Manchester, New Hampshire Tour
- Manchester is the state's commercial and industrial leader, as well as its largest city and the home of nearly 10 percent of its population. The city first gained national fame in the 1800s as the home of the massive textile mill of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company. Nearly 5 million yards of cloth were shipped weekly from the mill, which employed thousands of workers and covered more than 8 million square feet. The mill thrived until the 1920s, when competition from southern mills and obsolete technology took their toll. In 1935, Amoskeag went bankrupt. Despite losing its major employer,
Manchester rebuilt itself as a commercial and industrial center by diversifying industries. Today it is home to a melting pot of high tech companies, banks, business services, enterprises, retailers, manufacturers and health care professionals. Commerce is just one part of Manchester's appeal. The city is also the focal point of the state's cultural community and home to many of the region's eight colleges and universities. Cultural institutions such as the Currier Gallery of Art and Palace Theatre join with the new Verizon Wireless Arena and outdoor concert venues to attract world-class performers and exhibits to the city. Performances, exhibits, classes, workshops and lectures are offered to the general public at many of the area's institutions of higher education. Other city attractions include the Manchester Historic Association, Franco-American Centre and the SEE Science Center.
Elm Street in Manchester is the longest dead end street in the United States. As the central street in downtown Manchester, it is also home to some of the largest and most beautiful restored homes in Manchester.

Manchester, New Hampshire Community Video Tour
- Manchester is the largest city in New Hampshire. The city of almost 110,000 residents is divided by The Merrimack River and is the financial, political and cultural center for the state. In 2009 CNNMoney.com rated Manchester 13th in a list of the 100 best cities to live and launch a business in the United States.
One of the architectural highlights of Manchester are its historic red brick mills, many of which have been renovated for other uses. The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company was a textile manufacturer which founded Manchester, New Hampshire. From modest beginnings in near wilderness, it grew throughout the 19th century into the largest cotton textile plant in the world. At its peak, Amoskeag was unrivaled both for the quality and quantity of its products. But with great size came an inability to adapt. In the early 20th century, the business failed in changing economic and social conditions. Segway, the University of New Hampshire and other software and high tech companies occupy the restored buildings. Restaurants and loft apartments are also prominent. Manchester's 19th century affluence left behind some of the finest Victorian commercial, municipal and residential architecture in the state of New Hampshire.
Manchester's many cultural landmarks include the historic Palace Theatre, the Currier Museum of Art, the New Hampshire Institute of Art, the Franco-American Center, the Manchester Historic Association, Millyard Museum, the Massabesic Audubon Center, the Amoskeag Fishways Learning Center, and the SEE Science Center. The Verizon Wireless Arena, opened in 2001, hosts a variety of sporting and entertainment events, including hockey and football games, rock concerts and fairs. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium are located right downtown.
Housing in Manchester ranges from Historic North End Mansions to chic condominiums to funky loft apartments, and everything in between.
Thousands of children and adults have enjoyed skiing and snowboarding at the McIntyre Ski for decades.
Manchester is located between Nashua and Concord and is at the crossroads of all the major highways in New Hampshire. The Manchester•Boston Regional Airport (MHT) is one of the fastest growing airports in the country and services consumers in four states.

The Radisson Hotel Manchester Downtown - Chris Matthews on WZID Morning Show
Host of Hardball (MSNBC) & The Chris Matthews Show (Nationally Syndicated, check local listings)
Chris Matthews has been following American politics since the first Eisenhower campaign. As a very young teenager, he became enthralled with the historic rivalry of John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. It was a time of big downtown rallies and ticker tape parades on Wall Street, when supporters wore boater hats and bright campaign buttons.
Hardly a decade later he was engaged in American politics professionally. Back home from the Peace Corps in Africa, he was working in the US senate. Then came his tour in the White House as a presidential speechwriter, followed by his front-row seat as top aide to the legendary Speaker of the House, Thomas P.Tip O'Neill, Jr.
In the late 1980s, Chris switched to full-time journalism, serving as Washington Bureau Chief for the San Francisco Examiner. In this capacity he covered some of the great historic events of the late 20th century, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the first all-races election in South Africa.
The New Hampshire primary is the first in a series of nationwide political party primary elections held in the United States every four years (although the Iowa caucusis held earlier), as part of the process of choosing the Democratic and Republican nominees for the presidential elections to be held the subsequent November.
Although only a few delegates are chosen in the New Hampshire primary, its real importance comes from the massive media coverage it receives (along with Iowa, which holds the first caucuses); in recent years the two states received about as much media attention as all other state primaries combined[citation needed]. An example of this massive media coverage has been seen on the campus of Saint Anselm College, as the campus has held multiple national debates and have attracted media outlets like Fox News, CNN, NBC, and ABC. The publicity and momentum can be enormous from a decisive win by a frontrunner, or better-than-expected result in the New Hampshire primary.

