In American English, walkway is a composite or umbrella term for all engineered surfaces or structures which support the use of trails.
The New Oxford American Dictionary also defines a walkway as a passage or path for walking along, esp. a raised passageway connecting different sections of a building or a wide path in a park or garden. The word is used to describe a footpath in New Zealand, where walkways vary enormously in nature, from short urban strolls, to moderate coastal locations, to challenging tramps in the high country . Similarly in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada the Grand Concourse, is an integrated walkway system that has over 160 kilometers (99 mi) of walkways, which link every major park, river, pond, and green space in six municipalities.
In Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the SkyWalk is an approximately 500 metre enclosed walkway connecting Union Station to the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre (SkyDome). It is part of the PATH network. The SkyWalk passes above the York Street 'subway' and the Simcoe Street Tunnel. It opened in 1989 and it was built to reduce the need for additional parking spaces near the Skydome stadium by providing a direct transportation link to the subway and GO trains. PATH is a 29-kilometre (18 mi) network of pedestrian tunnels beneath the office towers of Downtown Toronto, and the largest underground shopping complex in the world.
In British English, a walkway more specifically refers to a covered or raised passage in a building, typically connecting separate buildings.

Making a Mark - November 5, 2016 Session 5
Session 5: Marking Identity (Sheila Bonde presiding)
3:45pm - “Family Crests and Family Identity in Warrior Japan”, David Spafford (University of Pennsylvania)
4:30pm - “Chicano/a Placas: Aestheticizing and Politicizing Territorial Demarkation”, Stefano Bloch (Brown University)
5:15pm - Concluding Discussion and Final Remarks
Humans have an urge, even a compulsion, to mark meaning through visible graphs. These signs range from coats of arms to emojis, potter’s marks to gang signs, and Paleolithic graphs to ISOTYPE or other cross-linguistic vehicles for communicating ideas. All can project meaning directly, without necessary recourse to language. For all their importance, however, there is little of a comparative nature to probe their use, meaning, makers, setting, and variance, or what they share as an expressive potential of all humans. In this conference, specialists in diverse scriptural and semiological systems explore semasiography, the phenomenon of non-linguistic forms of graphic communication organized into patterned, often codified ways. Talks address the techniques and systems employed in such mark-making, the media and modes of representation, and the uses and limitations of symbols and graphemes. The overall objective is to underscore the vitality of such visible signs at all times and periods, and to delight in their wondrous variety.

Relaxing Natural Sound of Ocean Waves at Kagoshima (Kinko) Bay, Japan (11 February 2015)
I am standing at the southern coast of Kyushu Island, Japan.
This place is located at Ibusuki City, which is famous for beautiful natures and interesting hot bath.
I just took nice SAND BATH when I took this video. Please watch and enjoy!
Kagoshima (Kinko) Bay
I am standing southern entrance of Kagoshima (Kinko) Bay. The entrance faces East China Ocean.
Kinko Bay is located at the south of Kyushu Island. The bay is used to be a big crater of ATA volcano. Now the bay is surrounded by Satsuma Peninsula (West) and Osumi Peninsula (East)
Mt.Sakurajima almost everyday at the middle of the bay.
Cape Sata (Southern Tip of Kyushu)
You can see the most southern tip of the Kyushu Island on the LEFT side of the video. The cape is called SATA.
The cape is a park and you can walk to the southern tip. The ocean view from the cape is just BREATHTAKING!
You had to pay money to reach the cape in the past, but it became free of charge recently. Lucky!
Nagasaki-Bana
You can see the southern tip of Satsuma Peninsula on the RIGHT side of the video.
The place is called is Nagasaki-Bana. (Bana means Cape in Japanese). The place is known as the north limit of natural Cycas revoluta (very spiky unique plant)
There are many tropical flowers and plants at the park. Surrounding area is very good for driving a car and enjoy riding a bike! For your information, you can rent a bike at Nishioyama Station and come to Nagasaki-Bana by a bike.
There is also the most southern JR train station Nishioyama Station near the Nagasaki-Bana.

三味線の世界音楽 Shamisen + WORLD MUSIC
Celtic style melody played on a Japanese lute called Shamisen. This tune comes from the ancient past of European origins. Japanese spike lute called Shamisen is a very old instrument that originated in the middle east and came to Japan through the Silk Road and China. It was a Chinese musical instrument for over 1000 years before reaching the shores of Okinawa. From there it was integrated into the culture of mainland Japan and replaced the Biwa as the most popular Japanese stringed instrument. Today along with Koto, Shakuhachi and Taiko drums the Shamisen is enjoying renewed popularity. Tsugaru Shamisen, a modern style is even being incorportaed into Modern Japanese Pop ,Rock and Jazz fusion music and Heavy Metal. Shamisen today is very different from the Shamisen used in Nagauta and Kabuki theater. To learn more about Shamsien search for the International online Shamisen community called Bachido. To hear Great examples of traditional Shamisen look up Takahashi Chikuzan. For modern examples search for Monsters of Shamisen, Nitta X Oyama and the Yoshida brothers.三味線
