The Tablelands, Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland and Labrador
There are very few places where you can set foot on the earth's mantle. But, here at the Tablelands in Gros Morne National Park, you can do just that. You can take a guided tour with Gros Morne Adventures -- in partnership with Parks Canada -- to hear a geological story half a billion years in the making. Or, explore it for yourself and get lost in awe at this colourful and unique landscape.
2 Newfoundland National Parks! - Travelling in an RV Across Canada
Today we finish visiting Gros Morne National Park, before heading off to Terra Nova National park, in Newfoundland Canada. Busy day in the life while travelling in an RV but who can complain out here!
G'day folks! Today we wrap up in Gros Morne by walking the Tablelands, which is the Earth's mantle exposed through the Earth's crust. The hike/walk was an easy one and we'll worth seeing in the Gros Morne National Park area, only a short drive from our previous RV vlog hiking spot and yet so different. The mantle is only exposed in a few locations in the earth I believe making this a unique Newfoundland rarity. Super cool.
Getting to the park we had to leave our beautiful free campsite / Boondocking site for the night outside of that cemetery in Trout River. That town was ridiculously stunning to gaze upon from our RV dinette, truly an amazing area and yet so unpopulated. It was also very Newfoundlandish with heavy accented folk and plenty of quadding to be had. It's the real deal in that town and right near the Tablelands area for a visit.
After finishing up at Gros Morne it was time to get the RV back on the road and continue the journey East. We spent a couple of nights at Walmarts along the interior of the province, to arrive at our next, and farthest East national park in Canada, Terra Nova!
We learned that Terra Nova national park is made up of bog lands down in the valley with a unique dense miss specific to bogs. We spent a night camping there to enjoy a night of RV hook ups and be at a campground again for once too and it was lovely. The next morning after checking out we also found that awesome viewpoint.
Anyways, thanks for checking out today's adventure of travelling in an RV. Next RV vlog will he out Wednesday so have a great weekend!

CANADA TREK: LONG RANGE TRAVERSE, NEWFOUNDLAND
Trekking through Canada's Newfoundland, in the Gros Morne National Park, was one of the biggest challenges of my life - I pushed my body and mind to the limit, hiking for four days up gorges and through rugged terrain, and camping out in the wilderness each night. It was also one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I came out of it a new (read: stronger) woman. Come along for the ride to see all the highlights and the insanely picturesque scenery. And stay tuned for my next fortnightly adventure!

Western Brook Pond Fjord, Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland and Labrador
One of the most difficult decisions you'll have when you reach Western Brook Pond is how you wish to experience it. Your options begin with a 40-minute walk to the dock, where you can step on board a tour boat for a two-hour trip through the fjord with BonTours. Or, for the more advanced adventurer, you take a day hike up the eastern edge of the gulch for a once-in-a-lifetime photo op. One thing is for certain, once you've experienced Western Brook Pond, you won't soon forget it.
GGC - 26 - Tablelands Trail in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland
Part 22 of our road trip across Northern Quebec and Eastern Canada. We drove through Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland and Labrador, and went for a hike on the Tablelands Trail. The Tablelands is an area of desert like rocky hills which were formed several hundred million years ago when plate tectonics forced the earth's mantle up through the crust. An educational experience with gorgeous views.

Hiking the Long Range Traverse (LRT), Gros Morne, Newfoundland 2016
We began our unmarked 5-day trek across The Long Range Traverse trail in Newfoundland, Gros Morne National Park.
This was one of the hardest yet most rewarding adventures we've ever been on to date. The trail pushes new limits, defines new strengths (and weaknesses!). When you actually have no choice but to keep on going, you define the undefinable. You push harder than you've ever pushed before simply because you have no other choice. It's either keep on keeping on, or calling a helicopter to your rescue. There is no civilization for miles and miles around. It is you vs. the elements!
If you're thinking about hiking this trail- this video sums up all the highs you'll go through!

Beside some hiking and a boat tour on the Western Brook Pond at the Gros Morne National Park I went on a whale and iceberg expedition at Battle Harbour, visited vikings in L'anse aux Meadows and went kayaking in Steady Brook.

The Tablelands, Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland & Labrador (162)
This hiking trail was fun and easy. The audio tour app made it very interactive. We were able to download the app at the discovery center and we kept our location on to enable the app during our hike. Although it was windy, the hike was not at all challenging. It was an easy 4 km in and out. I definitely recommend it if you will be in the area.
How many chances will you get to walk on the earth's mantle rock?
They also have free guided tours on certain mornings. Please check with the Discovery center for the current schedule:
