Portuguese Food Tour - FULL DAY of Eating in Lisbon, Portugal!
►For more delicious Portuguese food, check out my Lisbon Travel Guide:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera I use:
On Day 27 in Lisbon, Portugal, I made up my mind to eat as much Portuguese food and at some of the best local restaurants in Lisbon. It turned out to be a fantastic day in Lisbon with some seriously good Portuguese food!
00:36 Cafe Martinho Da Arcada at Praça do Comércio - The first place we stopped in the morning is a legendary cafe in Lisbon that is the oldest cafe in Lisbon called Cafe Martinho Da Arcada. The main reason I wanted to go there was to try their pastéis de bacalhau, classic Portuguese food codfish fritters. The coffee and ambience and of the cafe was also nice. Total price - 9.30 EUR
Restaurante Zé da Mouraria (I think it was closed for holidays) - I really wanted to eat at this restaurant during my visit to Lisbon, but unfortunately they were closed for holidays, so if you go to Lisbon and are looking for local Portuguese food, check this place out.
5:32 Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz - For our next meal, although not Portuguese food, but more Mozambican food, we headed over to Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz. The food was remarkable, one of the best meals I had in Lisbon. I first began with some beef samosas which were insanely good, and then had spicy bakra piri piri, spicy lamb ribs. Total price - 35.00 EUR
11:14 Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco - Finally, to try some authentic Portuguese food in Lisbon, we headed over to a restaurant called Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco. This small family run restaurant serves delicious Portuguese food and many of the classics. I ordered bacalhau com grão, codfish with garbanzo beans and carne de porco à alentejana, pork with clams. Along with the delicious local food, what I loved was the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. Total price - 20.15 EUR
22:10 Oceanário de Lisboa (Entrance price - 17 EUR per person) - By this point on this Portuguese food tour of Lisbon, I was feeling pretty full, so we headed over to Oceanário de Lisboa and walked around one of Europe’s biggest aquariums.
24:22 Cafe on Avenida da Liberdade (Coffee - 1.40 EUR) - One of the things I love about Lisbon is the social cafe culture and atmosphere. In the afternoon I was starting to feel pretty sleepy, so before dinner, I had a cup of coffee at an outdoor cafe along Avenida.
25:12 Solar dos Presuntos - For the last Portuguese meal in on this food tour of restaurants in Lisbon, I decided to eat at a restaurants called Solar dos Presuntos. I didn’t know it was going to be such a fancy high end restaurant, but it was our last night in Lisbon, so we decided to go for it. I started with the pata negra, a plate of incredibly good ham. Then I ordered the polvo à lagareiro, some of the most tender octopus I’ve ever had in my life. Finally we also ordered dourada grelhada - gilt-head sea bream fish. The food was expensive, but delicious. Total price - 60.85 EUR.
This was a fantastic day of Portuguese food in Lisbon, and many of the places we ate today were the best restaurants I tried in Lisbon.

