How to get from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria, taking BC Ferries and booking through the BC Ferries Connector.
BC Ferries Connector:
It is possible to plan your own way to the ferry terminal, but for people who don't know the route very well (like me) I believe this is a convenient and affordable solution.
Note - in the video I mention that there are different stops available to get off the bus in Victoria. It's also possible to chose a different location to get on the bus in Vancouver. There are a few different pick up locations across downtown. For me, heading to Pacific Central Bus Station was the easiest option though.
Disclaimer - after learning about BC Ferries Connector, I reached out to the Wilson Group and they offered complimentary travel between Vancouver and Victoria for making this video.

Vancouver STREET END-TO-END WALK: ABBOTT STREET From Water St, Gastown to Rogers Arena, Pacific Blvd
This video was recorded on a rainy Saturday night, October 27, 2018. It starts out exiting Waterfront Station on West Cordova Street, turning on Water Street to pick up an umbrella from one of the souvenir shops in Gastown. The actual walk along Abbott Street starts out at 7:20 then heads south to Rogers Arena where the Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks are battling on the ice, halfway through the first period at this point.
Abbot Street changes to Pat Quinn Way as you cross Expo Blvd. at 19:28. Named after beloved coach Pat Quinn who guided the Vancouver Canucks to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1994, the glory days with Trevor Linden and Pavel Bure. The street and the walk ends at Pacific Blvd.
By the way, Sidney Crosby and the ePenguins won the game 5-0.

24 hours in Amtrak COACH CLASS - The Sunset Limited Train
I spent 24 hours in Amtrak Coach Class, riding the train from New Orleans to Austin, with a 6 hour layover in San Antonio, Texas. Honestly, the Coach Class Section had tons of room and was very comfortable on board the Sunset Limited Train. Would I recommend the train? Yes. I think everyone should get to travel by rail at least once in their life.

Most Amazing Tiny Round Tree House Fully Suspended in the Air
The beauty of this wooden hanging sphere shelter brought tears to our eyes when we saw it in person. It's an elegant, magical, hand crafted tiny house that hangs completely suspended from the trees around it.
You can visit Free Spirit Spheres online at They're located near Qualicum Beach (on Vancouver Island) in British Columbia, Canada.
In this video we're giving you a full tour of the interior of 2 spheres and we think you'll love them!
These wooden spheres, and later, fibreglass spheres, were built by a creative engineering genius named Tom Chudleigh. He didn't only build the sphere structures, but he also built all of the unique space saving furniture inside and sculpted and cast his own bronze hardware for the doors and windows.
Tom and his wife are wonderful free spirits who welcomed us to their property to visit their spheres named Melody and Eryn during housekeeping hours. These spheres are so popular that they're almost completed booked year round. If you're interested in checking them out on your next visit to Canada's West Coast, check out their website & Facebook page below:
Free Spirit Spheres:
These spheres were featured in one of our favourite books, Lloyd Kahn's Builders of the Pacific Coast. You can check it out (and see more of his incredible alternative dwelling books) on his website here:

24 hrs in Amtrak BUSINESS CLASS - San Francisco to Seattle Coast Starlight
I spent 24 hours in Amtrak Business Class, riding the train from San Francisco to Seattle. Honestly, the Business Class Section wasn't much different from the regular coach class on the Amtrak Coastal Starlight. Would I recommend the train? Yes. But for a trip that long, I'd recommend a sleeper car, maybe.

Vancouver Train Station-Pacific Central-Inside & Outside View-VIA
Watch the main Vancouver train station called Pacific Central Station both outside and inside. The outside view includes not only a good look at the train station building itself but also the view you'll see as you step out from the station when you arrive to Vancouver by train. What you'll see is a park, new tall residential buildings, trolleybus and car traffic on the Main Street and car traffic on Terminal Avenue. And behind the trees of the park you can observe the Main Street-Science World SkyTrain Station and watch the Skytrains going east and west. The particular SkyTrain that goes east in this video is the old original version. The new version of the SkyTrain is also shown in this video very fleetingly before I point out where the SkyTrain station is. Now let's get back to the Pacific Central Station building.
Erected between 1917-1919 this station was originally built by architects Pratt and Ross for the Canadian Northern Railway as its western terminus on reclaimed land that used to be part of False Creek. It's a good example of Neoclassical Revival Style.
The trains that frequent this station are operated by Via Rail and by Amtrak. It's ironic that from the building which is owned by VIA Rail, there are currently two Amtrak trains per day arriving and leaving from this Vancouver terminus station while there are only two VIA trains per week arriving from and going to Toronto in Central Canada.
Both Amtrak and Via trains are still reasonably priced but by no means cheap. That can hardly be said of another train operator which will likely move into this station soon, the very expensive Rocky Mountaineer.
In 2013, the Rocky Mountaineer, a private train company which operates trains from a nearby Rocky Mountaineer Train Station to and through the Rocky Mountains and beyond, plans to start a new Coastal Passage route from Pacific Central Station.
Enjoy.
