Old Estonians were clever, clever people. They knew that dancing had a powerful and magical influence on the surrounding world.
The fact has been kept in mind throughout the centuries and folk dancers in Tartu County are especially unstoppable.
They gather – in fact a good few hundreds of them – in the middle of sometimes freezing Estonian winter right on the slippery cobbles of Tartu Town Hall Square where the audience`s world cannot escape the magic either.
This was again the case on 16 December 2017 when over 500 dancers from Tartu and Tartu County performed Estonian folk dances and simple group dances on Town Hall Square
of Tartu.
This dance is called Puuratas. Enjoy!

Are the Nordic Countries Still a Role Model for Estonians?
Arvamusfestival 2018: Are the Nordic Countries Still a Role Model for Estonians?
A recent opinion poll shows that more than 90% of Estonians consider the cooperation with the Nordic countries important or very important. But are the Nordic countries still role models? Should the cooperation be modernized, and if so, then how? What could Estonia offer for future cooperation? Could this region get its voice better heard internationally if the cooperation with the Nordic countries would be even closer than it is today?
Participants:
Kirsti Narinen, Ambassador, Finnish Embassy in Estonia.
Taavi Rõivas, MP, Former Prime Minister of Estonia
Kai Klandorf, Executive Director, Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations.
