Is life's supposed to be a competition?
Around the end of the 19th century
Pierre de Coubertin, father of the modern Olympic Games, said
L'important dans la vie ce n'est point le triomphe
The important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle,
essential thing is not to have conquered but we fought well
I'm off to Malta for very important meeting which might shape the vlog
Wish me luck!
But what if life really was a competition?
After all we're taught to compete from the earliest age
as we come to the world we compete for attention,
education, sports, finding a partner, a job, a house, to get more money or a better pension.
But who is the real winner in the end?
As you might well know,
in the past couple of weeks I have participated in a video competition organised by the
Malta Film Commission and the Malta International Airport.
Personally I don't like competitions!
I don't like being judged not by a jury not by anyone
(my parents know something about that)
even more I dislike the crazy extent
some people would go to get votes!
I would like to do a ...
I would like to do a sandwich man thing
I need mirrors
I voted for you!! I did I voted!
You voted?! Very good!
I don't like to take part in competition.
'cause I like to win, I don't like to lose.
Just as my son I don't like to lose and even more I'd like to struggle with the
aim of being better than others rather than just being my own best
and when it comes to art how can you compare a Van Gogh to a Picasso?
Maybe an artist shouldn't be judged, full stop.
anyway I'm no Van Gogh or Picasso and other
people's opinion can be important yet there are opinions that count and
some you should just brush off
but sometimes it's difficult to know which
is which
how did the meeting in Malta go?
