Oxley Scenic Lookout - A breif encounter
I bought a cheap HD (720P) digital video recorder the other day and wanted to test it out, so today (14/10/2011) I headed up to the Oxley Lookout to shoot some video. The zoom, as you can tell, is purely digital and thus sucks, but it was $59 so I'm not complaining.
At night the view from the lookout is beautiful; the stars are brighter up there and the town below lives up to the name City of Light (In 1888 Tamworth became the first location in the Southern Hemisphere to have electric street lighting). Most visits you'll have the place to yourself, or have just a couple other visitors. There is also a walking track (you can see the sign towards the end of the tour).

This is a precious memory of Gary entertaining our family at a home dinner in December 1997. He made it look so easy, and in this casual rendition of Alan Jackson's Tall Tall Trees looks so relaxed and enjoying the moment. You can see by the engagement of the children that it was very much appreciated. His smile was disarming, and when not smiling, the dimples remained to reveal part of the Gary we remember. My brother passed away in June 2012.
