Some Irish Information and History while Hiking in Killarney National Park
Marine Steve and I began a day hike in Killarney National Park with Linda Woods from Ireland Walk, Hike Bike with South West Walks Ireland. Killarney National Park is around 2 kilometers/1.2 miles outside of Killarney, entrance is free, and a few well marked trails begin near Muckross House; all are well marked and the most popular trail begins at Torc Waterfall.
The pretty waterfall is formed by a river know as The Devil's Punch Bowl in the mountains behind. After admiring, Linda led us up a trail, across the face of the mountain and back down a steep path formed by rock steps, exactly the kind of trail I fear and detest. We managed to get down only by using a Vulcan Death Grip on the rope along the trail while cold sweat from fear trickled down backs. Thanks, Linda...
I'll let you watch the video to hear Linda tell the story behind the Devil's Punch Bowl and other Irish lore...

Ireland BikeFest Killarney 2019
We just can’t wait to get on the road again for Ireland BikeFest 2019 which rumbles into Killarney across the Irish June Bank Holiday weekend.
Now in its thirteenth year Ireland BikeFest is an action-packed, three-day festival that attracts thousands of motorcycle owners and enthusiasts from all over the world to the Kingdom. The fantastic scenery, touring routes, hospitality and free live entertainment make it one of the must attend festivals of the year.
Highlights for 2019 include daily ride outs along the Southwest section of the the Wild Atlantic Way - marshalled by Celtic Thunder Chapter Ireland, Gaelic Chapter Ireland and Belfast Chapter, Northern Ireland, free Harley-Davidson® demo rides, Waterford and Dublin Harley-Davidson® Dealers, H.O.G.® Hospitality & Info, Jumpstart, Garage Party, Riding 101, Novelty Dog Show, the Custom Bike Show, Parade and lots of free live indoor and outdoor entertainment day and night.
This year’s line-up of entertainment is epic and with free entry to all Ireland BikeFest gigs there’s simply no excuse not to go! Three days, three stages and tons of free live music include the Outdoor Stage located in the heart of the Bike Village, the favourite bikers’ haunt in The Harley Bar and the Main Stage in the INEC where you can rock on late into the night. This year’s headline acts includes Qween, The Harleys, Eurosmith, Live Lizzy and festival legends Hells Bells.
Located on the grounds of the INEC Killarney, one mile from Killarney town centre, the Bike Village is the main hub of activity throughout the weekend, featuring retail stands and traders, merchandise, motorcycle rentals, family zone and the Harley-Davidson® Experiential area. The Village offers plenty of places to eat, grab a drink at the popular Harley Bar, or simply sit and listen to the live bands and DJ’s perform over the course of the weekend.
And if you are not a biker don’t worry! Ireland BikeFest Killarney also welcomes visitors, tourists and families who just want to experience the Bike Village, have fun and enjoy the free live entertainment. You do not even have to own a bike; you can just bask in the glory of some slick, well-built machines and enjoy the unique party and festival atmosphere of Ireland BikeFest. You may even win your own motorcycle in the Win a Harley-Davidson® Raffle in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland.
