An exception has been made for trains in Japan: care has been taken to note individual trainset numbers (which will be included in every video description), as different trainsets of a same model may be fitted with various different equipment. For trains outside Japan, it is our policy not to track individual trainsets as equipment is almost always standardised across the same models.
The first video we are featuring in this series is the latest batch of Osaka Subway 30000 Series (大阪市交通局30000系電車) using Hitachi SiC-VVVF and dual-screen LCD information system, operating on the Midōsuji Line (御堂筋線). This particular trainset 31606F was introduced this year, though there are a few earlier units. This is a useful comparison against STARiS 2.0 used by SMRT Trains which has come under criticism. The Osaka Subway counterpart uses multi-language, blended-in advertising (income opportunity), station information, destination information, and a full-display map across both screens.
Osaka Municipal Subway will soon be renamed as Osaka Metro (大阪メトロ/オオサカメトロ) in April 2018.

The Sound of Osaka
I made this video two years ago when I had an internship program in Osaka.
I wanted to explore the ambience of daily life in Osaka through the aspects of sound. From the busy subway when commuting to festive mood on holiday, crowd in the shopping district, and so on.
All cities offer a dialogue to us. But do we able to hear what the city said?
This is the sound I heard, the dialogue I had, and this is the sound of Osaka.

Osaka (大阪市 Ōsaka-shi) is a designated city in the Kansai region of Japan. It is the capital city of Osaka Prefecture and the largest component of the Keihanshin Metropolitan Area, the second largest metropolitan area in Japan and among the largest in the world with over 19 million inhabitants. Situated at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay, Osaka is the second largest city in Japan by daytime population after Tokyo's 23 wards and the third largest city by nighttime population after Tokyo's 23 wards and Yokohama, serving as a major economic hub for the country.

Osaka Station (大阪駅 Ōsaka-eki) is a major railway station in the Umeda district of Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan, operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West). It forms the city's main rail terminal in the north.
Although it is officially served by only the JR Kobe/Kyoto Lines (Tōkaidō Main Line) and the Osaka Loop Line, Osaka is the starting point of JR Takarazuka Line service, and serves as the terminal for trains bound for the San'in region via JR Takarazuka Line and the Hokuriku region via JR Kyoto Line, while offering connections to trains bound for Nara, Wakayama and Kansai International Airport via the Osaka Loop Line.
Umeda Station (Hankyu, Hanshin, and Osaka Metro Midosuji Line), Nishi-Umeda Station (Subway Yotsubashi Line) and Higashi-Umeda Station (Subway Tanimachi Line) are directly connected to Osaka Station, and Kitashinchi Station on the JR Tōzai Line is within walking distance.
Osaka Station and Umeda Station, effectively part of the same complex, together constitute the busiest station in Western Japan, serving 2,343,727 passengers daily in 2005, and the fourth-busiest railway station in the world.
Osaka Station also houses a large terminal for overnight bus services to other cities in Japan, and until March 2013 also had a nearby freight terminal complex, Umeda Freight Terminal, owned by JR Freight.
