WHERE DO INDIANS LIVE IN CANADA?
India is, without a doubt, one of the marvels of the 21st century from an economic standpoint, especially when viewed in the context of where it was just a century ago. In 1917, India was still part of the British Empire, same as Canada. For hundreds of years, India had been under British control, and had served as the crown jewel for the Eastern portion of the Empire in many ways, a great many of which did not, in turn, benefit the local Indians all that much. Even following the incredible success of the immortal Mahatma Gandhi’s revolutionary non-violent form of protest which in turn let to, well, a revolution, there were doubts about whether or not a nation with such a massive population and internal strife could even feed itself, let alone compete.
And here we are, in 2017, when the question isn’t if India can compete with Canada, the US, the UK, and the rest of the West, but, indeed, how those nations can keep up with the massive manufacturing boom that’s occurring in India. To be clear, not all the manufacturing jobs in the region benefit the overall economy rather than Western interests, but that’s a story for another day. Today, we’re focusing on what happens after just about any nation undergoes the sort of radical transformation India has in the last century—immigration and emigration. The forces of change have led many to leave India as foreign businesses have arrived.
So, what are the best locations for Indian nationals looking to immigrate to Canada? Let’s take a look.
First of all, it should be noted that even the term “Indian-Canadian” is something of a misnomer. India is such a huge and vast subcontinent and country that there are a litany of different ethnicities, languages, cultures, religions and traditions within that overarching umbrella term of “Indian.” That being said, the Canadian government largely tags these groups as all being “Indian-Canadian,” and in any case, no matter what Indian culture you belong to, you’re sure to find a community waiting for you in Toronto. One of the most immigrant-friendly cities in North America, more than half of the entire Indian-Canadian population resides in Toronto. It is home to a wide variety of different Indian cultures, meaning that you have a good chance of finding fellow Indian nationals who more closely fit your own linguistic, cultural, and religious background, rather than merely immigrating somewhere with the semi-helpful moniker of “Indian-Canadian” to guide you.
As English-speaking Canada’s most world-renowned city, Toronto is home to not just the majority of the nation’s Indian-Canadian population—and all the subcultures therein—but likewise has some of the largest and most important Indian structures in the nation. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto is the nation’s largest Hindu Temple, while the Ontario Khalsa Darbar is Canada's largest Sikh gurdwara.
Vancouver is one of the most popular North American immigration locales, period. This is especially true of individuals looking to immigrate to the Pacific Northwest, Canada, or both.
Vancouver is home to a large Punjabi and Sikh minority. This is notable, as the latter in particular has had difficulty assimilating into American and Canadian society. Hindus are also welcome in Vancouver. Festivals, temples, and large-scale public celebrations of all different forms of Indian heritage and culture are present in the crown jewel of British Columbia. The nearby town of Abbotsford is home to the Gur Sikh Temple. Constructed in 1911, it is the oldest Sikh temple in North America.
One of the many reasons the Pacific Northwest has sprung to life over the past few decades has been its booming computer and tech industries, both of which are likewise huge in India as well. As such, if you’re looking to immigrate to the Pacific Northwest for business opportunities in these fields but do not wish to move to a larger city such as Vancouver or Seattle in the United States, you may want to try Surrey, a smaller but Indian-friendly locale also located in British Columbia.
Surrey is especially welcoming to Indian Sikhs, with as much as 16.3% of the population reporting as such, an impressive number anywhere in North America, especially in the Great White North. April 13th is given over to the celebration of Vaisakhi, an important festival for both Sikhs and the Punjab region of India as a whole, and one which historically commemorates the start of the harvest while carrying strong religious undertones for those of practising Sikhism. In 2008, as many as 100,000 attended. As such, if you’re a Sikh looking to immigrate to the Pacific Northwest for a fresh start or to take advantage of the booming tech sector, Surrey may prove to be a terrific fit.

