Variegated Fairy Wrens at Owen Springs Reserve, Central Australia
A party of wild Variegated Fairy Wrens foraging in a malaleuca stand early in the morning. Most obvious birds were females or non-breeding males but at 1:20 the alpha-male bird appears in full breeding plumage. In the background calls of weebills, pied butcherbird and the wrens themselves.
