Atami one of 3rd Great Sea & Hot Spring Resorts in Japan
Atami (熱海), part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, is a coastal hot spring resort in Shizuoka prefecture, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula southwest of Tokyo, Japan.
Atami means hot ocean. The town has been a popular hot spring resort since the 8th century and is ranked as one of Japan's Three Great Hot Springs (三大温泉 Sandaionsen). These days the coastline is heavily developed and covered in identikit concrete hotels, but in summer the sandy beach is popular.
Atami is on the Tokaido Shinkansen main line, just 50 minutes from Tokyo (¥3570 for an unreserved seat)
Atami is also a stop on the regular Tokaido Line which runs from Tokyo (1 3/4 hours to Atami, ¥1890) and continues on to Shizuoka and Hamamatsu.
Atami is a popular day or weekend trip from Tokyo for scuba diving, largely due to its proximity to the city (40 minutes by shinkansen).
Sites feature some spectacular soft corals and sea life including nudibranchs, moray eels, and octopus.
Atami also has one of the only divable wrecks in mainland Japan.
Atami MOA Museum of Art (MOA美術館), opened in 1982 to house some of the collection of eccentric millionaire Mokichi Okada (see box), the displays here run the gamut from Japanese calligraphy to Tang-dynasty pottery, with a roomful of Matisse, a tea room covered in gold leaf and Socialist-realist bronze sculptures thrown in for flavor.
古屋旅館 Furuya Ryokan has pricey but very exquisite large rooms and suites often providing a gorgeous outdoor private hot bath belonging to rooms. The basement has a large common bath and outdoor bath Rotemburo.
Prices per person start at 24,300 yen and include breakfast and dinner.

Japan: Tattooed rugby fans divide hot spring resorts amid Yakuza fears
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
As rugby fans gathered in the famous spa resort of Beppu for a World Cup clash on Wednesday, several addressed the topic of tattoo culture in Japan in light of bans on entry into public hot springs for those wearing body ink.
A number of tattooed New Zealand rugby fans, who were in Beppu for the clash between their national team, the All Blacks, and Canada, say they had heard of difficulties in trying to access hot springs - or onsens - in the city. Those wearing skin ink are often associated with organised crime and the yakuza in Japan, meaning they are not always welcome into spas and public baths.
While fans agreed that visitors must respect the host country's rules and traditions, some highlighted the fact that most tattoos worn by Kiwis tend to be related to Maori and Pacific island culture, and therefore entry to the onsens should be more flexible in such cases.
A lot of the tattoos are traditional and very much Pacific island and Maori tattoos, maybe that's the difference. Maybe the fashion ones might have to be covered up I get, that but maybe the traditional ones that are the Pacific islands and Maori, maybe that should be a little bit more acceptable, said New Zealander Rebecca West.
Beppu is famous for its hot springs, some 2,000 of which are dotted throughout the southern Japanese city.
The 2019 Rugby World Cup, which is taking place in Asia for the first time ever, is being held in Japan from September 20 to November 2.

People of Yonezawa: Onogawa Onsen
Ono no Komachi, one of the most influential waka poets of Japanese history, is said to have
been the founder of the Onogawa Onsen in Yonezawa. This installment of ‘People of Yonezawa’ begins with one of her most well-known poems, before we are given a tour of the traditional onsen hot spring town.
Naoto Endo, the ‘Wakadanna’ or Young Master of the ‘Suzu no Yado Toufuya Ryokan’ gives us a special insight into the importance of hot spring culture, as well as the delights that Onogawa Onsen has to offer. Welcome to a more traditional side of Japan.

Tour in Lake Hamanako, Japan - Can Travel
Tour in Lake Hamanako, Japan
Hamanako is a large lake at the Pacific Coast of western Shizuoka Prefecture. Originally a fresh water lake separated from the ocean, Hamanako got connected to the ocean as a result of an earthquake in 1498 and its water turned salty. The majority of Hamanako's attractions are concentrated around the Kanzanji Onsen, a hot spring resort on an inlet along the lake's eastern shores.

Amazing Hot Spring resort KAYA no IE 萱の家武尊温泉川場群馬
KAYA no IE 萱の家 is one of the most wonderful Japanese Ryokan hotels with included hot spring (onsen), breakfast and dinner.
Situated on the Akakura river near by 川場 Kawaba Villge in 群馬 Gunma prefecture, 武尊温泉 Hotaka Hot Spring has always a perfect temperature to allow long lasting relaxation to the body. The high ceiling of the large bath hall and the many windows reflect the vivid green forest trees and allow your spirit the freedom to relax along with your body. Pine tree wood gives an exquisite color and feel to the hot spring and makes you feel one with the nature.
The rooms are designed in old Japanese traditional architecture, very large, each having a terrace to enjoy tea time while watching the forest and listening to the river flow.
The unusual high ceilings are everywhere adorned with traditional Japanese lamps in intricate designs. Massive wood blocks and white walls are the basics of this architecture as well as the roof covered in solid layers of straw.
An ancient style fire place in the lounge is surprisingly glowing at any time of the day.
Breakfast and dinner are included, a fantastic home made all vegetarian cuisine will amaze even the convinced meat lovers! Every dish is prepared with a perfection, care and delicacy that is specific only to Japan. The famous master cook always creates new dishes in order to surprise even the most gourmet guests. The richness of every meal will satisfy even the hungriest traveller.
A large concert room (with piano and stage) is part of this establishment and you could hold there your wedding or a secret concert, a big party or a conference.
The surroundings of KAYA no IE will entertain you to the fullest on your daytime trips. Situated near the Kawaba Village, you can enjoy fishing and playing in the Akakura river right in front of the hotel, or you can hike to the nearby flower gardens, animal parks or just stroll through the forest or along the picturesque rice paddies and wheat fields.
Reservations can be done from oversea at Tel.+81-278-522-220 or from Japan at 0278-522-220