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada is a public aquarium in Toronto, Ontario. The aquarium is one of three aquariums owned and operated by Ripley Entertainment. It is located in downtown Toronto, just southeast of the CN Tower. The aquarium features several aquatic exhibits including a walk-through tank. The aquarium has 5.7 million litres (1.5 million gallons) of marine and freshwater habitats from across the world. The exhibits hold 13,500 exotic sea and freshwater specimens from more than 450 species.
A Ripley's Aquarium was originally planned in 2004 to be built in Niagara Falls, Ontario[2] next to what is now Great Wolf Lodge around 2007, but plans fell through and Ripley's eventually relocated to Toronto.[3] Construction began on the attraction in August 2011 with a final cost approaching C$130 million. The aquarium opened to the public in October 2013.
The project was a partnership with three levels of government. The federal government's Canada Lands Company contributed $10 million to the project to develop the John Street Corridor linking Front Street with the aquarium, the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre. The Government of Ontario contributed $11 million to the project, and the City of Toronto provided property-tax incentives amounting to between $8 million and $12 million over the first twelve years of the aquarium.
Ripley's Aquarium has been the target of animal liberation groups such as TARA (Toronto Aquarium Resistance) and MAD (Marineland Animal Defence), which claim animal captivity is synonymous with animal abuse and regularly conduct protests and demonstrations at the facility. Prominent animal conservationist Bob Timmons has also publicly spoken out against Ripley Aquarium's capture of endangered tiger sharks.
The aquarium holds 5.7 million litres (1.5 million gallons) of water and shows marine and freshwater habitats from around the world.[7] The aquarium is organized into nine galleries: Canadian Waters, Rainbow Reef, Dangerous Lagoon, Discovery Centre, The Gallery, Ray Bay, Planet Jellies, Life Support Systems and the Shoreline Gallery. It is home to 16,000 animals.
The Canadian Waters exhibit features animals from all the bodies of water surrounding the country. The gallery has 17 habitats. Some animals featured in this exhibit include: alewife, largemouth bass, American lobster, wolf eel, lump fish, giant pacific octopus, china rockfish
The Rainbow Reef features animals from the Indo-Pacific water regions and is the most colourful gallery in the exhibit, hence its name. Some of the species in this exhibit include: Picasso triggerfish, humbug dascyllus, emperor angelfish, pajama cardinalfish, unicorn surgeonfish. The exhibit also features an interactive dive show.
The Dangerous Lagoon is an underwater tunnel with a moving side walk, which is the aquarium's largest tank. Some of the featured animals in this exhibit are: sand tiger shark, sandbar shark, roughtail stingray, green sawfish, green sea turtles.
The Discovery Centre features various hands-on activities such as underwater viewing bubbles, a pop-up research submarine and a touch pool which allows visitors to touch living fossils. Discovery Centre inhabitants include: clownfish, palette surgeonfish, horseshoe crab, guineafowl puffer. The Touch exhibits give visitors the opportunity to touch the skins of various animals like sharks and sting-rays with the help of aquarium employees. This gallery is home to whitespotted bamboo sharks, brownbanded bamboo sharks, southern stingray, cownose rays.
The Gallery exhibit, also known as Mother Nature's Art Gallery, features some of the most delicate underwater species from all over the world. This exhibit features the red lionfish, electric eel, lined seahorse, weedy sea dragon and the archerfish. This exhibit features six salt water and three fresh water exhibits.
The Planet Jellies exhibit has colour changing displays with five species of jellyfish. These include: pacific sea nettle, moon jelly, spotted jelly, and upside-down jelly.
The Ray Bay exhibit is focused around three distinct species of stingrays. Occasionally visitors can see aquarium divers feeding the stingrays during their daily interactive dive shows. Some of the inhabitants of this exhibit include the bonnethead shark, cownose ray, and the southern stingray.
The Life Support System gives visitors a behind the scenes look at the aquarium’s life support systems room. The building features the largest life support systems room of Ripley’s three aquariums. This gallery features equipment for Dangerous Reef and Ray Bay.

What is Sidewalk Labs?
My Patreon Page:
Sidewalk Labs is a subsidiary company of Alphabet, founded in 2015 as a spinoff from Google, with the goal to improve city life for everyone by developing and incubating urban technologies to address issues like cost of living, efficient transportation, and energy usage.
