PCT Side Trip On the Oregon Coast Trail
A few weeks ago Quick Oats and I traveled down to Fort Stevens State Park to do a section of the Oregon Coast Trail while we waited for snow to melt on the PCT. Here are some of our adventures!
Also sorry uploads have been inconsistent. It takes hours to upload videos and I rarely have good enough WiFi to upload videos while on trail.
Oregon Coastal Trail — Episode #1 Brookings to Humbug
We are a middle aged married couple who had been hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and were tired of all the snow. We decided to give the snow time to melt while we hike the Oregon Coastal Trail. This is the first episode starting at the Oregon/California border and heading North.

Wildflowers Of The Oregon Coast Trail
This video is the finale to my wildflower vlog series, illustrating botanicals from the OCT - Oregon Coast Trail. These are the wildflowers I have seen blooming along the trail, along with some of the ferns and wild berries. If you are looking to identify a flower or plant you saw on the trail, this video might be helpful. I also recommend several websites:

I made this video because the trail and wild spaces like State and National Parks are so important in keeping these wild plants available to reseed themselves and avoid extinction, that I wanted to give something back about what I have found in places not everyone walks, yet many do because...

In this episode we share more of the beauty to be found on the central Oregon coast. We go to one of our favorite restaurants in Yachats, The Drift Inn, explore the Waldport and Yachats beaches, check out Yachats Brewing and get the kayaks out on Alsea Bay. It's our last time at the Coast for a while, so we hope you enjoy the ocean views!

Not everyone knows about this enchanting stretch of the Oregon Coast. And that’s part of its charm.
Here you have plenty of room to explore, whether that means hiking, biking or paddling — along rocky shorelines and long, sandy beaches; bays, rivers and estuaries; coastal mountains and temperate old-growth rainforest. Trails range from wheelchair-accessible to difficult, so every family member can get outdoors. Surrounded by nature, each community has its own distinct character. Discover a variety of amenities in these friendly villages: fishing and crabbing; shops, art galleries and restaurants; campgrounds, cottages and luxury lodges. At Yachats, Waldport and Seal Rock, it’s all up to you.
Sometimes you need to unplug and rejuvenate. That’s easy to do in Yachats, the little coastal town on Oregon’s Central Coast where you might look up from your crab cakes to admire a bald eagle wheeling overhead or a grey whale spouting beyond the surf. With innovative restaurants and shops and the forest and ocean as your playground, it’s a breeze to fill three days with activities — or just gaze at the waves and revel in quiet solitude.ttps://traveloregon.com/places-to-go/regions/waldport-yachats-and-seal-rock/
The artful arch of the Alsea Bay Bridge signals your arrival in Waldport, a coastal community 15 miles south of Newport on the Central Coast. Like the bridge, Waldport spans the mouth of Alsea Bay, a waterway renowned for crabbing and rich with wildlife. With easy access to the ocean, the bay and the vast woodlands of the Siuslaw National Forest, Waldport makes an ideal base for outdoor recreation year-round.

AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: We appreciate all your support. Kim and I don't make a penny from Youtube. In fact, we haven't even made a penny off our Amazon affiliate link as it's brand new to us as we just went over 500 subscribers. Thank you all for that by the way. The only way we can make money with this many subscribers is through our Amazon affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR CHANNEL. By using the links it doesn't cost you a penny extra. Amazon just gives us a very small percentage of their profit for each sale. It's definitely not a way to get rich but every penny helps. Backpacking The Oregon Coast Trail
The Oregon Coastal Trail is a long distance thru hike that starts at Fork Stevens State Park and ends near Brookings, Oregon. There are campgrounds along the trail, or you can camp along the trail 200 feet away from the campground.
The plan was to backpack from Cape Blanco to Cape Sebastian within 5 days
(40 miles) and complete my first small thru-hike, but things didn't go as plan but it was a worthwhile trip regardless. I will link the gear I had used down below.
