, and peasant houses, scattered all over the Arkhangelsk Oblast, were put under state protection. The goal of the creation of the museum was to save the most outstanding wooden monuments, placing them under protection on the premises of the museum. The first building, a windmill (1744) from the village of Bor of Kholmogorsky District, was moved to the museum in 1968.[1] In 1972, the first exhibit item, an icon showing St. James, was transferred to the museum. In parallel with the building transfer, it was decided that the museum will be divided into a number of sectors, representing different historical areas. The first sector, representing Kargopol and the Onega, was completed in 1973, and on June 1, 1973 the museum was open for public.
In 1983, the museum became a member of the Europen Open-Air Museum Association.[1] In 1986, the museum, which was previously subordinate to the Arkhangelsk Fine Art Museum, became an independent museum unit. In 1995, it was designated as a cultural monument of federal significance. Lidia Bostryom was the director of the museum between 1975 and 2005.

Russian. The Appearing and Disappearing Petroglyphs of Cape Alitak
FrontierScientists.com – Russian translation. The Appearing and Disappearing Petroglyphs of Cape Alitak.
For thousands of years Alutiiq people lived in sod houses and hunted sea mammals, relying on special technologies, ancestral knowledge, and spiritual assistance to care for their families. The Cape Alitak petroglyphs of Alaska are one of the only written records of their way of life. Pecked into Kodiak’s granite bedrock, images of people and animals preserve customs from the Alutiiq past. Museum scientists explain this amazing history in seven short films.
The Alutiiq Museum & Archaeological Repository and the video production company WonderVisions present The Cape Alitak Petroglyphs series of short videos that explore Alutiiq heritage at the southern tip of Kodiak Island. Produced with support from the National Park Service Shared Beringian Heritage program and a Tribal Historic Preservation grant, the videos document recent archaeological research on Kodiak rock art.

(Ep. 21) White Ballroom of Grand Duke Vladimir Palace - Tsar Events' RUSSIA SURVIVAL GUIDE
Tsar Events' RUSSIA SURVIVAL GUIDE with Maya Krivchenia: Venues of St. Petersburg - WHITE BALLROOM of GRAND DUKE VLADIMIR PALACE #RussiaSurvivalGuide
Grand Duke Vladimir Palace was the last imperial palace to be constructed in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. It was designed by a team of architects (Vasily Kenel, Aleksandr Rezanov, Andrei Huhn, Ieronim Kitner, Vladimir Shreter) for Alexander II's son, Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia. Construction work lasted from 1867 to 1872.
Like the Winter Palace and the Marble Palace, the Vladimir Palace fronts Palace Embankment; water frontage on the Neva was extremely prized by the Russian aristocracy. The façade, richly ornamented with struccorustication, was patterned after Leon Battista Alberti's palazzi in Florence. The main porch is built of Brenen sandstone and adorned with griffins, coats-of-arms, and cast-iron lanterns. Other details are cast in portland cement.
The palace and its outbuildings contain some 36 rooms, all decorated in disparate historic styles.
Dinner can be served in Oак Hall (160 pax), Small Banqueting Hall (40pax) or White Hall (120 pax).
Table settings can be provided in various colors and motives depending on if providing a classical evening / seating or folkloristic themes and table settings with Russian Samovars and Russian Scarf's instead of table cloth. The Cocktail can be arranged at the entrance to the Main Room or in the Staircase.
