Paint Creek Trail ( Rails to trails cycling ) Rochester Hills to Vilage of Lake Orion, MI PART 1
PART 1
Owned and managed by the Paint Creek Trailways Commission (PCTC), the Paint Creek Trail is an 8.9 mile linear park, located in northeast Oakland County. It was the first Rail-to-Trail in the State of Michigan, as it was converted to a trail from the former Penn Central Railroad. Open to the public since 1983, the Paint Creek Trail receives over 100,000 visitors annually. The non-motorized Trail is 8 feet wide, and traverses through Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Township, Orion Township and the Village of Lake Orion.
The Paint Creek Trail has an all-weather surface of crushed limestone. Many users prefer the crushed limestone because it helps the trail maintain its natural feel and setting. Limestone was chosen because it is an environmentally friendly surface for the trail's close proximity to the Paint Creek, and it is low maintenance. The Paint Creek Trail is ideal for year-round activity. If you like to hike, jog, bike, ride a horse, cross-country ski, fish or just watch nature, the Paint Creek Trail is for you!

26th Annual Michigander Bicycle Tour : July 15-22, 2017
26th Annual Michigander Bicycle Tour, featuring scenery from the 6-Day Tour.
Presented by Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance and the Michigan Fitness Foundation, Michigan's Classic Cycling Vacation, The 26th Annual Michigander Bicycle Tour took place in Traverse City, Leland and Frankfort on the shores of Lake Michigan in Michigan's Northwest coast from July 15-22, 2017.
Home to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, dubbed the Most Beautiful Place in America by tens of thousands of viewers from ABC's Good Morning America, cyclists were amazed at the inspiring vistas and challenging terrain in what is known as one of the nation's best kept secrets.
The tour has three options; 2-Day Tour, 6-Day Tour or 8-day Tour (which combines both the 2-Day and 6-Day tours). Routes were mostly paved or crushed limestone, with occasional short jaunts on dirt roads.
The 2-Day Michigander remains the casual, easy ride up to 25-30 miles each day. The 6-Day Tour moves upwards of 50-60 miles a day and moves from town to town every two days. The 8-Day Tour combines both.
Featured in this video are clips from the 6-Day Michigander which visited the beach towns of Frankfort, Leland and Traverse City while riding through Empire, Glen Arbor, Glen Haven, Northport, Suttons Bay, Elk Rapids, as well as the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas, home to the verdant, rolling, landscapes of Michigan's award winning wine industry, the fourth largest grape-growing region in the nation.
The Michigander Bicycle Tour is recognized as a Pure Michigan FITness Series event. This series endorses local, regional and state events consistent with the Governor's Council mission to promote healthy choices, while offering a physical activity event open to all participants, regardless of skill level or age.
