The orangutans of Borneo Indonesia.

My tour in Tanjung Puting Borneo Indonesia and the Orangutans. I flew into Pangkalanbun and jumped on a klotok - small boat (3 days, 2 night) to work our way into the rainforest. We saw salt water crocodiles, dolphins, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, fresh water crocodiles, monitor lizards, amazing ants, dung beetles and orangutans.

The boat takes you to three feeding stations, the most famous being camp leakey. The park rangers do their call for the orangutans and provides bananas for them to feed on. It is my understanding that the orangutans that come to these feeding stations are rehabilitated rather and being fully wild. However, while on the boat you would periodically see wild orangutans near the waters edge or swimming. An amazing experience to say the least.

Orangutan Adventure Tour in Tanjung Puting National Park, Borneo

Day 1 PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT - KUMAI PORT - TANJUNG HARAPAN
Upon arrival in Borneo airport of Pangkalanbun, you will be picked up by our guide and take you to Kumai port by car for about 20 minutes and then cruise the river of Tanjung Puting National Park by klotok for 2 hours. Klotok is a traditional wooden house boat. After cruising around 2 hours, stop at Tanjung Harapan camp for orangutan and witness the feeding time at 15.00. Back to the boat and cruise slowly explore the quite river by the klotok while observe the wildlife such as long noses monkey, long tail macaque, birds along the riverside. Dinner and Overnight on the boat.
Meals : Dinner
Accommodation : Boat - Klotok

Day 2 PONDOK TANGGUY - CAMP LEAKEY
After breakfast, continue to cruise up the river for Pondok Tanguy camp, witness a feeding time at 09.00am. Then cruise up the tea-colored river again. You will see the the magnificent reflection from the vegetation along the river, and if luck is on our side, we can see fresh-water crocodiles and other wildlife. Upon arrival at Camp Leakey, take a short trekking through tropical rainforest searching for wildlife, birds and other rainforest animals as well as tropical jungle plant. Back to the boat for lunch then witness the feeding time of Orangutan at 14.00 pm. Dinner and overnight on boat.

Day 3 KUMAI PORT - PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT
After breakfast, we will cruise back to Kumai port for about 2 hours then transfer with car to Borneo airport of Pangkalanbun to catch flight for your next destination.

Orangutan Center Tanjung Harapan at Tanjung Puting National Park, Central Kalimantan

Tanjung Harapan Kalimantan

The first guard post in the park that was constructed in the late of 1970's. Tanjung Harapan was the original site of the Sekonyer Village, which was moved across the Sekonyer river. The area surrounding is designated as utilization zone. In this area, several facilities for park management as well as for visitors have been constructing. Tanjung Harapan is also one of alternate orangutan center in Tanjung Puting National Park.

Traveling Alone to Tanjung Puting National Park, Part 1 (GoPro Hero 6 Black)

Penasaran pengen liat orangutan di habitat aslinya, saya ngetrip selama 3 hari 2 malam ke Tanjung Puting National Park di Kalimantan Tengah. Dijemput guide di Bandar Udara Iskandar, Pangkalan Bun dan langsung menuju ke pelabuhan buat naik ke kapal klotok. Menjelang siang, menyusuri Sungai Sekonyer untuk menuju ke Tanjung Puting. Di kapal ini saya bertemu 4 turis lain yang semuanya orang asing, 2 dari Belgia dan 2 dari Perancis.

Selama tidur di kapal klotok ini rasanya ngeri ngeri sedep soalnya udah tau kalo sungainya banyak buayanya ????. 2 malem tidur dikapal disungai yang banyak buayanya (ya walaupun buayanya malu-malu dan penakut sih, tapi tetep aja gimanaa gitu). Di klotok ini juga udah ada yang masakin, jadi ga bakalan kelaparan karena makanan berlimpah, snack banyak dan minuman unlimited! Cuma kalo malem nyamuknya aduhai, makanya kalo malem dipasangin kelambu biar ga digigit nyamuk.

Di Tanjung Puting National Park, saya ke area Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui, dan Camp Leakey. Di video ini berisi aktivitas trip saya di Tanjung Harapan termasuk feeding area nya dan juga trekking malam hari di Pondok Tanggui. Pada saat trekking malam, kami menemukan tarantula, semut besar beracun, dan jungle cat. Katanya sih di area Pondok Tanggui juga ada harimaunya, tapi nemu itu susah banget dan nyaris mustahil.
