Welcome to Karijini National Park. The rugged beauty of the Gorges, it's beautiful waterfalls and sparkling rock pools make the Karijini National Park, a must see destination for all visitors to Western Australia.
Karijini is Western Australia’s second largest National Park. Located in the State’s North West, the National Park is an ideal getaway for those wanting to escape the usual hot spots, explore the Outback, and be able to travel around in a 2WD or 4WD.
Centred on the Hamersley Range, Karijini boasts rugged landscape, stunning gorges, and breathtaking waterfalls. Many of the gorges in the National Park have walk trails varying in length and difficulty.
Make sure you check out Weano Gorge and Dales Gorge. There are also a few walking trails along the top of the gorges which offer spectacular views, especially from Oxer Lookout.
The gorges are overwhelming. Karijini also boasts some spectacular Waterfalls and Pools; including Joffre Falls, Fortescue Falls, Circular Pools and Falls and Fern Pool.
Karijini National Park is abounding with flora and fauna. Keep your eyes out for red kangaroos, rock-wallabies, echidnas, dragons, dingoes, bats, and the rare pebble mouse.

Mount Bruce, Karijini
Mount Bruce is the second highest peak of Western Australia at 1,234 meters. The hike is class 5 in difficulty and about 10km return. Definitely worth the amazing views!

Covering 627,422 hectares just north of the Tropic of Capricorn in the Hamersley Range, Karijini National Park is Western Australia’s second largest park.
Its climate can best be described as tropical semi-desert. A highly variable, mainly summer rainfall of 250–350 mm, often associated with thunderstorms and cyclones, is accompanied by temperatures frequently topping 40 degrees Celsius. The ideal times to visit the park are late autumn, winter and early spring. Winter days are warm and clear, but nights are cold and sometimes frosty.
Massive mountains and escarpments rise out of the flat valleys. The high plateau is dissected by breathtaking gorges, and stony, tree-lined watercourses wind their way over the dusty plain. Erosion has slowly carved this landscape out of rocks that are over 2,500 million years old. There are many beautiful gorges and sites to visit in Karijini National Park, but be sure to include Dales Gorge, Fortescue Falls, Weano Gorge and Oxers Lookout.

WILDERNESS HIKE TO CIRCULAR POOL | DALES GORGE | KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK | AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK Ep 53
In this episode the Dusty Mules take on a wilderness hike through the ancient lands of Karijini National Park via Dales Gorge to Circular Pool in the Australian Outback as Part 3 of their Karijini Experience right near Tom Price in the heart of the Pilbara.
It's loose, with a steep descent and once passed the stairs to the lower level it's an easy zig zag down to the hidden gardens of Circular Pool. During the warmer months, a swim in the refreshing permanent waters is a must. Today however, the water was way too cold of this bunch.
The Hike is a Class 4, we didn't think it was that challenging.
It's approximately 800 metres to the pool, so allow an easy 2-3 hour return if you plan on just chilling down the bottom, stopping for a swim and a bite to eat. Otherwise, you can get down, enjoy the scenery and get back up top within 1.5 hours comfortably.

Karijini Adventure
Karijini National Park is a vast wilderness area in the Hamersley Range of Western Australia. In the park’s north, Oxer Lookout has views of the Weano, Red, Hancock and Joffre gorges. At the edge of Weano Gorge, a trail leads to Handrail Pool. To the east are the red rocks of Dales Gorge and the cascades of Fortescue Falls.
The park is on the traditional lands of the Banyjima, Kurrama and Innawonga people of the Pilbara region.
Karijini is the Banyjima name for the Hamersley Range
