Japan Vlog - Hot springs in Beppu and ryokan in Yufuin

We took the shinkansen down to Kyushu to visit the small hot spring town Beppu, and then stay at a lovely ryokan in Yufuin.

Beppu:
First we took the Shinkansen (with our JR pass) from Shin-Osaka to Kokura, where we then took the Sonic Express to Beppu station. I think the whole trip took about 4 hours. We used this website to search for the best route:
Nishitetsu Resort Inn Beppu
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night, and we had a pleasant stay. It was quite close to the station and the beach (although it wasn’t beach season yet), and it also had a nice hot spring and good breakfast. The room was a bit small tho :’D
Aqua Garden at Suginoi Hotel
From Beppu station we took a free shuttle bus up to this hotel located on the hill, where you can look out over the city. They have a place called the Aqua Garden where you can wear swimsuits and bath together.
Toyotsune Honten
Right around the corner of our hotel we found this little place with lots of traditional japanese food. In the evening you can choose from different multi-course meals (kaiseki). Apparently they are famous for their tempura don, or tokujo tendon, but we decided to go for a Shiki Set and the Omakase Gozen (I think?? maybe we only had the “Mini Gozen”, I can’t remeber)

Yufuin:
The next day we took a train from Beppu station to Yufuin station, where we stayed at a wonderful ryokan nestled on top of a hill: Yufuin Sanso Waremokou. Ryokan are Japanese style inns found throughout the country, especially in hot spring resorts such as Beppu and Yufuin.
In our room we had two private open-air hot springs (onsen), and one bath inside as well. There was also a big open-air hot spring at the very top of the facility that you could book for private use. Needless to say we absolutely LOVED this place.
Apart from the amazing hot spring baths, dinner was definitely the highlight of our stay. Ryokan dinners usually mirror kaiseki ryori (懐石料理), which is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. They have different ingredients depending on the season, and for our stay we chose the Shabu-Shabu, a hotpot dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables boiled in water.
The next day, around 8 in the morning, we had a wonderful Japanese style breakfast, with multiple dishes with local and seasonal specialties. I'm not a big fan of tofu but I was surprised how delicious it was. I think this is called hiyayakko (冷奴), chilled tofu with toppings.
Then it was time to leave, but we didn’t want to ;_; All of the staff were so friendly and they came out to wave to us when we left. I want to go back again already!

Relaxing Private Onsen in Japan - Yufuin Gettouan Hotel Review
An amazing private Onsen (hot spring bath) in every room of this traditional Japanese hotel! This is definitely one of the most unique onsen hotels that I have ever stayed in! The Yufuin Gettouan Hotel is located in Kyushu Japan in the Mt Aso region and only has 18 rooms.

Tsuka No Ma Onsen - Oita - 束の間 - 4K Ultra HD
Tsuka No Ma Onsen, formerly Shoya No Yakata, is a gorgeous Onsen Ryokan located in the spring resort area of Yufuin in Oita prefecture and renowned for its natural blue hot springs.
Overlooking both Mt. Yufu Dake and Mt. Kuju this roughly 16500m2 area offers no less than 20 different private lodgings in the form of small houses as well as reformed traditional houses turned restaurants that will offer not only authentic Japanese Kaiseki cuisine but also some of the best steaks in Oita prefecture.
Finally, please note that the Onsen is accessible to all whether or not you are staying at the Ryokan!

Today we’re back in Japan exploring the region of Kyushu. Kyushu is home to famous cities like Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Nagasaki etc, and also home to one of Japan’s most beautiful onsen towns too.
In this vlog we visit the town of Yufuin, located in the Oita prefecture of Japan. Just a 2 hour + train right from Fukuoka’s Hakata Station, Yufuin serves as a great base for exploring the east coast of the Kyushu region, including areas such as Hita, Beppu & Oita.
Yufuin itself has so much to offer, but in upcoming vlogs we’ll be covering other areas in Kyushu that we did day trips too, so be sure to click the subscribe button and turn on post notifications.

Voici mon dernier vlog de la saison au Japon (à moins que vous n'en réclamiez encore). Cette fois-ci je vous emmène dans un ryokan perché dans la montagne où il n'y a ni connexion, ni réseau, ni électricité. C'est un ryokan MAGNIFIQUE !
L'ambiance est décontractée et sereine. Il y a peu de monde et on peut profiter pleinement des onsens et de la nature sans se soucier de la vie tumultueuse des grandes villes.
L'établissement s'appelle Lamp no Yado Aoni Onsen et je vous invite à le découvrir avec moi.

The Greatest Hot Spring and Forest in Yufuin | Japan

Ryokan experience in Beppu
LITTLE RESORT TOWN - Yufuin, Oita
Yufuin is a little resort town in Oita. Most people go for onsen but I wasn't up for onsen and decided to see the other things the town has to offer.
I stopped by one of the many cafes, walked around Lake Kinrin, explored some shops, and visited Yufuin Floral Village.
All in all, it's a cute town and worth a little visit if you're passing through the area.
