Japanese Onsen are natural hot springs and around them are amazing places where you can bathe in many different kinds of waters. Bath tourism to onsen towns has always been popular with Japanese but as more people come to Japan for a visit, more are visiting the onsen and there are hundreds of hot spring towns.
Onsen baths are loaded with minerals that are good for the body, making your skin silky soft. Most of the water in these areas seeps from the ground, the hot water being the reason why many towns exist at that particular spot, their history rooting in its water.
It's the one do not miss recommendations I have for any trip to Japan. Every onsen is different so in this episode, I visit 13 different onsen towns in Fukushima prefecture, most with history going back centuries.

▶︎ How much is a night at a Ryokan / Traditional Japanese Inn?
It is usually charged by the person instead of the room because it includes 2 meals, dinner and breakfast. On average, I have spent between 12,000 yen ($100) to 22,000 ($180) per person for a night and here is why it is worth it.
Of all the experiences you will have in Japan, this will be the one you remember the most, dressing in a cotton kimono (yukata) to walk down to dinner, bathing outdoors in a hot spring in the snow, extraordinary Japanese service, amazingly beautiful meals ... you're paying for an experience not just a stay.

The natural spring waters of the Mukaitaki Hot Spring. The inn has a number of different baths, each of them with different properties. In addition to the traditional Kitsuneyu, which dates back to the inn's days as a recreation facility for Aizu's samurai rulers, the inn boasts three different family baths and one large bath, known as the Sarunoyu, for communal bathing. The water emerges at close to 60 degrees, and is brought down to a more comfortable 42--45 degrees as it passes through a series of pipes. No additional heating or dilution takes place.
Ryokan Ohnuma Onsen
Ryokan Onuma is located in Naruko Onsen hot spring resort in Miyagi Prefecture and is a small onsen inn founded more than 100 years ago. We have eight unique baths and six of them can be used as a private bath.
Wi-Fi is available at our ryokan. Naruko Onsen-kyo Village is one of the oldest hot spring resorts in Japan, with a 1,200-year history. It is home to about 400 sources of hot springs and has nine kinds of water properties among 11 that have been found in Japan.
Our ryokan is conveniently located a five-minute walk from JR Naruko-gotenyu Station and is a good base for sightseeing in the Tohoku region.

Spiffy Places to See in Japan: Aizu Fukushima Part 1
My Trip In March to Aizu of Fukushima Prefecture.
Myself and Coworker Joel decided to road trip it north for a weekend of Onsen and Sightseeing. In this video we visit the Okawa Onsen Resort, Ouchijuku (old trading post town) and Aizu Castle.
To get to Aizu the best way is to rent a car but you need a international or Japanese license to do it. Car rentals are cheap, usually ranging from 70-100$ a day including gas and Freeway tolls. We personally like to use NicoNico Rent a car.
Fukishima is in dire need of tourism money since the 2011 earthquake so I encourage everyone to go, we had a great time, helped support the local community and enjoyed the sights and nature of the area. We at no time felt unsafe and didnt sweat the radiation issue. We didnt want that to stop us from having a good time and doing what we can to help stimulate the local economy.

The guys take a short trip into Misawa City and visit a local park. It is actually part of the Hoshino Resort property. Trip to Koriyama in Fukushima Prefecture!
I went to Koriyama in Fukushima prefecture! Actually the main thing in Koriyama was about a business meeting, but you can see what I enjoyed there. Basically I was walking around the station, but I enjoyed so much in one and a half days!

Nasushiobara Hot Springs - Located on the Hokigawa River, Shiobara Onsen was discovered over 800 years ago. You’ll find eleven different hot springs, each with a different mineral content, throughout the resort area. The most popular outdoor onsens are located along the river. There are also several hiking and walking trails. For a thrill, take a stroll across one of the suspension bridges that cross the river. Momijidani O-tsuribasi is the longest suspension bridge in Japan of its kind. This is also a popular place for skiers and snowboarders in winter.
