We couldn't make it into the the tunnel and Hidden Lake on this trip. This area is tidal and the tides today were not high enough for entry. Paddle boarding fishing is a great way to enjoy this Florida State Park. This area is also featured for SUP Englewood's Eco Tours. I believe this may have been the last week I will have viewed them here in the gulf until Spring. These majestic, kind and curious creatures are worth stopping for any day!
Found a Batfish while Paddle boarding in Englewood with Paddleboard Adventures!
Call 941-525-3170 to paddle in Englewood and fin one of the freakiest and coolest fish in the sea. The Batfish has 3 pelvic fins which it uses to slowly walk along the ocean floor. This creature also has a small appendage in his nose to lure his prey close to him. These are rather clumsy and slow so if you see one, spot and grab him. They are awesome. #5 in 12 months

Baby black sea hare. This little sea hare is one of the smallest I've seen. This gastropod mollusk has an internal shell composed of protein which is hidden by the mantle. This little creature swims like a bird while feeding on algae. Their magenta ink is emitted when threatened by predators or humans. Enjoy

Paddle Board and Kayak at Don Pedro Island State Park. This barrier island has unique coastal features including a mangrove tunnel and hidden lagoon. Discover the beauty that surrounds Don Pedro Island State Park in Cape Haze, Florida.
What will you see at this Florida State Park? Don Pedro Island features underwater marine life only to be seen here. In the mangrove tunnel view a large colony of thorny sea stars, and yellow boring sponge. Various coastal fish and birds surround the area.
This location features a coastal beach and natural coastline. We paddle board and kayak through the bay to dock in the center of the island. This break point leads to a safe kayak launch on the island of Don Pedro and to amenities, bathrooms, grills, and a pavilion. Walking trails through coastal dunes are available on this part of the barrier island.
Kayak and Paddle Board trips are offered daily at Don Pedro Island. Rentals are offered daily as well. Both options require reservations. Don Pedro Island State Park is located in Cape Haze which is near Boca Grande and Englewood in Southwest Florida.

Call 941-525-3170 so we can tell you about these large snails called Lightning whelk. They are carnivorous and beautiful and HUGE. Although it may be difficult to grasp the behavior of these animals, here is a small clip showing the movement of two while feeding on a sea grass bed. They generally eat bivalves and gastropods.
