Paget Peak Hike - Yoho National Park, British Columbia
Team Ontario climbs along the British Columbia/Alberta border to the summit of Paget Peak. On the 10 km round trip, the team gains nearly 4,000-feet in elevation, while they try to find a path through the rocks. And, as usual, they spend a few moments lost in the woods.
The “Searching for Summits” series features five flat-landers from the GTA, taking on the biggest (well, maybe not quite the biggest) challenges in the Canadian Rockies, all in search of a view they wouldn't have back home.

► Day 2 - #sherbrookelake & #pagetpeak
Our 3rd favorite day in Yoho! Sherbrooke and Paget were equally awesome and very unique! You will get an incredible mountain view, and a peaceful turquoise lake with a mountain backdrop, it is a win for everyone!
► Day 3 - #takakkawfalls #laughingfalls #twinfalls #celestelake #icelinetrail
Our 2nd longest AND 2nd favorite day! We made a huge loop to see all of these sites in ONE day and it was the BEST choice! Leave early, and get ready for some UNBELIEVABLE waterfalls and views along the Iceline Trail
► Day 4 - #lakeohara #opabinplateau
We saved the best for last, unintentionally. We tried our butts off to get a bus pass for the ride to O'Hara, but ended up having to walk it! And it was SOOO worth it. Opabin Prospect was our absolute favorite view in all of Canada!
Hi, we are Julie & Zach, a couple who sold everything in 2018 and took off an adventure around the world! So far, this journey has taken us in a van ALL ACROSS the United States and Canada, from snorkeling with manatees in Florida to camping in the Grand Canyon to climbing glaciers in Canada, and everything in between! We were both working and going to school while living in Chicago in 2017 and 2018, and to be honest it really wore on us. We were exhausted, unfulfilled, and ready for an adventure. So, we made it happen! We saved up AS MUCH as we could over those 2 years - all homemade meals, no shopping, walk or bike everywhere, etc - and sold almost all of our belongings! With that money, we bought a renovated a van that we have been living in ever since! This is Winnie, the beautiful Volkswagen Eurovan who is the star of the show, unless of course you include our 8 year old chihuahua, Kobe, who has been tagging along like a champ on this entire adventure. He is an adventure dog in every way, except on some hikes he has to be carried in his doggy backpack... We started our YouTube channel a few weeks ago and have been loving creating videos! When we started, we were SO SO SO SO bad at it, and to be honest we still kinda suck, but we want to get better! What videos do you want to see? What do you want to know? Let us know and we will make it happen!
We believe that travel is truly a life-changing experience, it certainly changed ours! When you get out of your everyday world and experience new cultures, foods, places, people, sights, sounds, and take an adventure, you grow as a person and you become a better version of yourself! You are WAY stronger than you know, and stronger than you give yourself credit for. You have the ability to do anything, so make it happen! BE FOREVER FREE!

1 WEEK IN YOHO NATIONAL PARK | O'HARA & EMERALD LAKE & TAKAkKAW FALLS | ROTR Week 3
This past week we spent at Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Canada! We had 4 absolutely gorgeous days hiking some of the most beautiful sites we've ever seen! Here are our 4 best days that we feature in the video:
Day 1 - Emerald Lake and Natural Bridge - The most classic and popular location in all of Yoho. Emerald Lake is just as it sounds, a stunning shade of emerald green that leaves your jaw on the floor! Natural Bridge is a rocky outcropping that actually forms a bridge over a flowing white waterfall! Madness, I tell ya. Incredibly beautiful madness.
Day 2 - Sherbrook Lake and Paget Peak - A wonderful hike to these two places takes a day, and gives both a mountain outlook and another gorgeous lake. This day didn't measure up to the others, but that is nothing against this one! It had some stiff competition...
Day 3 - Takakkaw Falls, Twin Falls, and Iceline Trail past Celeste Lake - This 15 mile day was up there with the most incredible adventures we've had in a day! First off, the waterfalls are straight up POWERFUL! Takakkaw Falls is the 2nd highest in Western Canada at over 250 meters! Over two and a half football fields people... Twin Falls is the falls so nice the water falls twice! The Iceline Trail is an incredible valley in view of multiple active glaciers, and passes Celeste Lake, which is right up there with the other Yoho Lakes in terms of the colors!
Day 4 - Lake O'Hara and the Opabin Plateau - We broke our record for longest hike ever in a single day... 22 miles! And every step was MORE than worth it to get up to Lake O'Hara and the Opabin Plateau, which looks over O'Hara and Lake Victoria in a way that makes it our favorite overlook throughout the year! If we would have been smarter, we would have booked a bus ride to the lake when they went on sale, but we're dumb, so we didn't. And we had to walk the road instead, which made up 13 miles of our 22!
.
We hope you enjoy our video on our Week 3 adventure in Yoho National Park!

Hi! We are Zach & Julie & Kobe Ruhl, the creators of Ruhls of the Road! We are launching this YouTube channel to document our adventure living out of our Do It Yourself CamperVan - Winnie! Winnie is an absolute beauty of a vehicle - a 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan who loves living the van life.
We have been living the van life since December 2018, and have been loving every day exploring, adventuring, hiking, camping, and doing the darn thing!
Every week, we are posting a brief recap of the previous week showing all of the cool and crazy shenanigans we got ourselves into that week! There will be some tears, some laughs, some scrapes & bruises, and a whole lot of adventure along the way.
We truly believe that people can learn SO much about themselves AND about other cultures by traveling. Hitting the road and experiencing new places, people, & things will open up anyone's mind to new things they never dreamed before! Check out our Wanderful Destinations page on our blog to get our tips & tricks on amazing places we've been to around the world!

About Zach & Julie:
We first found out each other had a passion for travel when we started dating, and set off on our first trip together to sunny San Diego after only dating for a few short weeks! You really learn who someone is when you travel with them... Everything started off great with a delayed flight and lost baggage (the only reason Zach has broken Julie’s terrible overpacking habits and convinced her to become a backpacker gal) but we bonded the rest of the time over sunsets, bike rides, seafood and strong coffee. We were quickly hooked to the feeling of exploring a new place and found ourselves planning our next trip before returning home from the last.
Starting in January 2019, we purchased a 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan MV and are making the road our home! We spent 2 months converting our van (Winnie) into our home, with a TON of help from YouTube tutorials, and of course some help from Zach's handyman pops. Now every day is a new adventure!

Iceline Trail Yoho National Park
Iceline Trail in Yoho National Park is one of the best in the Rockies. It is a hard one day hike. Best is two split it up into two days. Hike the first day into Little Yoho and camp in the Primitive Campsite or the Alpine Club of Canada's Stanley Mitchell Cabin and then the second day hike back out or stay for a few days and enjoy the spectacular scenery. There are all sorts of hanging glaciers a long the way, small lakes, waterfalls. It doesn't get much better.

We went to the Iceline trail and hit Celeste Lake, Angel Staircase Falls, Laughing Falls, and even got wet in glacier runoff from the Vice President Glacier.
Live #03 - Yoho National Park, Canada
Live Update No. 3 reports from Jasper and Banff’s Neighboring Yoho National Park. After looping around Emerald Lake, I was dropped at the Wapta Falls to continue the trip on my own from there, hitch hiking for the first time in Western Canada. Turns out it’s just as easy as in the east..

Sunset on Paget Peak
Paget Peak is a beautiful relatively mild hike in Yoho National Park In British Columbia. It is in the beautiful Canadian Rockies and offers some spectacular views of the Yoho Valley and Banff. I only climbed to the fire lookout which is not the actual peak. It was about 7.5km round trip and took me about 3 hours including an extended stay up top for sunset and a treacherous climb down on the icy pathway in the dark. The valley that leads to the famous Lake O'Hara is directly in front of me. To the left if Banff and to the right is Yoho and the small town of Field.

Chancellor Peak - Doug Lutz, Aug 31, 2016 - Field/Golden, BC
This peak has a significant elevation gain to get to the summit. My GPS recorded 2300m of elevation gain. The slabs in the upper section require route-finding skills to choose the best line of ascent. There is a mix of Class 3/4/5 options to enjoy. Alan Kane indicated to me that he left a small film canister at the summit with a note when he ascended. I did not find a summit register or the note. If you happen to find the canister, there is plenty of room in the ABS tube register that I left at the summit to hold his canister and note.
Paget Peak [2565 m]
Paget Peak was named after the first ascender, Dean Paget . The southern slopes of Paget Peak served as the site of one of the first fire lookouts in the parks.
