Onomichi City is located in Western Japan in Hiroshima Prefecture, on Japan's inland sea.
It is one of the most traditional and beautiful temple towns in Japan, with around 25 temples located within 20 minutes walk of the railway station.

Exploring Some Traditional Streets in Hiroshima, Japan
This is Day 2 of the tour where we explore the traditional and older part of Hiroshima. If you are searching for a more off the beaten path take to this prefecture, Onomichi highly recommended.
I was invited by JNTO (Japan National Tourism Organization) and JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) to go on an epic 5 day tour around Hiroshima, Okayama, Kagawa and Tokushima Prefecture.

■TOKYO: Asakusa
Asakusa, one of Tokyo's most popular tourist destinations, has been prosperous as the temple town of Senso-ji since the Edo period.
The feel of Edo still remains here and attracts tourists.
There are many interesting places such as the famous Kaminarimon gate and Nakamise Street lined up as the symbols of Asakusa. Tourists can also travel around the town by rickshaw.

Onomichi, Hiroshima faces the Seto Inland Sea with mountains at the rear. It is a scenic port town that has thrived as a center for marine traffic. It is also registered as a Japanese heritage site, known as “the inner garden city weaved by the Onomichi channel”. There are over 20 temples on the mountain, and the town is also known for its large population of cats.

Japan Vlog 27-- A stroll through Hiroshima's shopping center
For Golden Week Jason (myargonauts) drove Mike and I to Hiroshima. After visiting the Memorial Peace Park and Museum we walked around Hiroshima's shopping center and tried some yummy okonomiyaki!
Hiroshima is a much bigger city than I'm used to right now and there were so many other foreigners there that at times I didn't feel like I was in Japan anymore.
Thanks again to Jason! We had a great time!

I tried Hiroshima's take on the Chinese tantanmen today after seeing it featured in a Japanese TV program!

Hiroshima bikes
When I visited Hiroshima in 2012, I noticed that people rode bikes differently than in my home town of Melbourne (Australia). Unlike us, they didnt seem worried about speed, and they knew how to ride between pedestrians without terrifying them. Plus they had some great bike-comfort accessories. Here's my little video finally put together. ひろしまのじてんしゃ - hope that's correct for Hiroshima bikes!

Hiroshima - Cherry Blossoms - Okonomiyaki
Cherry blossom time is a special time of year all around the world but no where is it celebrated in a more intense manner than in Japan. I was fortunate to have been in Japan at the right time of year to experience this phenomenon. Above all, the celebration is a very social thing that has to be seen to believed.
Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning what you like or what you want, and yaki meaning grilled or cooked (cf. yakitori and yakisoba). Okonomiyaki is mainly associated with the Kansai or Hiroshima areas of Japan, but is widely available throughout the country. Toppings and batters tend to vary according to region. Tokyo okonomiyaki is usually smaller than a Hiroshima or Kansai okonomiyaki (wikipeida)

In Tomonoura Town, located at the southern end of Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, visitors can experience a traditional, Japanese port town.
The old town center has many breathtaking alleys, decorated by rustic houses with wooden facades. Visitors can find a few stores selling the local medicinal liquor, homeishu, in this area. And in the bay front area, visitors can see many clusters of many small, traditional boats.
The Joyato Lighthouse, a popular landmark of Tomonoura, was built during the Edo Period. Visitors can visit this eleven meter tall structure at the waterfront directly south of the town center.
