The Otsuka Museum of Art, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, in Shikoku, is a truly unique art museum with a huge collection of ceramic-board reproductions of world master-paintings. Different from other museums, we can touch these artworks, enjoy them very closely under bright lights, take photos and videos freely, and talk about the art with your friends in a relaxed atmosphere. And the most interesting thing is that we can see artworks from the same artists chronologically, or many masterpieces from different artists with the same theme.
My channel, Japan Silhouette, features beautiful scenery, traditional culture, Origami arrangement, and the warm heart of the Japanese people.

Naruto, part of Tokushima Prefecture, is the northeastern most city on Shikoku Island. The city is known for its swirling whirlpools. You can see them in the Strait of Naruto underneath the Onaruto Bridge which connects Tokushima to Awaji Island.
Naruto is also the starting point of the Shikoku Pilgrimage or Henro. which is a religious pilgrimage where one goes around visiting the 88 holy temples on Shikoku.
Otsuka Museum of Art
It was built in Naruto Park on the occasion of the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group's 75th anniversary. It is the largest museum in Japan. Inside, there are more than 1,000 replicas of priceless masterpieces of Western art selected by a committee of 6, from ancient murals to modern paintings, and collection from more than 190 art museums in 25 countries worldwide. These masterpieces are reproduced to their original size using special techniques
Visitors will able to appreciate the true artistic value of the original works, and experience art museums of the world while being in Japan.
Access Information
The Otsuka Museum of Art stands in Naruto Park, several kilometers outside central Naruto.
Via Bus:
Buses between Naruto Station and Naruto Park make a stop in front of the museum along the way. The one way journey from Naruto Station takes about 15 minutes with a cost 280 yen. There is one departure per hour. The museum is also about a ten minute walk from the Naruto Koen bus stop.
Hours: 9:30 to 17:00 (last entry at 16:00)
Closed: Mondays (or following Tuesday if Monday is a national holidays)

No closures in August
Admission: 3240 yen (3100 yen if purchased at Lawson convenience stores)

Otsuka Museum of Art—the museum of masterpieces on porcelain panels located in Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture.
Masterpieces on porcelain panels are reproductions of the original paintings on porcelain panels, maintaining their original colors and sizes. Compared with paper, canvases and earthen walls, the color applied on porcelain does not deteriorate over time. They are also reproduced in their original sizes. These allows visitors to enjoy the powerful and realistic displays as if they were in front of the original paintings.

Apparently museums of fake art are a thing?! The view from the museum was really nice, but we honestly spent most of the day sitting and talking. Dinner was good tho!!

Naruto is one of Tokushima’s tourist attractions. There is an art museum that has a rare exhibition in the world. The museum is called “Otsuka Museum of Art” and is famous for its high level of customer satisfaction.
What does it mean that there are many art museums in Japan, but the Otsuka Museum of Art exhibits unique exhibits not only in Japan but also worldwide? The mystery becomes clear from the keyword “Toban” (ceramic plate).
A ceramic plate is a plate-shaped pottery. All works at the Otsuka Museum of Art are displayed in full-scale form called art ceramics, baked on ceramics.

コピーと思っていきましたが セラミックだから現物とはまるで違うし。これだったら持ち主も感謝するんじゃないかなと考えが180度変わりました。さすが大塚と思いました。

Naruto Park is a part of the greater Setonaikai National Park where you can view Ōnaruto Bridge soaring up in front of you. Also, there are other attractions including an observatory from which you can get a grand view of Naruto Strait and the boarding area to get onto excursion boats to get a close look at the Naruto whirlpools which have been considered to be one of the world’s major three tides.

Japan's Biggest Dance Party: Awaodori Experience ★ ONLY in JAPAN
The world is full of amazing street parties, music festivals and carnivals! In Japan, there's this – the AWA ODORI. It's held annually in Tokushima and it's historically -- a big drunken dance party in the streets! That's right, Samurai were even banned from joining in 1671 because they were continually disgracing themselves. (It was for their own protection.) Tokushima is known for its love of dance and drinking, the jolliest place in Japan!
And this time, that's where John is -- TOKUSHIMA!
In this episode, we'll get a glimpse at this amazing street party and a few other attractions in the area.

About the AWAODORI:
It takes place from August 12 to 15 every year.
The parade and dancing starts at 6pm to 8pm.
After that, the people take it to the streets where impromptu dancing takes place all over. There are plenty of street food stands and izakaya in the area to keep you full and happy.

Anyone can join and dance!
Get there around 6:30pm for the start where they will teach you how to do the dance and a few chants.
