Exploring Qawra Malta
Qawra is one of the most popular tourist areas in Malta, known for being a hotspot for chilled out vibes (yes that is a bit of an oxymoron). With the towns of Bugibba and St Paul Bay making up the hub of the area, this is the place to be if you want to have a holiday in Malta that is nothing but an exploration in relaxing by the pool and only fretting about what to wear to the beach.
With much of the tourist hotspots being nicely huddled on the east of the island, Bugibba is a preferred social spot for locals form the west and south. Qawra has grown exponentially over the last few decades as it was originally just a small farming and fishing area.
The area is also a relocation spot for many British ex-pats who want to enjoy life in the Mediterranean but don’t want to be bogged down the “too much like home” feeling that the Costa Del Sol provides.
If you’re planning a holiday to Qawra, the chances are you’ll be staying at the Qawra Palace Hotel (
The 4 Star resort is located right on the sea front and is known as one of the only hotels in the area that locals actually visit for al fresco dining (usually this is a big no no).
Wondering what there is to do in the area? I’ve done a little research and found some top attractions for all types of holiday-goer:
- The Malta National Aquarium is the top rated attraction Trip Advisor and is a safe family day out to see what local sea life is like.
- Water-skiing & Jet skiing is also a very popular activity. The water on the north side of the island is quite choppy at times, so if you’re the type of rider who enjoys a bumpy ride on the waves, I’d highly recommend Waterworld Watersports Center or Flo-Jo’s.
- Also, many people don’t know this, but you can gamble in Malta and one of the top casinos is right on the Qawra seafront. Oracle Casino has everything you’d expect from a world class casino with craps, poker and all types of betting tables. I would recommend not going in the afternoon though as this is when you’ll find people who are mostly there just to get out of the heat.
This video essentially shows what you could get up to if you spent a day in the area doing everything strenuous from lounging by the pool, to chilling out by the beach, to the hard task of enjoying the sunset down by the bay; all signs it can be a hard life for some.
I hope you enjoyed this short video of Qawra in Malta. If enough people like them, I’ll make some more compilation videos or areas around the island.

San Pawl il Bahar | Qawra, St Paul's Bay and Bugibba Malta
Walk through Qawra, Buggiba and San Pawl.
At the beginning you can see what Malta looks like from an airplane, then starting from the beginning of Qawra coast we go through the whole walk. In most places in Malta, the most beautiful parts are right on the coast, while inland cities are mostly residential and just under construction. In this walk we initially pass through the coastal part of Qawra which is a quiet place, then when we reach Qawra Point that part of the coast leading to Buggiba Square is somewhat more attractive, there is a big casino which is the only one in that place, then we pass Regge at least, one relaxing spot on the coast, followed by the Aquarium which is one of the major attractions in the place in the Aquarium itself and there is a restaurant, when we cross the Aquarium we come to Caffe del Mar which is one of the best beach bars in Malta, there everyday parties. As we get closer to Buggiba Square it may be noticed that this part is a bit more urban than the others, we come to Buggiba Square where there are many restaurants and cafes. The walk ends with passing Square and entering the inner city. Otherwise, these three places are so close and so connected that you can cross them in just 10 minutes of walking. The clip recording time was November 2019, as you can see the weather is extremely enjoyable at the time, it won't even be strange to see someone swimming in the sea then. People are extremely friendly, and in Malta, many different nationalities live, you can hear many different languages on the street.
I hope you enjoyed the clip and at least gave you a little description of places like Qawra, San Pawl and Buggiba, if you liked it, like the video and subscribe the channel for more videos like this, thank you.
