愛媛県・今治市・大三島に鎮座する神社です。かつては、初代内閣総理大臣・伊藤博文、旧日本海軍連合艦隊司令長官山本五十六らが参拝し、現在でも、海上自衛隊や海上保安庁の方々も参拝しています。
甲冑や刀剣などの国宝溢れる宝物館（大人1000円）もあります。

Warei Shrine, Uwajima Ehime ⛩️ 和霊神社●愛媛県宇和島 ⛩️ Japan As It Truly Is
Warei Shrine (和霊神社) is one of the more picturesque shrines in Uwajima, Ehime and still largely free from the swelling numbers of tourists descending across the country these last few years.
It has a rare curved bridge leading to it and its architecture is very appealing.
Warei Shrine was established in 1653. It got burned down during an air raid in 1945 during WW2, but it was rebuilt in 1957.

Japan Trip: World's Longest Series of Suspension Bridges, Shimanami Kaido Bridge, Hiroshima 06 Moochan
Japan and its people are very proud of Shimanami Kaido Bridge, the world’s longest series of suspension bridges, which connects Honshu (Japan’s main island) with Shikoku. Visitors can enter or exit the bridge from either Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture on the Honshu side or from Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture on the Shikoku side. This 60 kilometer long bridge-toll road can be utilized by motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
Visitors can use Shimanami Kaido to visit Mukaishima, Innoshima, Ikuchijima, Omishima, Hakatajima, and Oshima islands as the bridge has exits for its users to stop along the Seto Inland Islands on their way to Honshu or Shikoku. Some areas of attractions on the islands include:
**Innoshima Suigun Castle on Innoshima Island. Though not the original castle, the recreated naval castle is modeled after the original castle from the 14th to 15th centuries. Visitors will find a museum about the Japanese navy within the castle.
**Kosanji Temple on Ikuchijima Island. Dedicated to the founder’s mother, the buildings within the temple grounds are modeled after famous Japanese historic structures. This temple has a museum as well displaying rare, high quality antique art pieces.
**Oyamazumi Jinja (Shrine) on Omishima Island. The deity enshrined at this shrine is the protector of the sailors and soldiers. The shrine is also famous for its collection of historic armor and swords.
**Kirosan Observatory Park on Oshima Island. Visitors can view Kurushima-kaiyo Strait Bridge, the first three consecutive suspension bridges in the world! In addition, Kurshima-kaiyo Strait, one of the three fastest currents in Japan can be seen here.
In addition to the tourist attractions, visitors can enjoy the fresh sea air, cool sea breeze as well as sunshine on this island hopping bridge. Visitors will find beautiful beaches on the islands. There are campgrounds as well as hot spring inns (ryokan) for those who wish to spend the night.
Visitors are recommended to try the local fruits and vegetables these islands are proud of. Citrus is especially popular in this area. The seafood, caught from the surrounding Seto Inland Sea, is delicious as well. Sea bream. Octopus, Shellfish (including short-neck clams and freshwater clams) are but a few of the popular seafood in this area.
The bridge can be accessed by car, moped, bus, and bicycle or on foot. There are ferries as well to the islands with the Shimanami Kaido Bridge in the background. Not just a bridge, toll way connecting the islands as well Honshu and Shikoku, Shimanami Kaido is new way to access, discover and experience Japan treasures.

The Seto Inland Sea (Setonaikai National Park) between the Japanese main islands of Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. Its calm waters stretch over 400 kilometers from Osaka to Kitakyushu and include some 3000 islands, many of which are inhabited. The Seto Inland Sea's mild climate and its islands' relaxed atmosphere invite comparisons with the Mediterranean Sea. Most of the sea is
part of the Setonaikai National Park, one of the first national parks designated in Japan.
Omishima Otauesai is an important rice planting festival at the Oyamazumi Shrine, which used to be a place of worship for pirates between the twelfth and sixteenth centuries. Oyamazumi is the great god of mountains who protects people working in the mountains and brings sufficient water to farmers. By and by, the deity began to be considered the patron god of the whole Japan attracting emperors, lords and warriors. Those who had had
their prayers answered revisited Omishima and presented fine offerings to the god. So, the shrine’s collection of arms and armours is best in Japan.
Both husband and wife should go to this shrine together since its god is jealous. He is the elder brother of Amaterasu who is the highest goddess of the heaven. Amaterasu’s grandson Ninigi married Oyamazumi’s daughter whose son became the father of Japan's first Emperor Jimmu (660-585 BC). The messenger of Oyamazumi is an eel that is hatched in mountain streams.
In front of the time-honoured Oyamazumi Shrine there is a 2,600 years old camphor tree.

2017年の晩秋にしまなみ海道に沿って、大山祇神社、亀老山展望公園及び耕三寺を巡りました。大山祇神社、亀老山展望公園は昨年upしました。
今回upしたものはその時の映像を繋げたのものです。このほか千仏洞地獄峡（いわゆる、地獄めぐり（？））や未来心の丘も巡りました。

We cycled the Shimanami Kaido route followed by a trip across the smallest Japanese main island of Shikoku, by bicycle and train. It was a trip taking 10 days. Loved every moment!

今回は、素晴らしい景観の島々が、連なる憧れの瀬戸内海をめぐりました。「しまなみ海道」で、宝の島と呼ばれている大三島に鎮座する大山祇神社、向島の覚明神社それに源平合戦で、平家軍が、随一勝利した倉敷市玉島の水島合戦の史跡を訪ねました。

寺社に必ず存在する「参道」それは神仏に参詣するために用意された道だ。参拝者は神仏へ詣でる前に参道を通る必要がある。ケガレた身をキヨめ、神仏へ向かい合う準備をするためだ。「キヨメの装置」それが参道である。
また、参道は「生まれ変わり」・「再生」の空間でもある。
人と神仏を結ぶ道、その空間に足を踏み入れて歩みを進めるうちに、俗世から切りはなされて聖域に近づいていく。その間に人は清められ、神仏へ参った後、俗世へ戻るときには、いわば新たに生まれ変わった状態となる。
神仏へ参ることが一種の生まれ変わりならば、寺社は胎内のような空間であり、参道（産道）は生まれ変わるための「再生装置」だ。

愛媛県西条市にある石鎚神社境内社の三倍神社の狛犬がとてもかわいい！
玉で遊んでいるかのような楽しそうな笑顔の狛犬にメロメロですｗ
今回訪れたときには紅葉の枝でおめかしされていました＾＾
日本全国ほかにもかわいい狛犬を見てきましたが石鎚神社三倍神社のこの狛犬を日本一かわいい狛犬認定！！

Tsuruhime Festival
The Tsuruhime Festival is held on the second Sunday of July on Omishima Island in Ehime. It commemorates the young female leader of one of the maritime clans of the Inland Sea who defended her island domain at the cost of her life.
A young model dressed as Tsuruhime appears at Oyamazumi Shrine in the morning with a couple of female attendants. They adjourn to the nearby port and board boats for a short seaborne parade. These were the small vessels used by the maritime clans to dominate trade in the Inland Sea. This is followed by a racing tournament involving the same boats. The festival ends with a display of fireworks.
For visitors, this festival offers an opportunity to see some of the history behind this part of the Inland Sea, and to understand the significance of Oyamazumi Shrine. The shrine, Tsuruhime, and the Suigun boats are all very photogenic.
