A continental air mass is moving over Taiwan, bringing cold temperatures and rain to Northern Taiwan. Snow was reported early in the morning at Taiwan''s highest peak of Xueshan and at Hehuashan in Nantou County. The Central Weather Bureau expects the weather to warm up starting Wednesday, before turning cold again on Friday with the arrival of another northeast monsoon.A blanket of snow has fallen, turning Hehuanshan into a winter wonderland. Droves of visitors headed up the mountain to enjoy the snow. Some went all the way to Song Syue Lodge, “the highest hotel in Taiwan,” to document this rare moment.With the advent of a cold continental air mass, the 369 Cabin at Shei-pa National Park has also gotten snowfall – its very first of the year.The Central Weather Bureau has issued a cold surge advisory for Tuesday in the plains areas of Hsinchu and Miaoli, where temperatures could reach 10 degrees Celsius.Hsieh Pei-yunCWB forecasterIn the early morning on Tuesday, lows in western Taiwan will still be at 12 or 14 degrees. At coastal areas and the open plains, we could see lows of 10 or 11 degrees. The weather will warm on Wednesday, though the day-night temperature difference will be at least 10 degrees. That could easily lead to a stroke.With temperatures dropping, the doctor advises keeping the neck and head covered to ward off a cold.
Cyonglin or Qionglin Combat Village (Kinmen, Taiwan)
Cyonglin or Qionglin stands out from other Kinmen villages with its myriads of historic houses, temples and wind lion god statues plus a military tunnel complex runs underneath the village. The tunnel's total length is 1,355 meters and most of the network is 6 meters underground.
Due to the village's key strategic location on Kinmen, all the homes in the villages are connected by a network of tunnels, leading to the nickname Combat Village.
To improve the civil defense fortifications, work was begun on extending and upgrading the tunnels in 1976. With the village office as the center of defenses, the tunnels were extended towards the north and south. A command post was also built under the village office with connecting tunnels to air-raid shelters, bunkers, pillboxes and private homes.
The village was also home to a wealth of scholars passing the highest imperial civil service examination, who therefore became “Jinshi” (official).
The village of Qionglin is beautifully constructed of red bricks, and the quaint houses are topped with swallowtail roofs that consist of ornate sickles curling up into the air at the ends of a roof’s ridge which resembles the tail of a swallow. These are very prominent parts of the traditional Minnan architecture.
In 1949, Chinese communist forces launched a night attack on Kinmen and fought a pitched battle with R.O.C. troops for 56 hours before finally being repulsed. The area where the battle was fought is now known as Guningtou Battlefield.” However, the Chinese communist forces were supposed to land on Qionglin, but a whiff of north wind changed their route. The lucky village therefore got to stay intact after the war.
Every single village on the island of Kinmen has at least one guardian lion that wards off evil spirits, and the ones in Qionglin are said to be the grandest and largest.

Fengyuan -Taiwan- | Cinematic Travel Vlog #3
Fengyuan is a one of the great place to visit and unwined after a long tiring week of work. It offers a lot of beautiful places with beautiful culture and historical facts. Some of this are:
Tzu Chi Temple- It was established during the Qing Dynasty. It is for worship to Heavenly Holy Mother. It is an important religious holy land for the local Fengyuan residents. The dragon-style architecture consists of three halls and two doors. It is located in the South facing the North. A banyan tree sits in front of the temple, with a pair of giant copper lions donated by the local enterprises. They are filled with a solemn spirit. After many renovations and many years of maintenance, Tzu Chi Temple has preserved many precious historic relics.
Miao Dong night market- A typical Night Market located in Fengyuan District in Taichung. A busy street full of shops and food stalls. If you want to taste street foods in Taichung, you are in a good place to try fried chestnuts, pineapple shaved ice, Chinese meat balls and the crystal dumplings.
Huludun Park- Decent flower park. There are overhead bridge to connect individual sections of the garden. Going in morning or evening would be a great choice.

Travel Miaoli Taiwan & Hakka Chinese Food 遊台灣苗栗吃客家菜
I must admit that I haven't travelled much outside of #Taipei mostly because my dad wouldn't let me drive his precious car. This time around, my friends were kind enough to let me tag along with them to #Miaoli #Taiwan which is a county 2 hours away. I was blown away by the natural sceneries and relaxing vibes in Miaoli because it's not something you could get in the capital. What really amazed me was that you could actually see stars!!! No pollutions of any kind, just plain tranquillity. Um right, don't forget your mosquito spray.