Bedford New Hampshire (NH) Real Estate Tour
-- Tour Bedford, NH neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Bedford, New Hampshire, formerly a quiet farming town, has evolved into an affluent bedroom community for those commuting to nearby Manchester and other cities; notably, Nashua, Boston and even Concord. With an 80/20 residential-to-business ratio, Bedford's real estate profile doesn't automatically evoke a booming business town. However, commerce in Bedford is growing. Popular establishments include the Bedford Village Inn and Restaurant, one of the top Bed and Breakfasts in New Hampshire, and C.R. Sparks, one of the area's finest restaurants.
Incorporated in 1750, Bedford was named for Lord John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford, a close friend to colonial Governor John Wentworth. While it remained a quiet rural town for most of the next two centuries, Bedford enjoyed a population boom after World War II, when the expansion of highways and other transportation routes brought a massive influx of new residents throughout southern New Hampshire.
Conveniently located near Boston, the seacoast, the White Mountains and the Lakes Region, Bedford offers excellent schools, a thriving local business climate, and bountiful opportunities for recreation, sightseeing and leisure. Business activity in Bedford is focused along Route 3, otherwise known as the performance zone. Premium office parks and shopping centers such as the Bedford Mall along with Macy's department store, the Wayfarer Inn and the Manchester Country Club line this road, which runs south from Manchester into Merrimack and Nashua. Bedford's other commercial clusters are along Route 101, which extends westward.
With recent expansions to its first-rate school system now taking effect, Bedford has turned its focus toward town recreational facilities, including a 70-acre park with several ball fields, ski trails, fishing and ice skating. The scenic town center offers an array of lovingly preserved historic buildings, including Schoolhouse #7, the Bedford Presbyterian Church, and the town hall. The Kendall Shop Museum and Carriage House offers a variety of exhibits highlighting the community's illustrious past. Other attractions near Bedford include Manchester's Palace Theatre, the Verizon Wireless Arena, the Currier Museum of Art, Pat's Peak Ski Area, the Manchester Historic Association Millyard Museum, Christa McAuliffe Planetarium and the SEE Science Center.

Manchester is the largest city in the state of New Hampshire, the tenth largest city in New England, and the largest city in northern New England, an area comprising the states of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. It is in Hillsborough County along the banks of the Merrimack River, which divides the city into eastern and western sections.
Cultural landmarks include the historic Palace Theatre; the Currier Museum of Art; the New Hampshire Institute of Art; the Franco-American Center; the Manchester Historic Association Millyard Museum; the Massabesic Audubon Center; the Amoskeag Fishways Learning and Visitors Center; the Lawrence L. Lee Scouting Museum and Max I. Silber Library; and the SEE Science Center. Valley Cemetery, since 1841 the resting place of numerous prominent citizens, is an early example of a garden-style burial ground.
The Verizon Wireless Arena is a civic center that hosts a variety of events, from professional minor-league sports such as hockey and arena football to concerts with major recording artists and comedians, national touring theatrical productions, family-oriented shows, and fairs. It opened in November 2001 and seats more than 10,000 patrons. The John F. Kennedy Memorial Coliseum is another, smaller venue located in downtown Manchester with a capacity of approximately 3,000 seats. It was completed in 1963, serves as home ice for the Manchester Central and Memorial High School hockey teams, and is home to the Southern New Hampshire Skating Club.
The nickname ManchVegas was derived from illegal gambling in local businesses during the late 1980s or early '90s. Many pizza shops and local bars had video poker machines that would pay out real money. The nickname was coined following a city-wide bust of these machines. It was then adopted as a lampoon of the city's limited entertainment opportunities. The term has since become a source of pride as the city's entertainment scene has grown. By 2003 it was well enough known that a note on Virtualtourist.com said, Residents reflect the regional dry humor by referring to sedate Manchester as 'ManchVegas'. Born from the desire for ultimate privacy with city accessibility, 14 acres of untamed scrub and ledge were assembled into a single property, entirely reclaimed from the wild and transformed into a breathtaking tapestry of rolling lawns, ponds, sculpted rock outcrops and a horticultural encyclopedia of specimen plantings. Five miles from central Boston, this emerald island rises between the surrounding Brookline Country Club and Putterham Meadows Golf Course. Turf walkways and pathways meander through this extraordinary landscape and the winding driveway provides a multi-step reveal of this unique estate and its residence. The curving façade of Indiana limestone creates a home of singular distinction with 26,000sf of luxurious living space. Every exterior and interior stone was individually hand drawn ensuring a flawless finish. The appearance of simplicity is the ultimate challenge, achieved by creative architecture, sophisticated engineering and generations of the finest craftsmen.
