The four-strand rope made by George McGuigan at Orwell Corner Historic Village proved to be pretty strong when program coordinator Elizabeth Kyte and youth Harris Green and Michael MacIsaac tested it out on one of the rafters in the barn.
Archaeological Dig at Orwell Corner Historic Village
Highlights from a public archaeology dig at Orwell Corner Historic Village. The dig explored the remains of a 19th century house and was led by Dr. Helen Kristmanson, Director of Aboriginal Affairs and Archaeology for Prince Edward Island.

Rope making at Orwell Corner Historic Village
George McGuigan of Orwell Corner Historic Village demonstrates how rural Islanders made four-strand ropes made out of bailer twine, and also how durable the rope of the day was, during Kids Day at the Corner activities held at the historic site. With Mr McGuigan are Harris Greene, Michael MacIsaac and program coordinator Elizabeth Kyte.

Old-fashioned candle stick making is but one of the many activities which take place at the Orwell Corner Historic Village every Thursday from now to the end of August as part of Kids Day at the Village. The Master's Wife: A Theatrical Celebration had a sold out show at Orwell Corner on August 6. It was the last performance for the summer season and folks came from all around to see it - even though it was pouring rain outside. Everyone had a great evening full of music and laughs.
