VLOG | ORIBI GORGE
Hey lovelies ????
My cousins, who I haven’t seen in years, are visiting Africa from the USA. They came to Durban for a week and I thought to show them a different side of KwaZulu-Natal. A side that they hadn’t seen before. So I chose Oribi Gorge Valley (South of Durban) for a day of beautiful views and a little adventure.
This vlog documents the beauties of KZN, South Africa.

There are 14 zip lines in total and the Oribi Gorge zip that you'll see Derick on, is over 300m.
The fastest zip goes up to 100km/h. The total distance for the tour is 4.5km.
Totally worth it!

Lake Eland & Oribi Gorge, South Coast // Visual Vibes
So a few weekends ago, we went on a family outing up the South Coast to Lake Eland Game Reserve in Oribi Gorge. We didn't get to see all it has to offer but if you want to experience the full Oribi Gorge and Lake Eland experience then you must definitely go...hint: there is a zip line ( the longest in Africa) , if you're a thrill seeker.
As you can see from the video there is a river, sunflower field, a suspension bridge, and wildlife. If you're hungry there is also a restaurant where they sell amazing wild berry milkshakes.
Loved this outing so much and I faced my fear of heights...that lookout point was scary though because the wind was moving it and there was a big drop! Lol

Oribi Gorge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
View from near Baboon's Castle, Oribi gorge
Oribi Gorge is situated along the spectacular forest-cloaked ravine of the Mzimkulwana river just west of Port Shepstone which itself is 120 km south of Durban. Oribi Gorge is the eastern gorge of two gorges that cuts through the Oribi Flats (flat sugarcane farmlands), southern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The western gorge was formed by the Mzimkulu river. At the base of the cliffs of both gorges there are rocks over 1000 million years old while the cliffs themselves are formed from sandstone deposited about 365 million years ago. Below the gorges is a large surface mine producing cement. The road through Oribi Gorge was built by Italian prisoners of war.
[edit]Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve
Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve is situated in the Oribi Gorge, which is approximately 27 km long, 4 km wide (widest point) and 400 m deep. In 1950 it was proclaimed a protected state forest.

Oribi Gorge
Oribi Gorge is a canyon in southern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, just west of Port Shepstone, which itself is 120 km south of Durban. Oribi Gorge, cut by the Mzimkulwana river, is the eastern gorge of two gorges that cut through the Oribi Flats (flat sugarcane farmlands) of KwaZulu-Natal. The western gorge was formed by the Mzimkulu river. The gorge is approximately 400 metres (1,300 ft) deep, and almost 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) wide at its widest.
Erosion by these rivers has carved out nearly 30 kilometres (19 mi) of spectacular kloofs and crags, covered with subtropical vegetation. In the gorge, the dense forest on the sandstone slopes is home to various small mammals, while the large leguaans excavate their burrows along the riverbanks.
At the base of the cliffs of both gorges, the basement rocks are part of the Namaqua-Natal Metamorphic Province, which is over 1000 million years old. The cliffs themselves are formed by Msikaba formation sandstones deposited by fluvial environment about 365 million years ago.Downstream from the gorges, a large surface mine producing cement from a limestone deposit. The road through Oribi Gorge was built by Italian prisoners of war.
Oribi Gorge derives its name from the oribi, a small antelope that lives in the gorges.
Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve is a park located along the bottom of the Oribi Gorge at the confluence of the Mzimkulu River and Mximkulwana River, being approximately 27 kilometres (17 mi) long, and 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) wide at its widest point. It was proclaimed a protected state forest in 1950.

KZN South Coast Roadtrip // Oribi Gorge // Port Shepstone// Bantu travels
Hello trusted viewer. I apologise for uploading, deleting then uploading again. It wont happen again.
Anyway we decided to take a shot' left to Port Shepstone on south coast of KZN. It is beautiful, I looove bush escapes so this was perfect for me!
We stayed at the Oribi Gorge nature reserve which is really affordable with great views. There was hiking, saw a bit of springbok and enjoyed some scenic drives.
Let me know how your experience of the South coast was and even suggest a few places that I could visit next.
