Costa Rica Osa Peninsula Corcovado OVERVIEW U Should GO!
#CostaRica #OsaPeninsula #Corcovado
The Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica is one of my favorite places to visit, including the world famous Corcovado National Park. The Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica is where nature goes to see itself in all its amazing beauty. In the Osa (Corovado area) of Costa Rica you have the BEST of both worlds- the wildness of the jungle bordered by the awe of the Pacific Ocean. Everything is down in the Osa Peninsula- 4 species of monkeys, ocelots, margays, pumas and if you're going to see a jaguar, you going to see it at the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Macaws, and about another million species of birds and of course all the other animals that call Costa Rica home. Then of course you have the Pacific Ocean and Golfo Dulce with the spinner dolphins, humpback whales (seasonal) and some of the best deep sea fishing anywhere. The Osa Peninsula is the wild, wild west of Costa Rica. Not necessarily for everyone but if you are an adventurer/hiker, explorer, love all the different types of flora and fauna then the Osa and the Corcovado National Park is for you.
This video- Costa Rica, Osa Peninsula, Corcovado OVERVIEW Who Should Go? is exactly what it says, an overview of the area. Where is Corcovado? How do you get to the Osa Peninsula? Who should visit the Osa Peninsula as well as who shouldn't lol. Also in the video are a few travel tips for the area and our recommendation of a place you can stay 'Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp'. Obviously not the only game in town, but we loved it.

Top 3 Reasons to Visit the Jaguar Rescue Center in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica is the main tourist destination on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. And one of the top things to do in Puerto Viejo is to visit the Jaguar Rescue Center. Even though you will probably encounter a lot of Costa Rican wildlife while visiting the Talamanca region of Limón, the Jaguar Rescue Center is the best place to see sloths, monkeys, and other animals of Costa Rica that have been rescued and cared back to health. You will also learn a lot about these animals and how to help protect them. A great thing to do during your family vacation in Puerto Viejo.

What is the Jaguar Rescue Center?
The Jaguar Rescue Center is a temporary or permanent home for ill, injured and orphaned animals. With a focus on birds, reptiles, amphibians and small primates, the JRC provides veterinary services, round-the-clock care and comfort to animals that would otherwise be unable to survive in the rainforest or the sea of the Caribbean.
Why Jaguar?
The Jaguar is the most hunted endangered animal in the Americas. It’s a symbol of nature that suffers from a great threat of extinction.
In 2007 a baby jaguar was given to Encar and Sandro. Her mother had been murdered because local farmers suspected she had killed two goats. The baby jaguar was dehydrated and very sick. Encar and Sandro did everything they could to save it but in the end, the endangered baby jaguar died. Encar and Sandro decided to name their animal rescue center in honor of her and the Jaguar Rescue Center was born.
The jaguar represents the spirit of the king of the jungle and her memory lives on in each animal they save. The spirit of that original baby jaguar lives on in every animal we rescue and our mission of Help Us Help Them continues in her honor.
The primary goal of the JRC is to rehabilitate animals and reintroduce them back into their native habitats. Monkeys, birds, sloths, snakes and more are brought to the JRC, and treated by professional veterinarians, caregivers and a hard-working team of staff and volunteers. Food is lovingly prepared, medication is administered, and all animals get personal contact with their caregivers. When they are healed and healthy, most animals are reintroduced to their native habitats to live out their lives in the land that is their home.
For some of the friends brought to the JRC, reintroduction isn’t possible due to the nature of their illness or injuries, and these animals find a permanent, loving home at the JRC, cared for by a team of staff and volunteers, living in habitats that mimic their lives outside the JRC.
In addition to the animal-care services, the JRC provides educational services to the residents and visitors of Costa Rica, as well as internship and research opportunities for biologists, veterinarians, and researchers from around the world.

Hiking and wildlife in Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
Located in Osa Peninsula in South Pacific Costa Rica, Corcovado National Park is known as one of the most biodiverse places on earth. A place where jaguars still run wild, where scarlet macaws soar above the treelines, where sloths and coatis share the trees, and where the roar of the howler monkeys permeates through the rainforest. This is Corcovado National Park, the star attraction of the Osa Peninsula and the best place to hike and spot wildlife in Costa Rica.
Big thanks to Corcovado Info Centre ( for taking care of us on an overnight trip inside the park!

And the Jaguar mainly ate mammals with a body weight in excess of 2.5Kg. By comparison, the Ocelot mainly ate the Spiny Rat.)

Tour of the Osa wildlife!
Back in 2007, Jacob and Zach went on a trip for 3 months to volunteer
at the sanctuary. It contained a variety of animals including sloths,
ocelots, 4 species of primates, toucans, owls, and many more animals.
Some were releasable and others were not. This video is a quick 8
minute tour of some of the animals you might see while visiting Costa
Rica! Enjoy!

Paul-ee Scarlet Macaw at Lookout Inn Costa Rica
This is Polly or Paul-ee, cause we think he is a male, started hanging around the Lookout Inn about 14 months ago.. sleeps here in the rafters next to the bar / kitchen and loves attention and the camera.. visits us normally for breakfast ,lunch and then happy hour.. drinks from the kitchen sink and plays on the floor like a dog-- he/she comes and goes and acts like a lil wild 2 year old kid with wings -- still hangs out with other macaws in the wild almond trees, but prefers humans and he sits on the chairs with us on the beach too-- the guests love it-- me i have to clean up bird poop all day---
