The Classic Museum - Hamilton NZ: Classic Restos Series 35
On the North Island of New Zealand is one of the top tourist attractions in the region. Local Hamilton businessman Tom Andrews from an early age had a fascination with cars and the Chevrolet Corvette, in particular, his expanding collection of classic cars, bikes and motoring memorabilia over the years saw his home became too small (I think we can all relate to this ). The solution was to build a purpose-built building to house his collection, over two stories that now displays over 100 classic cars, bikes and his extensive collection of motoring memorabilia, even the foyer of the building is a replica of a US 50's Diner.
Fletch talks with museum curator Stan Richardson about the collection and walks through the museum, highlighting cars that are rare examples and those that have a unique story. A massive collection of classics from around the world and worthy of a visit next time you're in New Zealand.
This must be the biggest collection of vintage cars in NZ

Real (NZ) Road Test: 1996 Nissan Maxima 3.0i (or Maxima QX or Cefiro!)
Yes, I've found yet another car I can find easily enough back in the UK, this time a NZ-from-new Nissan Maxima, sold as the Maxima QX in the UK, or Cefiro in Japan. It's related to the Maxima sold in the USA, but isn't quite the same.
It has smooth V6 power and a boot release I could not find.
HubNut Store and support options are skilfully hidden at and we send stuff all over the world!

(EP24) Incredible Ford Model T rail car! Plus Pleasant Point Railway and Museum. HubNut Goes Global
During my New Zealand adventure, I visit to check out their remarkable 1925 Ford Model T Rail Car recreation (not on an actual Rail Car chassis, but a Model T One-ton chassis, to the original plans). But, this superb museum is far, far than just about one Rail Car. There are steam locos, a cinema, a print room and much, much more!
Pleasant Point is located on the South Island of New Zealand, and does seem pretty pleasant to be fair.

Real (NZ) Road Test: 1956 Austin Cambridge A50 (New Zealand-assembled)
Built in New Zealand from a Completely Knocked-Down kit (CKD), this Cambridge is a little different. Join me as I drive it around a suburb of Auckland in rather inclement weather.
Sadly, this was while I was having microphone issues, so the sound could be better. The whine of the transmission and gentle growl of the 1489cc B-Series engine can be heard nicely however.

WHAT IS IT? It's a Duzgo! - Real (off)Road Test, NZ-style!
This remarkable little go-anywhere vehicle is a Duzgo, created 40 years ago by two farming brothers, who needed a quad bike before such things existed. Kevin and Rodney Giles built the Duzgo around a bespoke chassis, with a simple agricultural engine up front, driving through a sidevalve Ford gearbox AND an Austin Cambridge gearbox. This allowed super-low gears for traversing difficult terrain, but enough gearing to allow reasonable on-road performance.
The rear axle is a Ford unit, the front suspension is Morris Minor torsion bar and the rear simple leaf springs. The Giles brothers built ten, but were thwarted by tax regulations at the time. Rodney still restores and renovates the survivors, six of which are currently roadworthy! Scottish legend Billy Connolly has apparently driven one (not this one) and loved it.

(EP21) More Scrappy Time! Darfield, nr Christchurch (HubNut Goes Global)
Yes, it's scrappy hour again (well, half an hour) as I discover more deliciously dead motor cars in Darfield, near Christchurch. Also contains a hint at future content!
Highlights this time include Rover 200, 400 and 800, some Mazdas I don't recognise, many Morris Minors, third-gen Honda Accords with pop-up headlamps and a Mk1 Ford Escort two-door that had been converted into a ute!

(EP9) HubNut Goes Global: 90-mile beach, the top of New Zealand and more!
I could not resist driving on a beach, especially as it is regarded as a highway here! That means a 100km/h speed limit, but I soon decided that was not a good idea as the BX began squirming about...
I also visit the very top of New Zealand, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Tasman Sea and visit the Matthews Vintage Collection. All very lovely.

Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine Hearse thing! It's HUGE! (Real Road Test NZ)
Christchurch really did serve up some stonking variety in terms of road tests. We've already had a tiny Daihatsu kei car and a surprisingly sporty Toyota Starlet, and now we've this behemoth!
It's a Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine, that seems to have been converted into a hearse while in Japan. Despite having covered only 26,000kms under its own power, this machine is well-travelled!
It has a 5.7-litre V8 engine, can light up the rear tyres very easily and was filmed very badly in a bit of a rush. It has also had considerable reinforcement added to the rear at the behest of the NZ authorities. The Japanese ones were presumably quite happy with it.
HubNut Store is located at and contains many goodies, but no hearses. Yet...
