A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site since 2005, the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove is located within the last remaining virgin forests of Yorubaland. It is the home of Osun, the Yoruba goddess of fertility. The site consists of forty shrines, two palaces and many sculptures and other works of art that pay homage to the traditional Yoruba religion.

Nigeria vlog part 2- Osun osogbo sacred grove, meeting grandma after 9 years
Hey my loves. As promised, here is part 2 of our Nigeria vlog. In this vlog you will see us on a tour around the famous Osun Osogbo sacred grove which is one of the few preserved ancient yoruba settlement. The grove, in the primary high forest just outside the city of Osogbo in southwest Nigeria, contains over 40 shrines and is visited by Osun worshipers, traditional healers who gather the medicinal plants that grow there, and tourists from all over the world.
It was really amazing to see all this fantastic sculptures that represents different gods in the yorubaland.
After that, we took off to Ife which is located in Osun state. That is where my grandma resides. We haven't seen her for over 9 years and it was just pure hapiness meeting her again.

Osogbo-Sacred Groove of Witches and Wizards
The Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove is located on the outskirts of Osogbo, a city of some 2 million people in south-western Nigeria. It is one of the last remaining remnants of tropical high forest in southern Nigeria, and perhaps the last example of the once widespread practice amongst the Yoruba people of maintaining an area of intact forest for ritual purposes close to every settlement.
THE SACRED GROVE OSOGBO
The Sacred Grove of Osogbo was reestablished by Susanne Wenger to protect nature from man made disasters. The Grove measures about 75 acres of land, and is home to many animals (especially monkeys), many trees, many artistic sculptures, and impressions of gods and hunters. The river Osun flows through the Sacred Grove, and our tour guide forbade us to refer to it as water, but rather as Agbo (meaning medicine).

Oshun (known as Ochún or Oxúm in Latin America) also spelled Ọṣun, is an orisha, a spirit or deity that reflects one of the manifestations of God in the Ifá and Yoruba religions. She is one of the most popular and venerated orishas.
Oshun is a Nigerian Yoruba deity of the river and fresh water, luxury and pleasure, sexuality and fertility, and beauty and love. She is connected to destiny and divination.
She is the patron saint of the Osun River in Nigeria, which bears her name. Oshun is honored at the Osun-Osogbo Festival a two-week-long annual festival, usually in August, at the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove on the banks of the Osun River, Nigeria.
Oshun is syncretized with Our Lady of Charity, patron saint of Cuba, and Our Lady of Aparecida, the patron saint of Brazil. In Trinidad she is associated with St. Philomena and the Hindu deity Ganga Mai or Mother Ganges.
