About Palacio del Gobernador:
The first official residence of the Spanish Governor General or Palacio Real was located near Fort Santiago. Governor General Diego Fajardo moved to a house where the Palacio de Gobernador Condominium presently stands. The owner of the house was former member of the Real Audencia (Supreme Court) Manuel Estacio de Venegas. The Venegas house became the Governor-General's residence until it was destroyed by the 1863 earthquake. The Governor General moved to Colegio de Santa Potenciana while repair are being made to the building. Construction was stopped when a summer residence in San Miguel (Malacanang) was favored as the new official residence of the Governor General.
The ruins was made into a plaza and bomb shelters during the American Period.
After the 1945 Battle of Manila, American soldiers found several dead bodies in the bomb shelters. The story goes that during the last days of the war, Japanese soldiers herded 140 men including some priests from San Agustin Church to the ruins of the Palacio. They were crowded in the bomb shelters. Grenades were lobbied into the chambers. Only eight men survived to recount the holocaust.

Iconic Historical Walled City of Intramuros Manila Philippines | VLOG 22
The walled city of Intramuros is one of the most iconic historical place in the Philippines. Built in the late 16th century by the Spanish Empire to protect the city from foreign invaders. At the end of Spanish–American War, Spain renounced the Philippines and several other territories to the United States as part of the Treat of Paris terms for 20 million dollars. In 1941 during the World War II, the Imperial Japanese Army invaded the Philippines and the walls of Intramuros was occuppied by the invaders. And in 1945, the liberation of Manila began. Led by U.S. General Douglas MacArthur, the United States Army, Philippine Commonwealth Army and Guerrillas joined forces to defeat the 30,000 Japanese defenders. The main defense of the Japanese army was the walled city of Intramuros but with the military technologies of the American Army, the walled city of Intramuros was obliterated by bombs leaving only 5% of the structures which include the San Agustin Church and 60% of the defense walls.
I barely scratched the vast intricate details of Intramuros in my video so I invite you, come visit the Philippines, come visit the great historical place Intramuros!

People inside the Intramuros are friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable about the histories.
I can say that it is safe inside this tourist destination, there are guards at the gates and also there are other guards roaming around.
The Garden Master inside the San Diego Gardens is very knowledgeable about the stories behind Intramuros and I would like to give credits to him of some of the information I've mentioned about. He is the grandson of a cook that served the U.S. Army inside the walls and the Bonsai in the video is his creation.

A Grand But Costly Restoration
A historic building in Intramuros, the former walled city of Manila, has gotten a new look. Fiona Nicolas takes a walk through the historic Ayuntamiento building and digs deeper into what appears to be a very costly restoration.

Old-world Intramuros is home to Spanish-era landmarks like Fort Santiago, with a large stone gate and a shrine to national hero José Rizal. The ornate Manila Cathedral houses bronze carvings and stained glass windows, while the San Agustin Church museum has religious artwork and statues. Spanish colonial furniture and art fill Casa Manila museum, and horse-drawn carriages (kalesa) ply the area’s cobblestone streets.
Commuting Routes:
From Caloocan:
Route 1: LRT1-Jeep
Take the LRT1 to Doroteo Jose station.
Ride a jeep to Baclaran/Mabini, and get off at Intramuros. Landmarks are Manila City Hall, National Museum, and Philippine Normal University.
Route 2: LRT1-Jeep
Take the LRT1 to Carriedo station.
Ride a jeep to Pier, and get off at Intramuros. Landmark is Palacio del Gobernador.
Route 3: LRT1-Jeep
Take the LRT1 to Carriedo station.
Ride a jeep to Lawton/SM City Hall, and get off at Manila City Hall.
Cross the street using the underpass, away from Manila City Hall towards Intramuros.
Route 4: LRT1
Take the LRT1 to Central terminal station.
Follow the LRT1 along A. Villegas until you get to Natividad Almeda-Lopez (2 blocks). Landmarks are SM City Manila, Manila City Hall, and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office.
Turn right at Natividad Almeda-Lopez, and walk past Manila City Hall towards Padre Burgos (1 block).
Cross Padre Burgos towards Intramuros.
From Cavite:
From Dasmarinas Bayan, ride a bus/FX to Lawton/SM City Hall, and get off at Manila City Hall.
Cross the street using the underpass, away from Manila City Hall towards Intramuros.
From Makati:
Route 1: MRT-LRT1
Take the MRT to Taft terminal station.
Walk through the connecting foot bridge towards LRT1-EDSA station.
Take the LRT1 to Central terminal station.
Follow the LRT1 along A. Villegas until you get to Natividad Almeda-Lopez (2 blocks). Landmarks are SM City Manila, Manila City Hall, and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office.
Turn right at Natividad Almeda-Lopez, and walk past Manila City Hall towards Padre Burgos (1 block).
Cross Padre Burgos towards Intramuros.
Route 2: Bus
From Sen. Gil Puyat Ave. (Buendia), Makati Ave., or Ayala Ave., ride a PVP Liner bus to Lawton/Taft, and get off at Manila City Hall.
Cross the street using the underpass, away from Manila City Hall towards Intramuros.
Route 3: Jeep
From Sen. Gil Puyat Ave. (Buendia), ride a jeep to LRT-Taft, and get off at Taft Ave.
Ride a jeep to Lawton/SM City Hall, and get off at SM City Hall.
Cross the street using the underpass, away from Manila City Hall towards Intramuros.
From Mandaluyong/Pasig:
Take the MRT to Taft terminal station.

Take the LRT1 to Central terminal station.

Intramuros (Latin word- within the wall's) is one of the most visited place in Manila, Philippines.
Intramuros is 0.67 square kilometers historic walled area within the modern city of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. It is administered by the Intramuros.
Intramuros is also called Walled City, and at the time of the spanish colonial period. It was the seat of government and political power when the Philippines was a component realm of the Spanish Empire. It was also the center of religion, education, and economy.
The Battle of Manila in 1945 devastated Intramuros, it is the place where the occupying Japanese Imperial Army made their last stand against allied soldiers. The battle destroyed its churches, university, houses, and government buildings, most of which dated back to the spanish colonial period.
The Walled City was originally located along the shores of Manila Bay, guarding the old city is Fort Santiago, it is citadel located at the mouth of the river.
