Amazing and Beautiful Orvakal Rock Garden in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
Orvakallu is a natural landscape of regal rock formations around a long, meandering body of water. It is located about 25 kilometres from Kurnool, on National Highway 18. It is relatively easy to find. These natural rock formations are perfect for trekking, as visitors can climb up the rocks, which are of multitude shapes and sizes.
Orvakal Rock Garden is a rare silica and quartz rock formation site with beautiful surroundings. The rocks are formed around a natural lake in the middle of the site that enhances the beauty of the place. This is one of the must visit places in the surrounding of Kurnool. The rocks are spread across an area of 50 acres adjacent to Kurnool - Nandyal highway.
On reaching the highest point, visitors are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the water body that has wide open spaces and clear blue skies as its backdrop.
The garden is well developed by AP Tourism with a restaurant at the entrance and cottages spread across the garden. There is a walkway built through the formations which allows the tourists explore the beauty of the site. At the center of the hilltop, there is a metal animal garden with several large animal structures built with iron which is an added attraction. There is enough parking area and a children play area near the restaurant.
Orvakallu is a great place to enjoy a picnic under the shade of the mighty rocks; and it also offers a great photo opportunities for visitors who want to take back souvenirs of their memorable holiday in Andhra Pradesh.

Orvakal Rock Garden is located on Kurnool to Nandyal NH-18 highway , outside the village of Orvakal, about 25 kilometers from Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
September to February is the best season to visit the place when the lake is filled with water that enhances the character of this beautiful place.
HOW TO REACH ORVAKAL ROCK GARDEN:
Daily Bus services are available from Kurnool and Nandyal.
This place is well connected by bus from Kurnool and Nandyal as most of the buses plying between Kurnool and Nandyal stop here.
By Train: Kurnool is the nearest railway station is just 20 kms away – Orvakal Rock Garden.
By Road: 22 kms from Kurnool, 53 kms from Nandyal, 234 kms from Hyderabad, 364 kms from Bangalore.

Orvakal Rock Garden
In December of 2014, I had visited Orvakal Rock Garden in Kurnool (India). It is a 1000 acre park with igneous rock formations between pools of water. It was only an on-the-spot decision during my Mumbai-Andhra Pradesh ride, so didn’t really have much time to spend there. Here is a short clip of my visit.
