Jones Falls : Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada
Jones Falls in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada
Some Test Footage from my first day out with my new Glidecam HD-2000, and also my first day out shooting with my new Canon EF 17-40mm lens.
Jones Falls is on the West Side of Owen Sound. Parking access from the Tourist Information Centre and then a short walk along the creek until you reach the falls.
Continue along the trail past the falls in order to get a view from below them.
I got my glidecam HD-2000 the day before this little hike out. After working with the XR-1000 for about a year, it was much more intuitive to get dynamic balance the HD. It is also much smoother to film with.
The XR-1000 doesn't have enough weight (inertia) so shooting outdoors was a pain if there was even the slightest wind. The HD2000 has much more inertia so I was very happy with my initial shots outdoors. Inertia is good because it's the amount of force needed to get the camera to change its direction. It is also a direct correlation to how heavy the glidecam is in your arms.
I've now changed it to use a different light camcorder I had kicking around.
Video edited with FCPX. Applied minor stabilization to the clips.
Music : (if you can call it that) I thought I'd try something different and played my own track in Garage Band for this video. I'm not super pleased with it, but sometimes thats still better than the effort needed to find music by a Creative Commons Standard Attribution License.