They call this, building cities from the internet up.
Sidewalk looked throughout North America, Western Europe, and Australia to choose the first location of their first project and they ended up choosing Toronto, not the whole city, but the eastern waterfront which is largely barren and underutilized, consisting of more than 325 hectares of land.
A quick summary of Toronto, it is the Capital City of the Canadian Province of Ontario. With a population of 2.7 million people, it is the largest city in Canada and 4th largest city in North America.
Interestingly Toronto is the most diverse country in the world, almost half of its population are foreign-born with no single nationality or culture dominating the immigration population,
Here’s a map of the city’s diversity, each color representing a different ethnic group, the city contains Chinatown, Greektown, Koreatown, Little India, Little Italy, Little Jamaica, Little Portugal and a polish community.
Toronto’s diversity is a big part of Alphabet CEO Larry Page and Sidewalk Labs’ decision to pick the city, along with its booming tech sector and probably, more importantly, the 3 levels of government that support the project, called Sidewalk Toronto.
Sidewalk Toronto will be the test bed for Sidewalk Lab’s plan to make their vision of building a city from the internet up a reality.
The project will have 2 phases, phase 1 will start with a 5-hectare neighborhood on the waterfront called Quayside and will house around 5,000 residents and phase 2 will be expanding to the rest of the waterfront and house tens of thousands of residents.
Quayside will be the pilot program for Sidewalk’s Labs urban innovation platform and according to their vision, it will feel like no other neighborhood in the world.
And there are two main components in Sidewalk Labs platform, the physical layer, and digital layer.
The Physical Layer, it is broken into four parts.
The first is the Buildings, Sidewalk Labs’ urban innovation platform involves a system of flexible-use spaces that can evolve over time allowing the community a greater control of their environment. The buildings will be able to shift rapidly between purposes based on user needs.
Sidewalk approach to constructing the buildings will be like how cars are built, through a vertically integrated process spanning the full product lifecycle from design to delivery.
Buildings will be based on modern modular methods, additionally, they will create a comprehensive parts library and establish a construction system that has full interoperability.
In other words, all of the parts will work with one another, regardless of scale.
There will be a variety of designs, such as, flexible street-level shops, reconfigurable workspaces that share by multiple organizations and be resized on demand and apartments based on modular designs that can grow with the needs of families.
The building system centers on Loft Structures, that consists of a strong skeletal structure that can accommodate a variety of shapes, floor plans, and styles.
Within the Loft Structure, there are two concepts, the core Loft, and the Next-Gen Bazaar.

About Mat Piche
Coming from a long line of carpenters, Mat has always had an interest in building and renovations- you could even say it is in his 'blood.' Combine this with his passion for real estate investing and his desire to achieve financial freedom for both himself and his clients and together you have one motivated real estate agent!
As a child, Mat's family struggled financially like many others and early on, he knew that there was more to life than just 'living to get by.' After graduating from high school, he began his carpentry apprenticeship with a small renovations company, working alongside two senior employees who soon became his mentors. With the help from his mentors, Mat soon became a skilled carpenter in residential renovations. A contract with Ontario Housing solidified these skills as he gained both hands on experience and knowledge of residential homes early in his career.
Nearing the end of his apprenticeship, Mat began to question his future as a company-employed carpenter. While he loved the work, he found himself caught up in the never-ending 'rat-race' they call life- waking up at 5:45am to be at work by 7:00am, racing home at 5:00pm to eat dinner and go to bed, just to start the cycle again the next day. As a 20 year old, this is something he had never envisioned for himself and he delved into a journey of self-reflection and analysis. While for some this type of self-reflection comes later in life, for Mat this type-A mentality was nothing new.
Knowing he needed to take control of his life, Mat quickly shifted his focus to real estate investing. He constantly studied the ins and outs of how to purchase property like a sophisticated investor. Much of his knowledge and guidance came from his membership to REIN (Real Estate Investment Network), a network he is still actively involved with today.
I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and setting you on the path to financial freedom. – Mat Piche
