Flying over Owler Tor and around Surprise View
A short film made around Owler Tor, and the rocks near Surprise View in the Peak District.
I went out in the morning on my own, made coffees and lunch on my little stove, and filmed the area with my drone. Hope you like it!

Peak District | 4k Cinematic Drone Footage | Mam Tor & Winnats Pass
4K drone footage of Mam Tor, Winnats Pass & the surrounding valleys.
I headed up to the peak district over the Easter weekend armed with a tent and a drone. After a freezing cold night I captured these shots of the sun rising over Mam Tor and Winnats Pass at about 6am.
Shot on DJI Mavic Pro.

Higger Tor time lapse / drone footage
Busy weekend! decided to go out tonight and fly the drone as i had not been out with it for ages. but while i flew the drone i figured i would setup a time lapse as well so i setup my Ooznest / #ustepper time lapse rail and mounted my TurnsPro - Time Lapse Camera Mount to give me a two axis time lapse and this is the result. ill put a combined drone and time lapse version on YouTube shortly and update with a link to the video.
Surprise View Introduction
This describes how you can access Surprise View (Peak District, UK) and explore the night sky from this site.
Peak District National Park: Mother Cap
I visit an area outside Hathersage in the Peak District and climb up and around Mother Cap, a fairly prominent rock formation.
Carl Wark & Higger Tor Final edit
A short video of a walk in the Peak District, Derbyshire UK, over Higger Tor and Carl Wark, looking at the ancient fortifications of the hill fort on Carl Wark.
Surprise View & Higger Tor
I wasn't going to upload this, but then i figured we all have our off days right? On just one of those days, i finished work and went straight out to clear my head. Playing around on rocks and taking in the views did me the world of good. Sue
Surprise view, #Droneseekers.
Surprise View is a spectacular view point above Hathersage and is known for being one of the best viewpoints in the Peak District and also for being a great spot to sit and watch the sunset.
Other than being a great place to stop and soak up a wonderful view, you can also walk to a few places from that start point. For example, close by to the car park, if you head uphill in a northerly direction towards the back on the car park you can walk to the curiously shaped Mother Cap stone and some great views.
Also closeby is the famous gritstone edge, famous amongst climbers, Stanage Edge. A certainly Keira Kneightly was famously snapped here standing, windswept on the edge, longing for her beloved Mr Darcy in the film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
Alternatively, you can take the path out of the left end of the car park follow this to the right. After approximately five hundred metres you can start to head for another prominent selection of rocks called Over Owler Tor, which is also a very photogenic part of the Peak District.
After you witness the sunset, Surprise View is also one of the official ‘Dark Skies’ stargazing spots, so if it’s a clear night you could enjoy the wonderfully bright stars in the Peak District dark skies.

Rear Camera - Bends Between Baslow and Bakewell, Peak District
We are on the A619 travelling from Baslow towards Bakewell in the Peak District. The rider behind is on an advanced one day day motorcycle course and has just done his first assessment ride in front. After a debrief to discuss his ride, I did a demo ride in front whilst filming him following me.
Issues raised on debrief, (taking into account that he had done no advanced training before, had his present bike for 5 days after a 12 year lay off) were prioritised as:
Not looking far enough ahead
Trying to apex every bend, even though his had not got his view
Variation in speed when assessing bends.
I am trying to demonstrate:
Planning one bend onto the next
Do not dwell to much on the bend you are in
Right approach speed
Right gear for bend and speed
Constant throttle around the curve.
