Monster Sharks of South Carolina - Outcast Sport Fishing - Hilton Head Island Shark Fishing
A compilation of some of the larger sharks my customers and I have battled in the last 10 years. All sharks were caught off Hilton Head on 4 hour charters from our nearshore waters, and some just a couple hundred yards from the beach.
All sharks in this video were released, except two; one won the Edisto Shark Tourny and the other was a state record, which turned out to be the largest Blacktip ever caught on the East coast. These clips and pictures really don't give the sharks size any justice but I hope you can get some idea how truly awesome they are.
The species in this video are the Bull, Tiger, Lemon, Nurse, Blacktip and Hammerhead. Most of the Tigers were massive, a few weighing well over 1,000 pounds and most were over the 12 to 13 foot range. Some of the Tiger sharks you see are upside down and swimming very slow. These Tigers enter a hypnotic lethargic state when turned over, they aren't stressed or dead. As soon as they turn back over they take off like a freight train.
The Tiger shark in the picture at 0.55 was one of the larger ones I've ever seen. It was so massive it looked like a great white. The picture gives it NO justice. The Tiger shark in the video clip at 2:02 was ridiculous, nearly 3/4's the length of my boat, my charter battled this one for nearly 4 hours and still had plenty of strength. These monsters show up in May and stay through October. A half day charter is all thats needed .

World Record Tripletail! - Off The Hook Charters - Hilton Head Island Fishing
What a incredible day!
On the way back in from fishing a few miles off of Hilton Head I spotted this huge tripletail swimming underneath a dead horse shoe crab and pulled out my fly rod that was rigged with 20 pound class tippet and casted a red & white lefty's deceiver to what I knew could possibly be a world record fish. The fish took the fly and the fight was on for a awesome 10 minute battle! After netting the fish it weighed in right at 17 pounds which beat the current world record by 6 ounces that was caught in 1995 in Costa Rica.

Catching an Atlantic Sharpnose Shark 20 Miles Offshore Charleston, SC
Caught my first of three sharks I had caught on that day. Measured 37, 11 pounds and was actually the smallest of the three I caught! We fished in 40 feet of water about 20 miles offshore and caught the sharks as well as plenty of Black Sea Bass, a Red Snapper, a Vermillion Snapper, and a large Amberjack! The charter we went on was a 9 hour trip on the 59' boat called Risky Business. I would highly recommend this charter to anyone looking to do a fishing charter in the Charleston area! All the sharks we caught were immediately unhooked and returned to the water unharmed to preserve the species.

Fishing On Parris Island South Carolina
The crew and i head out to Parris Island to do some salt water fishing!
What is Parris Island you ask?
Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (often abbreviated as MCRD PI) is an 8,095 acres (32.76 km2) military installation located within Port Royal, South Carolina, approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Beaufort, the community that is typically associated with the installation. MCRD Parris Island is used for the training of enlisted Marines. Male recruits living east of the Mississippi River and female recruits from all over the United States report here to receive their initial training. Male recruits living west of the Mississippi River receive their training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, but may train at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island by special request.
A French Huguenot expedition, led by Jean Ribault in 1562, was the first European group to attempt to colonize Parris Island. Earlier Spanish expeditions had sighted the area, and named it Punta de Santa Elena, which now remains one of the oldest continuously used European place names in the United States. The French expedition built an outpost named Charlesfort, and Ribault left a small garrison as he returned to France for colonists and supplies. After a long absence, due to Ribault's delay from wars in Europe, Charlesfort was abandoned after the garrison mutinied, built a ship on the island, and sailed back to France in April 1563. In 1566 the Spanish, led by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés founded a settlement named Santa Elena which became the capital of La Florida for the next decade. Spain finally abandoned Santa Elena in 1587. England took control of the region by the 17th century, and Parris Island became home to British plantations after being purchased by Colonel Alexander Parris, treasurer of the South Carolina colony, in 1715. From the 1720s to the Civil War, the island was divided into a number of plantations, initially growing indigo, then later cotton. During and after the Civil War, the island became home to freed slaves, and was a site of freedmen schools taught by abolitionists such as Frances Gage and Clara Barton.
Union forces captured Port Royal Sound in 1861, and Parris Island became a coaling station for the Navy. This function was taken up again after the war, thanks in large part to the former slave turned Congressman Robert Smalls, who fought for the creation of a new federal military installation on the island.
Marines were first stationed on Parris Island in 1891, in the form of a small security detachment headed by First Sergeant Richard Donovan. His unit was attached to the Naval Station, Port Royal, the forerunner of Parris Island. Donovan's unit was highly commended for preserving life and property during hurricanes and tidal waves that swept over the island in 1891 and 1893.
Military buildings and homes constructed between 1891 and World War I form the nucleus of the Parris Island Historic District. At the district center are the commanding general's home, a 19th-century wooden dry dock and a start of the 20th century gazebo—all of which are on the National Register of Historic Places.[3]
On November 1, 1915, Parris Island was officially designated a Marine Corps Recruit Depot and training was continued from then on.
Hilton Head Fishing 2015
The clouds lifted for a little bit and we got a chance to get out on the boat and get after some South Carolina back water red fishing. My wife caught a 21 inch eater and my brother caught a couple of shorts that had to go back for another day. I unfortunately did not hook up and had to relegate myself to being the videographer, but was compensated with a tasty dinner that night thanks to my wife. The song is my take on Stormy Monday, which was appropriate for the weather we encountered on our trip.
