Cromwell Golf Club, Central Otago, New Zealand
Central Otago is a hot-spot for golfers and one course that carries all the region's charms in Cromwell Golf Club. Recently re-designed by former European Tour pro and local lad Greg Turner, Cromwell got the once-over by fellow professionals Peter O'Malley, Ryan Fox and Nick Gillespie.
And it's not just the links-style layout that his unique, but the way in which this charming country club is run.
Your Guide to Central Otago - New Zealand
New Zealand's most inland region is a landscape of vast, open terrain and alpine scenery. The ambience of the area is defined by many things: the exciting change in seasons; the tranquillity that comes with having only 11,000 inhabitants; a rich, gold mining heritage; and contemporary, award-winning wines.
To unwind and relax in Central Otago is not hard. You could cycle a section of the Otago Central Rail Trail; tour a vineyard; play a round of golf; or visit an historic, gold mining town and learn about Otago's equally-prosperous past.

Docking in PORT CHALMERS (DUNEDIN) l New Zealand Cruise Vlog l Ep. 8
It's a new day which means we are in Port Chalmers (Dunedin). As you can see in this video, this port is a mix of industrial with some things within walking distance. However, there is really nothing to do in Port Chalmers which you'll see in a vlog or two. If you are not planning on doing a shore excursion here, consider taking a shuttle bus to Dunedin that your cruise line will most likely offer for around $15-$20 USD. Dunedin has more of a downtown area with lots of shops and cafes.
The tour I did today is called, NATURE’S WONDERS WILDLIFE SAFARI. I booked it through Norwegian Cruise Line though most cruise lines offer this tour. Here is the tour description from NCL's website:
“A scenic drive takes you past the charming towns of Sawyer's Bay, Roseneath and St. Leonard's, which all rest along the shores of beautiful Otago Harbor. Your drive then continues along the craggy coastline to Natures Wonders, located just beyond Taiaroa Head.
Arriving at the Center's Reception area, you'll board an 8-wheel drive vehicle (Argo), built specifically to take you places that are normally inaccessible, or a mini coach, to start your tour of the farm. You will swap vehicles half way through the tour.
The Otago Peninsula headland is arguably the most precious wildlife habitat in New Zealand and the farm owned by the Reid family is right on the forefront of this headland. Here, amidst truly spectacular scenery, the world's rarest penguins, the yellow-eyed Hoiho, the little blue penguins, the New Zealand fur seals, and the Spotted Shags all live in harmony.
Stop by the mythical Maui's Footprint location which offers breathtaking panoramic views over the Otago Peninsula. Descending from a height of 620 feet above sea level, you’ll stop at a breeding colony of Cormorants, also Spotted Shag, found nestled on a rugged cliff face that rises directly above the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean.
You’ll find a breeding colony of New Zealand Fur seals. It's a definite treat to watch them in their natural habitat, basking on the rocks and swimming in the pools. A beachfront ride will then bring you to Penguin Beach, where you'll be able to view little blue penguins in their nests, and if you are lucky, perhaps spot some very rare and shy yellow-eyed penguins.
Your route also ascends from the beach to the highest point on the farm. At 659 feet above sea level, this spot affords an absolutely amazing 360-degree view of this awesome peninsula and its remarkable natural setting.
Back in Dunedin, you’ll have a brief tour of some of the city's highlights before returning to the pier.”
As always, make sure to watch in HD for the best video quality! Hope you enjoy! :)

Port Chalmers Golf Club, New Zealand
Port Chalmers near Dunedin can lay claim to being the trickiest nine-holer in New Zealand. A breeding ground to national champions Mahal Pearce and Ben Gallie; neither could win the junior champs here. In fact, Port Chalmers 18-hole course record is a measly three-under 67.
Laura visited Port Chalmers with an ANZ Community Grant as the club spruced up for their 100th birthday bash.
Tourists put pressure on Central Otago golf courses
Tourists are taking over from locals at Lakes District and Central Otago golf clubs.
Golf Otago executive officer Doug Harradine says golf clubs are struggling to maintain their traditional membership due to a shift towards casual golfing.
