Mymensingh Tour

A divisional headquarter of Mymensingh. It is north part of Bangladesh. This place was named after the name of a king (Raja) Man Singh a Navaratnas Great emperor Akbar. Its area is 4,363.48 sq km. This district was established in 1787. Afterwards it was divided into six districts. There are Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Sherpur and Netrokona under this division.

There are 8 municipalities, 12 Upazilas, 146 union Parishads, 84 wards, 206 Mahallas, 2201 Mouzas and 2709 villages. Mymensingha Gitiaka is a great literary resource in Bangla literature of our country.

Tourist spots in Mymensingh are Agricultural University, Bokaynagar Fort, Maharaj Shashikanta house and more. This town is situated on the bank of the Bramhputra River.

1. You need to fly or take a direct bus down to Cox's Bazar, and then take a bus to Teknaf, which is the most southern thana of Bangladesh, beside the Myanmar border.
2. You can also take the rail to Chittagong and catch a bus to Teknaf via Cox’s bazaar. In this way of transport may cost a little less from the first two mode of transportation. But it may take an hour or two longer to reach Teknaf.
3. You also can take a bus from the capital city of Dhaka and it will take 12 to 13 hours to reach the Teknaf Ship terminal.
4. Luxurious Passenger Ships left Teknaf every morning at 9.30 am, and return from St. Martin Island in the same day at 3.00 pm (Services available only from the Month of October to Middle of the April)

St. Martin's Island (Bengali: সেন্ট মার্টিন্স দ্বীপ) is a small island (area only 8 km2) in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. There is a small adjoining island that is separated at high tide, called Chera Dwip. It is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) west of the northwest coast of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River.

The first settlement started 250 years ago by Arabian sailors who named the island 'Zajira'. During British occupation the island was named St. Martin Island. During the First Anglo-Burmese War between the British and Burmese empires in 1824–1826, rival claims to the island were a major factor. The local names of the island are Narical Gingira, also spelled Narikel Jinjira/Jinjera, [1] which means 'Coconut Island' in Bengali, and Daruchini Dwip. It is the only coral island in Bangladesh.

St Martin's is a tropical cliché and the only coral island in Bangladesh, with beaches fringed with coconut palms and laid-back locals. It's a clean and peaceful place with nothing more strenuous to do than soak up the rays — even mosquitoes are a rarity. There's a naval base near the centre of the island, and the USA looked into setting up one of their own a few years back. The island was devastated by a cyclone in 1991 but has fully recovered, and was untouched by the 2004 tsunami.

It is possible to walk around St Martin's in a day since it measures only 8 km², shrinking to about 5 km² during high tide. Most of the island's 7000 inhabitants live primarily from fishing, and between October and April fishermen from neighbouring areas bring their catch to the island's temporary wholesale market. Rice and coconuts are the other staple crops, and algae is collected and dried from the sea rocks and sold for consumption to Myanmar.

Most things are concentrated around the far north of the island, with the centre and south being mostly farmland and makeshift huts. There is no electricity on the island, though the larger hotels run generators in the evenings for a few hours.

November to February is the main tourist season with the best weather, though keep an eye on the forecast, as the occasional cyclone can strike during this time.

Chinese Naval Fleet Starts Friendly Visit to Bangladesh

A Chinese naval fleet arrived in Chittagong, Bangladesh on Tuesday morning, starting its four-day friendly visit to the country, the fifth leg of its oceangoing voyage.

Chinese guided missile destroyer Changchun and missile frigate Jingzhou berthed at the port at 10:00, to the warm welcome of the Bangladeshi side.

The navies of the two countries have profound feelings and frequent exchanges. We have forged a profound friendship. We will exchange visits with Bangladeshi navy, maintain exchanges in professional field and conduct recreational activities, said Shen Hao, commander of the Chinese navy fleet.

Present at the welcome ceremony was a seven-year-old girl, who came specially to meet Sheng Ruifang, associate chief physician of the anesthesia department. Sheng once helped the girl’s mother to give birth under the life-threatening situation. The two were excited to see each other.

Shen Hao and political commissar Xu Ping gave school supplies and panda toy to the girl.

During the visit, guided missile destroyer Changchun and missile frigate Jingzhou will be open to local overseas Chinese and Bangladeshi soldiers.

The navies of the two countries are expected to exchange experience in special operations and helicopter operation, and conduct joint drills at sea.
