General Cemetery
During the period of the republic in the early 19th century, our country was immersed in a society that was slowly growing, and which showed how people started arriving from the countryside to the city to find jobs and get a better life with good economic stability. That's why Santiago began to fill with people over the years and, during that time, the economic difficulties remained a major problem for our society, which made the deaths become higher than today.
On September 11th, 1811 a priest named Juan Flores Pretes proposes to the Senate the idea of creating a public cemetery, which can help to clean up the city of bad smells and diseases because of the excess of decomposed bodies; most of them were in mass graves.
This project was finally approved, but it took ten years to be built and the choice of the place should have a favorable location for people and should be close to all. That's how the project takes place near Cerro San Cristobal.
On December 9th 1821, president Bernardo O'Higgins inaugurated one of the largest and most beautiful cemeteries in America, which has 86 acres of land with approximately 2 million dead, among them are many important people, like some presidents, people who defended the human rights, wealthy families with great power, and also not-so emblematic people.
Benjamin Vicuña Mackenna and many others helped Cementerio General to become more advanced in its construction, and develop the idea of creating a city for the death, with several streets, avenues and many trees, but the health problem in the 19th century was still there. This Sacred Place is now Recoleta.
It's known that the bodies that were buried in that place, especially those of the emblematic people and more affluent families, were buried with snow, because the body could be kept longer before breaking down. This lets us understand why in the old cemetery there are mausoleums, which are located at a shallow depth. In the other hand, the most important mausoleums are for the most important people. There you can see not only Chilean names, but also foreign people and ones with different ideologies. Among the mausoleums that we can highlight we find different architectonic styles like the Greeks, Egyptian, Romans, Arabs and Indo-American.
This City of the Dead was created right in the center of the capital because of a reason more important than the access to it: because there are different hospitals such as Hospital San José, J.J. Aguirre, the psychiatrist, the Faculty of Medicine of Universidad de Chile..., so the dead were buried immediately.
Another important place of Cementerio General is called Muro de los detenidos desaparecidos, which has the name of all the dead who were killed in Augusto Pinochet's government. This place is constantly visited by all the people who see that huge mural which has a great story.
This place is important for the country, because every grave, every space has great stories to be told, and this is appreciated in every corner of the cemetery.