Flying on TAP Portugal and Roast Chicken (Frango Assado) - Lisbon, Portugal, Travel Guide!
►Check out my Lisbon travel guide:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera I use:
On Day 24 of our Round the World Trip for Food with Star Alliance, in the morning we flew from Barcelona to Lisbon, Portugal on TAP Portugal airline. After checking into our hotel in Lisbon, we had lunch at a rather tourist Portuguese restaurant and then continued to do a little bit of sightseeing in Lisbon. For dinner, I enjoyed a trend Portuguese meal at Taberna da Rua das Flores.
1:30 Star Alliance Flight #7 on TAP Portugal - The first thing we did during the day was head to the Barcelona airport to catch out flight to Lisbon. Our flight was with TAP Portugal airline, and the flight took about one hour. The flight was nothing special, but it was alright and we soon arrived to Lisbon Portela Airport. From the airport, we decided to take the Aero Bus #1 (3.5 EUR per person) to Avenida da Liberdade which was right next to the hotel we would be staying at in Lisbon.
4:34 The Fontecruz Lisboa Hotel (Marriott Hotel) - For our trip to Lisbon, we stayed at The Fontecruz Lisboa Hotel. It’s a boutique hotel in Lisbon, located along the very pleasant Avenida da Liberdade, a wide and tree lined shopping street in Lisbon. I loved the area, and the hotel was alright, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the dark black theme.
7:25 Lunch at Restaurante Bonjardim - When we arrived to Lisbon we hadn’t eaten lunch, so Ying and I were both extremely hungry. Unfortunately we just didn’t have the energy to go very far to eat lunch (Ying was pregnant and she needed to eat fast!). So we went to a Portuguese food restaurant just down the road from our hotel, and though it wasn’t the most local Portuguese restaurant, we were hungry and the location was right (this is how it sometimes works when you’re traveling). We both ordered the frango asado (roast chicken) and then a bowl of aroz Brasileiro, and a bowl of esparregado. The food was alright, not spectacular, but pretty decent, and it did feel great to eat some a big piece of chicken for some good protein. Total price - 25.10 EUR
12:08 Ascensor da Glória (Price - 3.60 EUR per person roundtrip) - One of the coolest things about Lisbon is the history of the city and the fact that it’s so hilly - and for this reason there are some old vintage funiculars in the city. Right across the square from where we ate lunch we went to the Ascensor da Glória and took the funicular up the hill to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, which is a lookout viewpoint on the top of the hill. The views of Lisbon were spectacular and it was a good place to get my bearings for Lisbon.
14:42 Igreja de São Roque - From the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, we walked over to Igreja de São Roque, the first Jesuit church in Lisbon. The outside of the church looks quite plain, but inside it’s one of the richest churches in Lisbon.
16:52 Café A Brasileira (Price - 1 EUR per cup) - Café A Brasileira is a legendary coffee shop in Lisbon that was a favorite hangout spot for a number of famous Portuguese poets and writers. I’m happy to report the coffee was amazing, and a decent price as well.
18:48 Taberna da Rua das Flores - For dinner, we walked over to a restaurant called Taberna da Rua das Flores. I have to admit that I was hoping to have some good classic traditional Portuguese food. What I didn’t know was that Taberna da Rua das Flores restaurant only serves Portuguese food for lunch and for dinner they serve a fusion of recipes cooked with Portuguese ingredients. Although a little on the trendy side, the food was excellent. Total price - 32.50 EUR.
It was a good day, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get really good Portuguese food, but that’s alright, that’s sometimes the way traveling can be. It was still an excellent day and we enjoyed some good restaurants in Lisbon.

Lisbon, the charming capital of Portugal
On the right hand side bank of the Tagus River, you will find Lisbon, the largest city in Portugal, a historic capital, a city of character and natural charm, where 800 years of different cultural influences mingle with modern trends and lifestyles creating truly spectacular contrasts. This city is famous for its light and climate and offers you wonderful stroll sites throughout several areas of the city. The capital of Portugal offers one of the most cosmopolitan, dynamic and diverse lifestyles in Europe. Eating in Lisbon is always a pleasure. Fresh fish and delicious fruit and vegetables are brought to the markets every day from the surrounding areas and are used to prepare delicious meals. To end on a sweet note you can enjoy a pastry cream tart, pastel de Belém or pastel de nata, to make your mouth water. This tour allows you to become acquainted with the charms of this amazing city and its' magnificent metropolitan region. In the Lisbon sub-region, we visit Sintra and the Pena National Palace and its' magnificent surroundings. The town of Sintra, was designated in 1995 a World Heritage Site for the Cultural Landscape of Sintra. Here we can appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere, contemplate the amazing scenery, hear the rustling of the wind and delight yourself with the odours and scents from the earth, mountains and valleys.
Lisbon City Tour (1 Day)
As you arrive in Belém (Bethlehem in English), you can contemplate two emblematic monuments, the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery. Both monuments are a tribute to the Portuguese Age of Discovery and World Heritage Sites classified by UNESCO. Both were built in the XVI century, the golden age of the Lusitanian Nation. The tower symbolically stands at the precise point where the Restelo Beach use to be; the departure point of ships and caravels on their expeditions to discover the oceans and new worlds. The Jerónimos Monastery's construction begun in 1502 and took 50 years to be completed. This monument is generally referred to as the jewel of the Manuelino style and as the ultimate symbol of the Portuguese Age of Discovery. To end-off this tour, you can enjoy the famous Pastel de Belém, pastries that have been in production since 1837
Sintra, Cabo da Roca and Cascais (1 Day)
Sintra is a beautiful romantic village at the base of the Sintra Mountain Range, whose unique characteristics have made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the Cultural Landscape of Sintra -- i.e., both the natural and built heritage of the village and mountain range are considered. In the nineteenth century, Sintra was the first focus of European Romantic architecture. The guided tour includes a visit to the National Palace of Sintra, the only example of medieval royal palaces in Portugal; an ex-líbris of the village; the beautiful landscape of the Park, followed by a drive to the regional wine cellar of Colares where you can taste the unique regional wine just before arriving at Cabo da Roca; the westernmost point of mainland Europe. The return to Lisbon and the hotel is made driving alongside the coast, passing through the towns of Cascais and Estoril.
Amazing Portuguese food, lunch at Origens, Evora's hidden gem
For today's video, I take you to Evora, in southern portugal. Surrounded by rolling Mediterranean hills than you might mistake for napa Valley if it weren't for the occasional roman Ruin, this city is most well known to travelers for the Temple of Diana that still stands there today, attracting tour groups from across the world on their journeys out of Lisbon.
But my favorite Gem of the city is off the main roads, down a small side street, one can find themselves passing by the modest storefront of Origens, an unassuming restaurant that delivers far more than it advertises.
Appetizers, entrees, and desserts that in many cases would not be found out of place on a michilin starred menu, this restaurant takes all the amazing resources that the bountiful area provides and serves them to customers with expert craftsmanship and skill. Farmer's market veggies, local wine, local olive oil, it all comes together under the care of Chef Gonçalo Queiroz, who's website I will link below.
The menu changes seasonally, but there are several staples to it that can be found most of the time, my personal favorite being the shrimp appetizer. Sauteed in white wine and orange juice, finished with a savory hard sheep's cheese, it's absolutely to die for and worth the walk from the temple on its own.
I could gush endlessly about this restaurant to be honest, but I'll leave it to say that I was gone from Portugal for a year and a half between visits, and this place was the one that I always thought of the moment I thought about returning, and for me, it wouldn't be a trip to portugal without a meal prepared by the chef here.
My understanding is that they are involved in a larger establishment/cooking school that is opening soon, what this means for the future, I don't know. But I hope dearly that I will still be able to find food like the meal that I ate at Origens this April the next time I return to portugal.

