Japan Rail Shinkansen Stop | Echigo Yuzawa Station 越後湯沢
Joetsu Shinkansen makes a stop here at Echigo Yuzawa Station in Niigata which is 80 min from Tokyo. This place can be a day trip in itself! The station has an Onsen, soba noodle restaurant and Japanese sake vending machines all with locals brews. Let’s have ourselves a little adventure, eh?

I always love to stay in traditional ryokan. And in this trip we got to stay one as well, which is the 'Hotel Yuzawa Yuzawa Denkiya'. It's so impressive! The owner and staffs are very welcoming and helpful. The ryokan also provides the indoor/outdoor onsen! which is so good to dip yourself in after skiing :D

WINTER WONDERLAND NEAR TOKYO?! (Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort Niigata)
Last minute trip we took early in the morning to get to this winter wonderland gem in the province of niigita. The view was breathtaking and everything else was just amazing. It was truly a winter wonderland filled with thrilling activities!!

Winter in Gala Yuzawa and Near Hoshino Onsen
This is just a short clip of my first winter experience when I was in Japan in December 2018.
There are two places in this short clip. The first place in the beginning of the video is near Hoshino Onsen, and the other part is Gala Yuzawa.

Japan - Niigata Prefecture Echigoyuzawa Kaikake Hot Spring
Niigata Prefecture, Echigoyuzawa (越後湯沢）, is located at about 1.5 hour from Tokyo by Bullet Train. From the station, you can take a bus for about 30 min and arrive at Kaikake hot spring （貝掛温泉). It is considered as hidden hot spring as there is nothing around the hotel beside snow and river. The open hot spring without a roof so that you can feel the snow coming down to your head. The water temperature is not hot so you can stay for hours without feeling hot.
Around the station you can go skiing as there are lot of ski resort around. So you can enjoy hot spring and ski at the same time.
JR Echigo Yuzawa Station, Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture
JR Echigo Yuzawa Station is the main access point to the Yuzawa Town in Niigata Prefecture. Yuzawa Town is the largest ski and snow boarding resort in Japan and easily accessible. You can take Joetsu Shinkansen line bullet train from either Niigata or Tokyo to get to Echigo Yuzawa Station.