SEVEN SLEEPERS; Real Actors and Timeline of the Story.
Salam.
So the story seems possible and meaningful in Antioch.
Who is the ruler in 71 CE in Antioch?
Lucius Caesennius Paetus is governor of Syria since 70 CE. And he had known as weak character. But he had the power to sentence to death.
What is the importance of October 22?
Titus, destroyer of the Second Temple in 70 CE made the celebration, Gladiatorial contests in Antioch which many of the Jews who had been taken prisoner were killed.
Why? Because of his brother Dominitan's birthday party.
Caesar Domitianus Augustus was born Oct. 24, AD 51 and died Sept. 18, AD 96.
In 71 CE, Lucius Caesennius Paetus was organizing birthday party again in Roman Syria. Seven Sleepers did not accept worshipping idols during the festival.
Peatus became angry but he gave them time to think. Because Seven Sleepers was elite youngs of Antioch's community and they were working in the palace.
Peatus went to others cities of Syria to be sure for celebration preparations.
When he came back, he learned that seven sleepers fled. He ordered everyone to find them no matter the cost.
They had been found sleeping in a cave but nobody could reach them. The only solution for Peatus to make a wall for the entrance of the cave.
The other secret believers made an inscription about seven sleepers and put it on the wall. Everyone thought this was a pity end for seven young sleepers.
In 351 the Caesar Constantius Gallus built a new church in honour of Babylas at Daphne, a suburb of Antioch, and had the remains of the bishop transferred to it.
The intention of Gallus was to neutralize the pagan effects of the temple of Apollo located there, or as Chrysostom expresses it, to bring a physician to the sick.
when Emperor Julian consulted the oracle of Apollo at the temple in Daphne (362), he received no answer from fortune tellers and was told that
it was because of the proximity of the saint. He, therefore, had the sarcophagus of the martyr exhumed and taken back to his original place of burial.
A few days later, on October 22, which day? on October 22! a mysterious fire broke out in the temple of Apollo,
consuming the roof of the building, and the statue of the god.
Julian, suspecting angry Christians were responsible, ordered the cathedral of Antioch closed,
and an investigation into the cause of the fire. John Chrysostom claimed a bolt of lightning set the temple on fire.
The remains of Babylas were reinterred in a church dedicated to him on the other side of the River Orontes.
Who is Babylas?
Saint Babylas died 253 CE was a patriarch of Antioch 237–253, who died in prison during the Decian persecution. Which persecution? Decian persecution!
According to my theory, Decian entered to the seven sleepers story as the murderer of Saint Babylas.
In long oral tradition and transmission, he became the main actor of the seven sleepers story which messes up all the historicity.
Let's go back our seven sleepers story, Saint Babylas transferred and a few days later on October 22, a fire broke out in the temple in Antioch.
What remembers us 22 October and Antioch? Yes, Seven sleepers fled from Antioch on 22 October.
Our seven sleepers story has a date as 362 Common Era. What is this?
Here it is, a rich landowner trying to build a barn for his sheep. He took stones from the wall of the cave and probably noticed that it is not natural.
He went inside expecting big treasure. When he saw the sleepers, he runs away from the cave. Most probably it was world record never passed again.
He told his story and city came back to the wall. They found the inscription of the sleepers but could not enter the cave.
This heated the argument of resurrection. Are they bodily alive? or they are only a sprit? This was 9 years before the sleepers woke up.
But It becomes more suitable and meaningful for the story if we take 9 years which made year 362 CE meaningful.
Transfer of Saint Babylas, the fire of the temple and finding inscription could be happened in a week, end of October 362 Common Era.
What is the real heresy mentioned in the story?
It was about the resurrection. Seven Sleepers supporting the idea of the resurrection.
But there was a problem, did the seven sleepers have a body or they were just sprit. Anyway, Emperor Julian the apostate was there and put wood to the fire.
In the Year of 371, Emperor Valens try to solve this heresy. None of the priests could give solid answers from scripture.
So Valens wears woollens and sits on ash
Ask God For the answer.
God accepts Valens' preyer and sleepers woken up. One of them came to Antioch and being noticed.
The sleeper brought to Valens probably while sitting on the ash. When he heard the story, he immediately noticed this was the answer from God.
Valens wrote this to his brother Emperor Valentinian. Many bishops wrote about the story. And many story tellers put the stroy in their mind.
But there was a problem. Emperor Valens was not trinitarian but Unitarian.
As you know God knows best.

Bolivia, landlocked since losing a war with Chile in 1879, has long been desperately poor - despite its vast resources of minerals. It also has the highest proportion of indigenous American Indian people of any country and in Evo Morales, the indigenous people finally have a president. Sir David speaks with him at the UN General Assembly in New York.

HOW TO PLAN YOUR FIRST (OR NEXT) TRIP?
Raise your hand if you're planning to go travel the world but feel completely overwhelmed and don't know where to start?
Well, I've clearly never been the best at organizing myself but since I started traveling in 2009, I've learned a LOT, especially from my mistakes ????
And since many of you have been asking me how I plan and get ready for a trip
Here is a video covering ALL the points you could think about:
MONEY. HEALTH. DOCUMENTS. BUDGET. TRANSPORTATION. ACCOMMODATION. APPS I USE
With this video, I'm also helping you figure out what kind of travel best suits you and
Even created a FREE GUIDE with everything I talk about in the video in more details:
So you won't even need to take notes ;)
As always, between the scripting, filming, editing, writing the guide, I've spent a lot of time on this so I would love to have your feedback if this video was helpful :)
Thanks for watching