Thanks for watching, things are a bit hectic at the moment, but I've got lots of plans for content moving forward, and I hope to get things sorted out in the next month or so.

Lisbon starts celebrating the Lunar New Year
(18 Jan 2020) Lisbon residents on Saturday took part in a street parade to welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year.
The parade featured performers in rat costumes as 2020 marks the Year of the Rat - the first animal to repeat the 12-year cycle that appears in the Chinese zodiac.
Participants marched down Almirante Reis avenue, which runs through a district where the majority of Lisbon's Chinese community live and operate businesses.
The festivities continued throughout the day in a nearby park where hundreds gathered to watch traditional Chinese performances, including lion and dragon dances.
Lisbon resident Aparecida Jan said that the celebrations were important to people living in China and elsewhere in the world, as they represent unity for the Chinese community.
The Lunar New Year, which is also known as Spring Festival, officially begins on Jan. 25 and runs until Feb. 11, 2021.
Celebrations continue for 15 days, involving various family rituals.
The Year of the Rat is associated with prosperity, and those who believe in it hope for rapid personal and professional growth this year.

Rainy day in Lisbon
After some rainy days, I decided to make this video. A video where most of the footage illustrates a bad weather, rainy, cloudy day where the darker colors dominate. However, it doesn’t mean that it's an ugly day, I see more as a different day from the classic blue sky. These are the days where the most spectacular sunsets emerge (as you see in the photo). I hope you like the video, this vision.

Фуникулер Лиссабон. Telecabine Lisboa. Gondola Lift Lisbon.
Прокатиться в телекабине с Маргаритой Шараповой.
The Nations Park Gondola Lift was inaugurated on March of 1998 for the International Exposition of Lisbon (EXPO’98), nowadays, it is one of the mandatory touristic attractions of this leisure area in Lisbon. This aerial lift is owned by the company Telecabine Lisboa, which is responsible for the exploitation and maintenance of the installation. The Gondola Lift was one of the biggest attractions of the EXPO’98, having recorded a huge affluence of passengers.
This installation is endowed with 40 closed cabins with automatic doors and capacity for 8 passengers spread over two seats. The course develops on the estuary of the Tagus River, a few meters from the riverfront, with the towers massifs seated on the riverbed. The towers have a reduced visual impact. The South terminal (where the drive is) is located on Passeio de Neptuno, next to the Oceanarium and the North terminal (where the cable tensioning system is housed and also where the offices are) is located on Passeio das Tágides, next to the old Vasco da Gama Tower, now the My Riad hotel. The access and exit areas and the ticket offices are at ground level and the equipments are in the upper floors of the terminals, in other words, the stations. The buildings and all the equipments including stations, towers and cabins are white and/or blue in color in a beautiful contrast between the blue sky and the river.
The trip lasts 8 to 12 minutes on a course of 1230 meters, hovering over the Tagus River at 30 meters high, where we see a breathtaking panorama of the Nations Park including the Oceanarium, the Portugal Pavilion, the towers of St. Gabriel and St. Raphael, the Atlantic Pavilion (Meo Arena), the Vasco da Gama Tower (My Riad hotel) and the Vasco da Gama Bridge. A magnificent and unique experience...
