2019 Mexico Trip - Tulum & Playa del Carmen (Days 1 &2)
First two days of the 2019 trip to Mexico. Day 1 was spent traveling from home and checking into our AirBnB in Tulum. Day 2 we went to Gran Cenote and the Muyil archaeological site. This was one of the hottest days of the trip, so we didn't spend much time out and about, instead heading back a little early to cool off in the pool.

This was definitely one of my favourite days in Mexico! The cenote was absolutely amazing and the vegan food was great (especially the ice cream!)

What does living in Mexico offer Americans and Canadians? Here as a very short list of some of Mexico's finest points, as seen in the video:
Beautiful Nature: Mexico includes everything from deserts, to pine forests, to mountains, to jungles to beach. This nature is easily accessible in many parts of Mexico for enjoyment, either passing through to look, or through exciting sports.
Amazing Wildlife: A part of this nature the very wide variety of wildlife. The Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve near Tulum, for example, is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. Whether you want to see some deer, tajones (small, racoon-like creatures), live, wild macaws, iguanas or anything much more exotic, you will find it in Mexico, and you will have the chance to see it, if you like.
Rich Traditions: Mexico's traditions trace their roots to the discovery and conquest by the Spaniards, and even further back to the many pre-hispanic cultures. The rich blend of the two has brought many traditions, such as handicrafts, paintings, decorations, blankets and clothing down through the ages, passed from one generation to the next.
Historic Architecture: This same blend of cultures gave rise to an architectural tradition which is a visible part of day to day life, giving a charming atmosphere to Mexico's colonial cities. For those who choose to live on the beachfront, colonial cities are never far away, and make for excellent weekend excursions.
And how can I have access to all of this? Make Mexico your new home. Investigate the possibility of owning Mexico Real Estate. Mexico offers the best of beachfront properties, on wide, soft, white beaches which have become famous worldwide for a very good reason. Americans and Canadians living in Mexico also enjoy the best of services, from malls and stores to roads and health care.

Mérida | Mexico's Most Underrated City
Mérida is a photographer’s and filmmaker’s paradise. This lesser known city is actually the capital of the Yucatán, and it’s known for its brightly painted houses, cenotes, and horse drawn carriages.
While we were here, we went to the biggest, craziest market we’ve ever been to, stayed in a beautiful airbnb, and danced (and drank) at the local La Negrita cantina which was established in 1917. Check out the primary and pastel flavored life of Mérida on this episode of #dontbelikecalvin

Ride Day 21: Mexico City to Veracruz, Mexico
Full Post: My trip to Veracruz, Mexico was just going to be over 4 hours and 249 miles (400 kilometers), but again I took my time and had a number of stops along the way. The ride took me up to 3,500 metres (just shy of 10,000 feet) and at one stage I was riding through so much deep fog in the highlands.
The ride was one of the more fun ones I had the pleasure of experiencing for a while. I love going up through mountains and then down into valleys and the scenery was spectacular. You always get subtle reminders of the fact that you are not in an advanced country and this one was not so subtle, workers perched high on cliff faces by a trailer secured by chains and ropes, it was utterly crazy, so obviously, workers safety is not a premium here!
This trip took me through San Martín Texmelucan de Labastida, Puebla, Nogales, Córdoba, El Moralito, Jamapa and onto my final destination in Veracruz. The weather was really nice, cooling as I went into the highlands but nice and warm as I came back down to sea level. The city is an old port but is quickly turning into a pretty big tourist destination.
I would only spend one night in the city, so I wanted to get there early and get out and about and see some of the city sights such as the Municipal Palace, Fort San Juan de Ulúa and The Carranza Lighthouse. I took a ride along the Malecon and had a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants along this strip.
Veracruz
Veracruz, also known as Heroica Veracruz, is a Mexican port city on the Gulf of Mexico coast in the state of Veracruz. It's one of the country’s oldest and largest ports, founded in the 16th century by Spanish settlers. On an island overlooking the harbor are San Juan de Ulúa, a colonial fortress and former prison complex that's now a history museum.
