Oceano Dunes Natural Preserve - Oceano, California (95)
Talk about paradise. I just couldn't stop smiling. We arrived at Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort in Oceano, California and were treated to the most incredible sights and sounds. Driving to the upper campground, you're immediately stunned by the beauty to the right. There is an access point to the dunes and it is a giant sand box. It made us feel like kids again and Fiona had a blast. This is the site of many photo shoots and it's easy to see why.
The beach is a 30 minute walk from the campground and you'll have access to Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area once on the beach. Try saying that five times fast!
Here is some more info on the nature preserve:
On this particular day we mostly explored the nature preserve but the next day we enjoyed Oceano Dunes SVRA:
The campground is situated close to the beach and shopping. There are countless things to explore from this area, so it's a nice starting point.
Why we love the Thousand Trails Zone Pass ($565 USD) with the Trails Collection ($199 USD) upgrade:
Not only can we access the approximately 80 Thousand Trails campgrounds at no extra cost, but we also have access to 107 Encore properties. Only 18 of the Encore properties are premium properties and cost an additional $20/night.
It fits our current lifestyle because we are trying to see as much of the U.S. and Canada as possible this winter. Maybe next year we will try something different but for now, it works well. We estimate that we are paying about $5/night based on the above membership. If you like you can check out the link below to get an additional rebate.
Get out and camp with $100 off a Thousand Trails Camping Pass. You will get $100 off and we will receive a $25 referral fee. All our reviews are 100% honest opinions. Start exploring by clicking this link!
Stay tuned to see how we fare on the beach drive and much, much more!

Driving on the beach with my '05 Jeep Wrangler TJ at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area during our 2017 Independence Day vacation.
Drove to Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area from Los Angeles and got there after a few stops in the afternoon. The camping sites were full, but we got a day pass for only $5 and drove on the beach for an hour or so.
We left Oceana Dunes and went on to San Simeon State Park to camp for the night; also on the coast. The next day we went on to the Redwood forests of Northern California!
We will see YOU on the next adventure!

Aerial View Of San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach
This is the gorgeous view out the window of an American Airlines flight after takeoff from the San Luis County Regional Airport on May 24, 2019.
Several Central California landmarks are visible in the video, including the city of San Luis Obispo, highway 101, Cerro San Luis, Bishop's Peak, Chumash Peak, Cerro Romualdo, Cuesta College, Port San Luis, Pismo Beach, and the Oceano dunes.
This was shot with a GoPro Hero 7 Black in my hand, with stabilization provided by the camera's built-in electronic stabilizer system.
The airport code for the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport is SBP. Local residents refer to the city of San Luis Obispo as SLO.
The city is known for being the home of the California Polytechnic State University, or Cal Poly SLO.

Pacific Dunes Ranch & RV Resort Campground Review - Thousand Trails (Encore) (98)
Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort was the ultimate Pismo Beach Oasis. We especially loved the location, the staff, and the nearby attractions. The staff provided information about local attractions and made us feel welcome.
On the downside we would have liked to have a better internet connection (very weak and slow even though we paid for it) and there was only one shower stall in each of the bath-houses on the upper level.
Otherwise we really loved the park and the area. We recommend site number #192 which has the greatest views of the sand dunes, the horses, and you will have a great neighbor to boot!
We will definitely be back to this beautiful area and this park.

2018 June Pismo Beach Trip (Seacrest Oceanfront Hotel)
What a beautiful couple days to celebrate life, and summer with the family. June, 2018 we stayed at the Seacrest Hotel in Pismo, CA. The hotel was great! I would give it a solid 8.5/10. The rooms were clean, the pool was clean and not too packed, fresh cookies every day in the lobby, and continental breakfast is included. We had beach view rooms, that had beautiful shutters in the room where you could close to not let light in, yet enjoy the sound of the waves. There is beach access, and also access to other nearby hotels to enjoy their amenities or just fire pits.

Camping with friends at Pismo Beach CA
We headed to Pismo Beach over the New Years break with some of our friends, we had a ball camping, fishing, riding dirt bikes and paddle boarding. We made new friends, shared plenty of laughs and enjoyed great food and drink. Kande had a ball riding the Honda CRF 230 :)
