Over The Hill Orchards - A Saskcess Story
We are Dean and Sylvia Kreutzer. We have always been fruit lovers; Dean's earliest memories was of picking saskatoons. Sylvia remembers wading through the river to get to the wild blueberry patch up north. But honestly, isn't that about all the tree fruit we think we can grow here in Saskatchewan?
It seems like a lifetime since we planted our first cherry tree; impatience being second only to mother nature in the trials we have faced. Throughout that exciting and challenging time, we were always innovating with new fruits being grown, new products being developed, and tours of the orchards being created. It is very gratifying to be able to offer our customers products created with so much passion and common sense principles behind them such as using Certified Organic fruit, low sugar recipes, and even Gluten Free alternatives. Dining with the Stars Banbury House with Sheila Deck
An appreicative group of hungry diners are treated to fine Saskatchewan foods prepared by the kitchen of Pat Magel at the Banbury House Inn at Wolseley Saskatchewan. Sheila Deck, the Star for the event, treats everyone with her guitar and vocals. This episode of the 13 part series features the organic operation of Raymond and Marianne Aspinall near Estevan. We visit with them as they talk about the development of thier family business of growing grain, sourcing more grains and grinding them to flour for markets around Canada. After a typical Saskatchewan meal of soup, salad, steak and potatoes, everyone enjoys fruit pies made at the Over the Hills Orchard in Lumsden. Conversation at the table centers on the flavour and variety of foods available in the winter in Saskatchewan.
