Tour of the Glore Psychiatric Museum
I visited the amazing and disturbing Glore Psychiatric Museum on October 9, 2009. Here is a video clip of my visit... I hope you enjoy the tour!
The Glore Psychiatric Museum chronicles the 130-year history of what was once known as the State Lunatic Asylum No. 2. The Museum uses full-sized replicas, interactive displays, audio-visuals, artifacts, and documents to illustrate the history of the treatment of mental illness. The museum is recognized as one of the 50 most unusual Museums in the country. It is also featured in the book 1,000 Places to See Before You Die in the USA and Canada. --

ABANDONED Fairview Psychiatric Center
Fairview Psychiatric Center (aka Fairview Training Center) is an abandoned Psychiatric Center located in Salem, Oregon, United States. It was a state-run facility established in 1907 for the Feeble-Minded. The hospital opened on December 1, 1908 with 39 patients transferred from the Oregon State Hospital for the Insane. It was closed in the year 2000 and has been abandoned for 18 years.
A lot of the buildings have been demolished, but there are still 7 buildings left standing. It is said to be haunted and in this video you can hear faint screaming, but there was nobody else there. Watch the video for yourself and make your own decision.
My Motto:
Never damage or force your way into an abandonment. Never take anything. Leave everything as it was before you arrived. Always be respectful to the abandonment and anyone you may come in contact with while exploring. Take only pictures and video, leave only footprints. This is my story of Fairview Psychiatric Center...
