Hike on Onigajo in Yoshino-Kumano National Park in Mie pref. Japan （鬼ヶ城）
The Onigajo is a wonderful tourist spot in the Yoshino-Kumano National Park in Kumano city, Mie prefecture.
Its feature is the awesome view of the cliff and the Kumano sea.
The path was made along the cliff so that you can enjoy a nice walk hearing the sound of waves.
In spring, 2000 cherry trees come into bloom, which also attract tourists here.
Also, the Onigajo is a part of the World Heritage Site the Sacred Places and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range and the trail from the entrance of the Onigajo leads to one of the Pilgrimage Routes, the Iseji Route, so that you can also enjoy another walk on the World Heritage Site.

Our managing editor Jac Taylor takes a minute to soak up the old pirate's hideaway and massive rock edifice on the magnificent coastal road of Kumano, one of the sacred pilgrimage towns in Japan's Mie Prefecture. Thanks to the school excursion down there, patiently waiting while we took a minute to show you this amazing spot!
LOOK OUT FOR:
* The gigantic cliff face behind Jac is shaped like a shark's face - you're right in the mouth!
* There are some small islands just off the coast – these dot the entire coastline of this gorgeous prefecture
* It might be a llittle low-res, but see if you can spot the 'honeycomb' pattern on the rocks at the top of the cliff face. This rock has been worn away by wind, waves and seasonal typhoons for millennia.
* Jac's wearing a T-shirt - in February! Winter in this part of Japan is deliciously mild.
