The Road to OSA Drake's Bay in Costa Rica
The road to OSA Drake's Bay in Costa Rica holds a lot of trills just like every part of that country. You could either choose the safer boat ride across the river or drive your 4X4 through a dirt road and several water crossings later you arrive at Drake's Bay.
Watch out for the last river crossing and if the forecast does predict heavy rains then you would be better off leaving the car and taking the hanging bridge across.
So here you go and hope you find your aventuraaaa!!!!
BTW, we were in a rented Bego.

Will Hilton Hotels Botanika In Costa Rica Build With Nature In Mind?
Don’t drink the Cool-Aid or should anyone else for that matter. As far as Dolphin propanda goes, let’s ask the thousands of kayakers that photographed various species near the Plantanares river mouth - just this year. Like you and me, some of us have been lucky enough to see whale sharks and humpback whales just a few hundred meters away from the ‘proposed’ Hilton Botanika Residences and marina. Many marine sightings with calves or young. Just for a moment let’s consider something deeper or more important than sportfishing.
For those that don’t know about mangroves, they prevent large storm surges during flooding. Kayak and see the Great Ibis, Great white egrets, roseate spoonbills, kingfishers, tanagers, red lore parrots, turtles, Geoffrey’s howler and the endangered Mono Titi Monkey. There are also several types of boas, caimans, crocodiles and endangered tree frogs found in the mangrove. Across the Golfo Dulce you’ll find a newly discovered endemic species of hammerhead shark. On a good note - Just last week a new species of mammal called a ‘Bush Dog’ was discovered In Costa Rica. I can only assume it will be be placed on endangered species list immediately. This mega marina and Hilton Hotel Curio disaster in the making must be stopped before these species are displaced.
What will be the future of rural tourism? Look at impact the Corcovado Concession has had on Tourism just in the past 2 years. Now you have to be rich to visit Corcovado. Let’s look back and see how all this worked for Guanacaste?
Sinergo Development’s last project they built called ‘Papagayo’ in Guanacaste, where raw sewage floated up on public beaches for 5 years after construction. They closed beach dozens times in 4 years. Sinergo’s Papagayo resort is Costa Rica’s largest environmental disaster, receiving’ negative’, international attention from travel magazines, books and hurting tourism for the entire country!
Pura Vida destroyed. Why? Because of the greed of one family and the mistakes of project engineers. Is this Puerto Jimenez’s future?
Jobs? Local families need income. They want the same opportunity to create abundance and prosperity as we have. In fear of being branded themselves, Many Tico's don't want to work for branded greedy capitalistic developers with resort. The jobs they provide are mostly seasonal minimum wage jobs. How many ‘actual’ sustainable year round jobs will they provide for locals? Can they answer any of the questions? In the Crocodile Bay Vision of Osa’s future, The Osa will be developed like Jaco, Quepos and Los Suenos!
Truth of the matter is - They haven’t sold enough condos to break ground or meet their Hilton franchise annual renewal requirements. In addition the fish populations are as low and sportfishing tourism market. Starkist Tuna family just completed the Golfito Marina to be the 1st stop North of the Panama Canal. Most of Crocodile Bays conservation efforts on the water have been spearheaded by your fishing manager who is mostly financed by a third party and not by Crocodile Bay Resorts.
All Crocodile Bay resort has done is upgrade electrical service to property and hire local video editors to publish misleading images and marketing tactics to lure investors to thinking the location is remote and quiet, when in fact, the Hiltons ‘proposed’ nature residences / condos and swimming pool will be located 100’ away from Costa Rica’s busiest domestic airport. 30% of Hilton condos overlook the airport and our above ground cemetery.
Crocodile Bay owners have announced construction delays 5 times to potential buyers. Seeing as it is already December 2017, I expect they’ll be sending a ‘delay of construction’ letter to potential investors any day now. With almost 60,000 letters mailed to Hilton directors, our petition IS slowing down and curving this development.
With enough opposition, some luck, youtube and a strong belief…the Hilton, just like The Marriott and Hyatt…will sail off too. In the meantime, my money’s on the dolphins, monkeys and frogs and the endangered species we strive to save. I’d like to keep Puerto Jimenez free of large scale developments and marinas.I ask you to consider joining our environmental passion by signing our petition and passing it along through your FB and Social Media. If you do, you’ll join 60,000 supporters on-line that are boycotting Hilton Hotels. Millions of creatures all agree -It’s worth saving!

History and Anthropology: Drugs and Sacred Medicines | Plantas Sagradas en las Américas
Speakers and presentations (This panel took place on February 23, 2018):
Agustín Guzmán - La Wachuma, medicina de los sueños y del autoconocimiento.
Marco Antonio Arce & José Manuel Rodríguez - Consumo de plantas y hongos psicoactivos en las culturas precolombinas de Costa Rica.
José Ignacio Giraldo - El Yoco, planta de conocimiento, protagonista del primer Santuario de Plantas Medicinales en Colombia.
Alí Cortina - Una mirada histórica sobre los usos del peyote y del Bufo alvarius en la Ciudad de México.
The Sacred Plants in the Americas conference was held on February 23, 24, and 25, 2018 in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. The conference had the purpose of building a bridge between indigenous and traditional psychoactive practices, psychedelic science, and drug policy through multidisciplinary and intercultural dialogue. In a context in which drug policy reforms are temporary, we consider it relevant to build spaces for discussion about psychoactive species and their growing multiplicity of uses. Moreover, it also sought to give voice to the indigenous people, who have been knowledgeable about psychoactive plants since ancient times, and they will be providing lectures at the conference.
