Put Away Spare Tire on Dodge Minivan / Change a Tire Episode 6 of 6 | Flue Guru
Welcome to our video series: How to Change a Tire on a 1998 era Dodge Caravan. In the fifth episode, I show you how to rehang the spare tire after having it repaired. It goes under the minivan using the factory wrench. I show you the piece that holds the tire up, and how to put both pieces through the hole in the middle of the wheel. Make sure that the air valve is pointing downwards, when you slide the tire under the vehicle, otherwise you won’t have enough cord to lift the tire. The last step is to fit that flat piece into the proper position to hold the tire up and tighten it in. This spare tire seemed like it was holding air until we put it on the car and found it to be flat, so we had it repaired. Considering it hangs uncovered horizontally under the minivan, water collects in the rim and causes rust, which is why it was flat. It's lucky the vehicle was right in front of our house at the time. It is definitely a great idea to check your spare tire, especially if you drive in sparsely populated areas or are planning a little holiday or road trip.
