Tropical Storm In Thailand Uproots Trees, Blows Off Roofs, And Claims One Life
According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, Thailand's first tropical storm in thirty years left one person dead after it hit the south coast, knocking down trees and blowing off roofs in its path. Officials have reportedly said that while the storm is losing speed the threat of flash floods remains high. Tropical storm Pabuk made landfall in the Pak Phanang district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province, where it caused wide-spread damage. Reuters reports that the one death was said to be a member of the crew of a fishing boat that capsized in strong winds near the coast of nearby Pattani province.

Southern Thai Food Adventure, Nakhon Si Thammarat (part 2) | Thai Food Emporium
Welcome to part 2 of our food and travel guide in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Southern Thailand. In this episode we arrive at the famous 100 year-old market by the mouth of the river (Pak Phanang ปากพนัง). We delve into the market before taking the boat across the river estuary.
The town of Pak Phanang is also home to the famous 'Swiftlet Condominiums' which provide homes for thousands of small swiftlets, whose saliva-laced nests are the basic ingredient of bird’s nest soup, a prized delicacy in many parts of Asia.
These 'condos' are safer than traditional methods of harvesting, which involve trained collectors climbing great heights to get the nests from caves, the birds’ typical nesting place.
We then head out of town to watch the skilled artisans produce the ancient Southern Thai snack (Khanom La). This sweet delicacy is traditionally sold at the annual 'Month 10' festival but is ordered throughout the year. I try my hand at it and manage a passable effort on the 3rd attempt!
Finally we head down the coast to a seaside restaurant and sample some more local dishes such as the Horseshoe Crab Egg Salad and Sweet & Sour Mullet Soup.

Booked Thailand part of trip (Flights, Accommodation and Transfers) through Student Flights South Port, Gold Coast.
Flights: Air Asia and Bangkok Air.
Hotels:
Chiang Mai: Royal Peninsula (3/5. Bad breakfast buffet, internet in rooms, clean but over the top).
Chiang Mai Hill Tribes Treck: G-Adventures 5 day tour, 3 nights in the jungle. AMAZING! Best part of trip!
Bangkok: Pullman King Power Hotel. AMAZING! Close to major shopping + MBK and Victory Monument Air Train station. Mango Tree restaurant near by was great. Internet in rooms AMAZING buffet breakfast and pool.
Phuket: Swissotel Kamara Beach. Really good buffet breakfast, no internet in room, would be fantastic for a family, amazing pool. If looking at visiting Patong a lot stay in there for the extra money, its a 15min tuk tuk ride, gets costly, but the hotel and beach near by are more relaxing then Patong.
Koh Samui: The Island Resort and Spa. Massages were really good, food was pretty good, lots of beach restaurants at night to chose from, in major market shopping area. Rooms werent as amazing as pictured. Pool was good.
Koh Phangan: Long Bay Resort. Was pretty good, not as amazing as pictured. Relaxing for a family though. Nice beach, rent kayaks for $5 for a couple hours. If full moon party is the plan its a long way to the other end of the island. CRAVE Bar and Restaurant across from the 7/11 is AMAZING! BEST FOOD ON TRIP.
